I loved the new film I was far from dissapointed - I was expecting the worse. Its dense non commercial, intelligent and technically excellent too..... I did feel that there was too much detail. I did feel the colours too out of the can..... they were washes over not built in lighting. BUT none of that is nearly as important as my thoughts on the questions I had the BIG METAPHYSICAL Questions I had after watching the original. Such things like - how long do we have - and what do we do in that time - does it make a difference about what we are as long as the feelings to us feel real. These things have lived with me most of my adult life - from seeing the film in my late teens. Those questions have shaped my life. Too pursue - to pounce on life while it is there...... to reach out in the time we have.... to believe in ones emotions. To live with some form of poetry at times - that is emotively based...... Now maybe my multiple sittings of the original has allowed me to distill those thoughts to the point where the message speaks bigger than the plot and vision. I did feel due to the experience of the new film that I was immersed in the world but was so engrossed that those big questions were hard to hear - maybe they werent there..... or maybe i should start rewatching it again. Either way the new film is fukcing impressive - it was never going to fill the boots of the original......... but its one of the best things Ive seen in ages.

I could not agree more. I think the shaky footage would actually be better than the shaky vignetting :D
Why don't you just crop so that you don't see the vignette ? Looks like you have the extra resolution. Just crop so that the vignette is not visible and export in 2K/FHD
Also it seems that the stretch factor is a bit off. But maybe it's just me, not sure about this one.
The images are quite good, just hide that shaky vignette and you're good to go again

Vignette is ok, but if it's moving around like that it looks horrid imo. Better to use a longer taking lens if you want to stabilise. Where are these shots taken? Looks like south coast AUS.

A nice piece showing off the GX85 in combination with a 25mm CCTV lens. I enjoyed this very much and really like the colors.

dropped a medium format camera off the top of some step ladders as I fell off on my first major ad campaign for a big london agency - was proud as i got up off the floor still holding the grip - thinking I;d saved the day - except there was no Pentax 6X7 attached. It had snapped off and fallen into a crowd ! Luckily the camera missed the people !
And then there was the time I had a winebago burn down to the ground on a re-shoot day ie a weather day that had to be paid out of our pockets. Mmmmmm then there was a time my camera shutter failed - and only new until getting the film back from the lab. I re shot the whole job again without the agency knowing it..... which involved models - h&m - styling and a huge fake Henry Moore Sculpture !!

The year was 1999. Under Sicilian mob threats because of the plot -- a true story to be told... a DAT tape lost. Hundreds of thousands lost. The major credit card had about 300 bucks of remaining limit. Flights to pay. Weeks of shooting to repeat for direct sound and dialogue. Script re-written with Marco Tullio Giordana on the purpose in order to fit the Portuguese actress (Ana Moreira) casted for the lead female character had to be reduced. And the character had to be cut off. The actress had no role anymore for her contribution and ours as co-producer despite the hard work and participation in the movie as such, after never ending hours of working time. I went to hospital with heart arrhythmia (my 1st experience with Inderal) following two nights and days with absolute no rest for the weary.
In the end, the movie is still considered one of the major hits of recent Italian cinema (won five awards in Venice BTW, nominated for the Golden Globes, USA and so on) and helped to launch both Marco Tullio and Lo Cascio careers in their next collaboration together La Meglio Gioventù / The Best of Youth, an epic of 2003 all Italians easily recognise as the History of the second half of their XX century.

Here is my first test with my run and gun anamorphic set up.
Shot on a GH4 in 4k with natural profile.
Lens used were Baby Hypergonar anamorphic + LINOS MeVis-C 35mm F1.6 Most of it shot at f1.6 or f2.8
Rectilux Core DNA with +0.6 diopter on close ups.
No sharping or noise reduction.. I hope you like. The images at the end I really love. The Rectilux is a dream but you diopters to get sharp below 2 feet.

