I agree. I am also hoping that they decide to step into the cinema market and offer something similar to the box cameras that are starting to proliferate the market. It would be an added bonus to include some of the technology that they are known for into these devices. And although different companies, maybe even continue with and improve on the MFT/S35 sensor system JVC introduced with its LS300.

That’s some of the best footage I’ve seen out of any camera. 

In regards to BM’s new tech, and this not being a Bayer sensor, the numbers aren’t the same thing anymore. I believe we are in the presence of a major disruption to come. It’s obvious this is going to trickle down into BM’s new devices and will most likely force major players in the game to reassess the price of admission for quality cinematic images. 
Sorta reminds me of how one can create Grammy winning music on their laptop/tablet/phone.

All Bayer Pattern CFA is way lower than the stated resolution, Regardless.
You get Only 1/4th the actual stated Pixel resolution. And then the OLPF/OLF reduces this by another 15-30% (though to be fair, without it, the image would be a mess, or have resolution reduction by algorithms even if wasn't exactly as much). Not to mention the light loss.
Only multiple lab tests would show whether this has less resolution than a regular Bayer CFA (for the same number of states pixels) and if yes by how much.

RED color and footage holds up.  RED blows away BM across the board. 
Black Magic footage is always graded away from natural color.  Always.  The same with the GH5.  Give me one color grade that has a natural look and let's see how these cameras hold up. 
 
 
 

Holy shit, are we really complaining about how it looks now? It's not going to win any awards, but it looks fine. All the buttons are easily accessible and it's easily rigged up. 
Are we really gonna pretend that RED cameras are good looking? They're boxes with a mid 2000s gun anesthetic.

I agree that the body should be a bit more durable and maybe they should have made it more sensor in a box, but the camcorder body is a proven design conducive to out of the box filming. In addition

RED had a similar reputation not all that long ago. It takes a big innovative splash to make people change ships...once they do you have a chance to shake up the market. I think this camera will make enough RED users jump ship and then it all comes down to this specific camera and how good/reliable it is. There’s no reason to think this camera isn’t how Blackmagic enters that conversation. None at all.

Again, magenta cast in the black shirt, black hair areas. Look at 00:59sec.  What is that secondary shadow in under her nose?  At 01:06s I don't see any magenta cast.  At 01:27s the shot is horrible.  Good skin tone but at the cost of color balance.

How did I get a downvote for calling out magenta cast from the BM12K sensor?

Most of the gear discussed here is out of a lot of people's budget. Your point? 
In the last 18 or so months they've released two cameras geared toward the indie market.

I'm waiting for a side by side test like Tom Antos does..  I think we can safely say that this is best skin tones we have seen out of a Blackmagic camera.  As far as compared to other cameras, that remains to be seen via a comparison video.
