Alt Shoo reacted to mercer in Panasonic Teases New Compact Cinema Camera
Our conversation got slightly side tracked, but even if most amateurs can't afford to shoot Raw, it doesn't negate the fact that Panasonic should include it in a $6500 camera. Either way this is all conjecture at this point and we will know more in a few weeks.

I know I am in the minority here, but AC or DIT duties do not exist in any kind of production I am currently working on and to be honest, the idea that people like me, with all of the available equipment to make a professional looking movie, at our fingerprints, are treating their productions as if they were filmed on a Hollywood lot is completely nonsensical to me. But whatever, not really my place to judge other people's scenarios.
But again I'm a hobbyist that works with friends and first time actors. The goal is to get in, get the shot and move on... a 3:1 shot ratio at most. I have enough cards to get an hours worth of footage and it's highly unlikely I will ever need anymore than that on a day's shoot.
I get why Raw would not be possible on low budget films when you have a Line Producer breathing down your neck, and every minute is scrutinized before lunch is called... but I don't have those limitations.
But I also see your point for my scenario where a simple production workflow could be more beneficial... it all depends on the project and schedule.
So to get back on topic, I still believe with the rumored cost of $6500 for this cineX Panny camera, it should output Raw, especially when every other camera, at that price range, shoots external or internal Raw. Just my opinion of course.

its too funny that resolve is the same price as fcp. bm is goin for blood i like it
im definitely gonna use resolve for my next project to see how it goes! i mean i like the program a lot, havent rlly used it as an editor yet tho
unquestionably bm is doing something great here – the whole IDEA of resolve as an editor is sicc as heck, and its really come along quite quickly
adobe needs to realize that charging $50 a month forever for BUGGY SOFTWARE PISSES PEOPLE OFF. its not even about the money, its about growing to *resent* that reoccurring charge – that is the shit that makes people investigate other platforms

Alt Shoo reacted to mercer in Canon C200 and Panasonic rival camera to fight it out at CineGear Expo
I think they would be horribly dumb if they don't include 5-axis into this cine camera... it could be one thing that really sets them apart. Of course I also think they should go the JVC route and use the m4/3 mount with a S35mm sensor but it doesn't seem like they're doing that... so what do I know.

Definitely agree the JVC-GYLS300 is already a viable option. I really don't understand the lack of interest for this camera.

M4/3 mount and S35 sensor would truly be the dope!!!
Exactly...plus Panny's been cropping their M4/3 sensor for ETC for years!

@ssrdd I am waiting for a 4K C100 type of camera 1 and a half year now! The LS300 @Alt Shoo mentioned is a great option in 3000euros, +1000 for a Atomos, you have 4K/60p, great (and too many) codec options, variable sensor (native m43 and whatever else through adapters) and a 7" monitor (the Atomos), and a great run and gun 4:2:2 camera on its own with Prime zoom function.

Thanks for sharing. Last time I graded jvc ls 300 footage it wasn't so robust. Either I changed or the footage improved.

They're grabs from some footage.
If I get chance when I get back from this trip then I'll put a small clip of the original jlog up.

I did of course mean the Contax Zeiss 28-85mm and not 24-80mm

The face detect AF is just as good as the GH5 too
I save the file locally and drag it onto the bottom of the reply.
Not sure how you do it if its hosted elsewhere though.

Yea very sweet footage. I like how you use JLog. Hey how do you post the video and pictures in this forum? Every time I try I only place he links.

Am loving what you're getting from the LS300. I really think I'd rather have it than a GH5.
Btw, your XT20 suggestion is interesting. I saw some nice videos online.

Used the LS300 in anger a bit more at yesterday's job doing some quick pre-match build up stuff.
Really hard contrasty light and I haven't tested enough to know how much can be pulled up if you ETTR and so as I was in a rush many, many highlights were harmed in the making of it!
Cinema 2K, JLOG and Contax Zeiss 24-80

I think JVC has the potential to change the game for the mid priced market if they do it right. Currently they are big in the ENG field, which is their bread and butter, but with the release of their GYLS300 they have brought to market an affordable "enthusiasts" cinema camera. So just like Sony, in the beginning they weren't taking serious, now look at them now.

Not bad at all!
The last one mixed with Phantom footage for aerials.

Alt Shoo reacted to BTM_Pix in Jvc GY-Ls300 finally gets 4:2:2 4k and other gifts!
Steady on.
It will be dull test footage all the way.
I'm even thinking of buying a cat specifically for this purpose.
Currently browsing for a PL adapter and might even go mad and pick up an old B4 lens as I'm determined that the much vaunted flexibility of this camera that I've got myself so keen on is going to be taken to the limit by attaching any tubular object that has glass at either end of it!
This guy sets the bar pretty high though when it comes to mounting B4 lenses on MFT mount cameras.

Yes they are very committed to this camera which brings a sense of security and it shows they stand behind their products! If nothing significant is highlighted at NAB, then I'll buy another LS300.
