Thanks for this insightful review. Comes at a perfect time for me!

    one followup:

Does the mc-11 work with the Canon glass? If so, is it at least up to the performance of the metabones adapter?

the reason I ask: if you only wanted to own one Sony to Canon adapter, I wonder if the mc-11 would cover all your needs...

Eureka! I just uploaded my very first HDR video to YouTube. It's actually my 'Shooting Models at Night' clip, but in rec.2020. No color correction. No HDR monitor required. No expensive equipment or i/o stuff. Easy as pie! Of course, if you want to grade your work, you'll probably want to shoot V-Log and get an HDR monitor, but if you expose and white balance carefully, you can edit HLG and deliver to YT no problem. The video should be watched on an HDR capable television or smart phone. Colors aren't perfect by any means, but I'm still pretty excited.

I saw it with a LG 55B6V. No idea if the tv is HLG/HDR when i watch the youtube videos but it looks great.

I will try to download the file and upload it on a USB stick and watch if something changes.

  3. I was so undecided whether to buy a GH5 or G9 or GH5s ... and I solved all my problems.

I bought the Panasonic Leica Summilux 12mm F/1.4 and the Panasonic Leica Nocticron 42.5/1.2 ... they will add more to my videos and pictures with the GX-80 than those new bodies.

There is always time to buy a new body :D

@jonpais It's a workhorse for sure and that's why I have the Sigma 30/1.4 dn in the same series. But the latter is quite bulky and the perspective too flat to my eyes. IQ, while great, cannot really be compared to the Voigt or the Sigma 35mm Art. The perfect lenses for apsc sensor IMO should be the Fuji series. They have release an e mount lens, so, maybe, one day they will release for m43 as well:)

I had the 35mm and the 50mm 1.4 art Sigma Nikon Mount and from what I see the only difference is the sensor not the quality of both lenses which is simply great.

If the 30mm 1.4 is bulky the 35 and 50mm for FF are huge.

The 16mm Sigma 1.4 at that price is a game changer for both M43 and for Sony A6xxx.

If Sigma could offer a 14-30mm F/1.4 zoom lens for m43 ... (the 18-35 1.8 and metabones speed booster is too bulky for my tastes)

A 24mm and a 45mm (field of view equivalent) F/1.4 of that quality on a Sony it's simply great.

Actually, you can have it all (minus mf)! The Sigma 16mm is easily one of the best lenses in the micro four thirds lineup and is ridiculously inexpensive. There's little to moan about a fast, wide, incredibly sharp lens that costs under $450.

I still can't believe it how cheap that M43 lens is for what it gives.

@jonpais When you have some time can you focus in your videos or here in the forum a little on ND filters and lenses ? Thanks

Edit: To those wondering whether I'll be reviewing the Olympus 17.5mm f/1.2 - no way am I going to spend $1,200.00 on a fourth medium wide angle. :=)

    400 euros for a Sigma 16mm F/1.4 and 1200 for the 17.5mm F/1.2

I still think that if I want to invest some money in a wide-angle it is the Panasonic Leica 12mm to be the next one.

There is something in the colors of that lens that makes me want to try it again and to buy it ...

    Hi everyone,

I thought I share my first Project I shot with my new Canon C200.
I used Cinema Raw Light, mostly at 50fps. I used a lot of available light , I had only one LED Light Panel with me and relied completely on the cameras autofocus. I really wanted to try what I can do with minimal crew. Tell me what you think!

I am happy to answer all questions about the camera and my experiences with it.

    Max

    Amazing job !

  8. @jonpais

    just a couple of things

I like the 12mm field of view but the 16mm looks more natural without the obvious "distortions" of that focal length.

Any lens from 12 to 75mm can be used for blogging but I think 16mm is a very good compromise not to get the camera too far with a natural look.

F/1.4 looks perfectly usable with very good out of focus zones, color rendering is great.

Was your profile picture made with the 12mm or the 7.5mm ?

I’ve used ETC a ton with many lenses, including the Sigma 16mm f/1.4 DC DN in a comparison (ETC mode on/off) in my very first review as well as a couple of shots in my in-depth look, and can assure you that it does not reduce contrast. I was shooting in available light, so it’s possible that the light changed, or perhaps I did something dumb in post.

    Thanks, that's a precious info.

@Digitaliant I don't know about distortion, but the Leica's considerably more contrasty than the Sigma, and they render color differently. They're both incredible lenses. If you've already got the Leica and a GH5, you could always use ETC mode to get the equivalent focal length - but you'd be sacrificing the pleasing bokeh of its older brother. =) The Leica is also all-metal construction, it's got an aperture ring, it's more compact, and I believe it's some 4 oz. lighter than the ginormous Sigma. Then again, it's around $800 more expensive than the Sigma...

    Thanks John,

I watched your video on a LG 55 screen (LG 55B6V) and I could say that the Sigma looks quite good for color and contrast.

Yes I noticed too that there is a quite sensible difference btw the Sigma and the Leica with ETC which has less contrast (without it is the usual splendid performer, no doubts about it).

If i had the GH5 I'd most probably use the ETC when I need to be closer to the subject with a tele lens so to get an extra reach. I am not fully convinced of the ETC with wide or normal lenses.

I don't remember if you did a video testing of the Sigma 30 with ETC in comparison with the 42.5 Leica. I will check now.

Thanks again, very kind of you.

    have at it

This is my first post in this great forum.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thanks Jon Pais, great colors, great and smooth outfocus zones.

On my GX-80 it will be more a 35 mm F/1.4 field of view equivalent.

I just bought it and I can't wait to receive it.

Please, when you have some time can you compare it to the 12mm Leica F/1.4. I know that the field of view is different and it's like to compare apples with oranges but it would be great if you can say something on the distortions of both lenses. I tried the 12mm a while ago and I found it quite impressive in this sense and with really great colors and bokeh. In fact, it's still in my shopping list.

    Thanks