Looks awesome Keeesie65 - its so detailed - almost hyper real ! The focus pulls look smooth with the HCDNA. Is this all hand held ?

Heres one with a bit more crafting and story. Less testing now. Going for it ! Although I think i need to monitor the focus a little and get hold of a diopter.......... this was with the Bolex / Zcrane gimbal / Pentax K 28mm 3.5/ EOSHD Col Prof / no grading

Yeah, instant backs are cool too!
I have the Fuji instant back for my 4x5 Sinar f2.
I wish they still made the film, I would use it.  I used instant frequently, it scanned okay too.
Always wanted a giant 8x10 system...

Pentax 645Z is supposed to be quite DSLR-ish to use.
I don't know why they can't get DSLR performance out of AF on medium format cameras and lenses... it is 2017 after all.
Digital Bolex CCD had to be exposed different to CMOS... In the end the dynamic range was similar to the BMPCC, just differently spread.

Those big bags of scilica - to remove moisture at the end of the day or while stuff is stored away - so much moisture. I'd go a hand held point and shoot too - like a Sony RX100 - in a very small watertight case. As you'll be seeing stuff at unplanned moments - and you'll want to whip it out. Even in a small dry bag in your pocket. On the water light and atmospherics change second by second and its your ability to get stuff quickly. Ive spent about 10 years kayaking off shore and fishing for reasonbly big fish. And have shot stuff. Also again - a small point n shoot underwater camera might also be considered. It really depends on conditions..... but one salty splash on an unprotected camera could end things quickly. Also teathering camera cases on deck in case you roll....... check the seals daily for sand etc One speck could end things.... I'd go small peli cases in dry bags. For longer stowage trips.

I'm going to shoot a promotional spot for a serious off road piece where the water is sometimes up to the driver's necks in the cabin...I want some underwater footage as well as close to river level as the truck goes down an embankment, etc....most filmed in an extremely muddy humid environment in the Ecuadorian jungle.
    https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1335061-REG/olympus_v104190bu000_tg_5_digital_camera_black.html
I opted for this...goes down 70 ft underwater as is...300ft with an additional $299 underwater housing...mud on the lens?...squirt it down with your water bottle and keep shooting....f2.0 at the wide side on a 25-100mm zoom and Image wise blows past both the GoPro or my Inspire 1 camera....in fact, at 250g I'm going to figure out how to attach it below my Inspire camera so I can do things like very high boom shots etc., while using live view on the Inspire camera just to fly the bird...the Inspire can certainly lift the extra weight, albeit at the expense of battery life. In your case I would use it on everything while in the Kayak and the GH5 and Maverick for your "dry" establishing shots from a river bank or some similar safe zone....splash proof would not survive the GH5 going under!...anyway...test footage on PV....I'll have mine in about 10 days.

Adding paint on more paint - the Minolta 58 1.2 plus the Bolex - this time with a Novoflex adapter - for hopefully more critical focusing - but yep still hard to nail it. This is a sweet vibe - almost too much for stills but certainly has hope for the motion world. Yes soft - but the OOF areas look so different and organic - and the flairs can be radical - almost futturistic and techno......

Dick Sweeney reacted to Hans Punk in Is 8K too much?
...saying that, the example video does look a bit distracting, mainly because the detail is being combined with very deep depth of field, causing a bit of 'sensory overload' - especially when subjects have vivid colour. I'm also not sure how many actors and actresses will appreciate every pour of their skin being revealed in a closeup at 8k, they complain enough as it is at 4K which is why digital makeup has become a very common thing these days. My guess is that by the time affordable 8k consumer cameras become common place, I suspect the actual resolving resolution will be closer to 4K after broadcast/streaming compression takes its toll, not to mention whatever tricks the camera is doing at source to quickly write to compact media.
For now, Red seem to be getting it working pretty well. Mark Toia seems to describe the advantages of 8k as a capture format quite nicely (even though it's a bit of a sales pitch)..
