MurtlandPhoto reacted to BTM_Pix in ATEM Mini Pro ISO Version
I feel your pain over this as it is has come with almost indecent haste after the Mini Pro.
It certainly does feel like there has been a "hang on, maybe we could add...." moment post launch of the Mini Pro that they could have had prior to it.
I think both products are valid as not everyone needs the ISO facility and the multi-view and master recording of the Mini Pro was an upgrade worth having over the original Mini.
But it just doesn't sit right that the two pro variants couldn't have been announced at the same.
This morning I was doing my usual (fruitless) check stock scouring for the Mini Pro so I've really dodged a bullet in one respect but if they don't get this new one in stock until they've cleared deliveries of the Mini Pro then my new product for ATEMs is just getting pushed further back again as I have to have this one now to test it on.
And it will cost me more money.
So, swings and roundabouts for me too, I suppose.

    YouTube compression :   >1440 VP9   <1440 AC1

think that defined for me the resolution I need to upload ... as AC1 is very poor.
I routinely upload 2K to Vimeo ... always 4K to YouTube. Vimeo charges for space while YouTube does not charge

I'm seeing so many "Is the BMPCC worth it in 2020?????" Youtube videos lately. It seems every year there's a resurgence of people realizing how amazing that little camera is. I still regularly (well COVID hasn't helped) use it as a B or C cam. The footage is so thick with a wonderful grain structure natively. Sharp, but not sharpened. I decided to film a little test today with my new flapjack light. The BMPCC footage cleans up so well and looks amazing when superscaled.

Dude, I'm sorry, but if you take a RED in one hand and a URSA in the other hand you will notice immediately which camera is a toy and which one is not. That's a fact. If you don't want to see it it's your problem.
The 7D it's also magnesium alloy. That's not an argument if we are gonna talk about reliability in different environments and extreme usage. That's where Blackmagic fails.

It's okay @hijodeibn. You're in a safe space now. Tell us where BMD hurt you.
Seriously man your beef with a camera company is hilarious.

The objective of the forum is to contribute opinions, knowledge, for a healthy discussion, however, hijodeibn, it is dragging it to the disqualifications. I think we should ignore it and continue with the appreciations regarding the 12k camera.

I think people are missing some key things here. Built in ND, XLR audio, cheap media/accessories, 8K @ 110 fps and 4K at over 200 without cropping.
Do you know how much of a breath of fresh air all of that is compared to RED cameras? You spend $30K on a RED only for it to show up with no AC power input, no audio ports and some of the worst looking slow motion at 4K that you can imagine.
This is BM's move to break into a new market.

Exactly. It should make the camera relevant for years. 4K in 2020, 8K in 2022, and 12K whenever that comes. But honestly I see huge use for 12K capture of 4K stock footage.

I know you didn't ask me, but I see great use for this cam in stock footage and 4K interviews.

There is most definitely demand. I can verify that a hundred times over. Just not with consumers.

I think this is a brilliant move by Blackmagic. 12K is overkill for now, sure. But, Grant explained how the camera can scale BRAW internally. So it's a great 4K camera in 2020, 8K camera in 2022, and 12K when you want to show off 😉

Here's some test footage I shot last year with the Tiffen BPM 1/4. As you can see, the look varies pretty widely depending on whether there's a strong light source in frame or not. Some shots are probably a bit too drastic for corporate work. For my taste, I like to see the obvious effect. Otherwise why bother? 😄

    Very Nice @Alt Shoo!
I think it depends on the responses JVC got on their camera survey they sent out a while back.
I suspect people wanted a larger sensor. 10-bit 4:2:2 internal ProRes recording and PDAF.
JVC seems very interested in delivery exactly what people want. Problem is...sometimes what people want is not what they buy. Go figure.

I'll do a proper post but for now here it is (obviously in a "project" housing) surrounded by clues.
There is a bluetooth element to it.
There is a single presenter/operator element to it.
There is a control per feature element to it.
There is certainly a customisable element to it.
There is a no need to bring a computer element to it.
There is also an optional expansion element to it.
The main clue of its purpose is actually the Araldite ....

    Remember it ?
All the usual caveats of "absolutely not its final form" but thought I'd show a (very) rough glimpse of its (very) rough format.
Things have been quiet on it publicly because as I said in the very original thread that what was first shown was merely a jumping off point and it pivoted into what is now a very different product.
As you should now be able to guess from this image, it is doing something a little different and offers both AF-S and AF-C modes for, lets just say, more than one focus target
The purpose of this thread, aside from the update to prove its not slid into Sony A7S-III territory, is to provide little updates on what is happening as we edge towards release of the actual product particularly as the previous thread is a bit defunct in terms of what its final form will now be.
I'll put up some video samples soon, although @Andrew Reid has had some over the past month so should be able to vouch for it actually working
I won't be getting too much into the detail about whats going on under the hood until later on and I will be doing a blog post with Andrew to provide more insight nearer the time of pre-orders which should be in August.
FYI, the cables you can see are powering the PBC and not going to the camera so no camera mod is required !
So, for now, fire away if you have any questions if you have any interest in it but if you can please just keep it to general operational stuff.
