Taken from the main P4K thread:
    https://tilta.com/2018/10/29/first-look-at-the-camera-cage-for-bmpcc-4k/
Tilta are going to release a V-mount base to sit under the camera.
They're also releasing a grip to hold Sony batteries and another thing for Sony batteries to sit under the camera.
@BTM_Pix - Is it not better to trust the power bank's LEDs over the BMD % ? Let it run past 0% and see if the power bank gets down to 1 light, or if the camera shuts off before then.

Riadnasla reacted to HockeyFan12 in C300 vs F3
In my experience the difference is very small between the two, with Canon having better looking colors (just slightly, the F3 beats the F5's SLOG2 for sure) and the F3 having about a half stop more highlight detail. The C300's codec falls apart in high contrast scenes with a lot of foliage. The F3's codec is only suitable for rec709. Both are great in low light. The Canon is sharper, but also noisier in the shadows. Just slightly on both.
Both are close enough to each other but far enough from the Alexa (which is worse in low light, to be fair), that I'd just take a C100 Mk II any day for the ergonomics. But if a big camera is okay for you, the F3 rig offers 60p and a slightly higher quality image technically. It would not be my choice, but I still recommend it to others.
I disagree about DPX files being functionally any different from video files, but that's a digression. The difference between uncompressed DPX and 444XQ or even 444, in my experience, is completely invisible, and I get irritated when clients demand DPX.
I can send some footage I shot with both if you're interested, but can't post it publicly.
Both great cameras at great prices. You can't go wrong!

Lol.....yup. The Gemini can do single SDI, however then you might as well record internally on the C300, except for the clarity of each frame as a photo file. Atomos will give you your generic ProRes file that I consider to be the low-end of this cameras output capabilities. The dual SDI image is worth every penny, even if you transcode it down later, the detail from the original does stay better, since the camera isn't doing that processing with a small onboard computer with time restrictions (recording speed) vs. a editing computer taking its time (1 day export anyone?)
That's in 24 or 30fps. The Gemini doesn't do higher framerates, but if you have a recorder that can, the F3 does output 60i.....The new ninja star (2?) does HDMI ProRes, and while not listed in the features, I do see a light indicator for a "i to p" mode in the images.......

It will work, but fully built with PL Lens......mine was pretty maxed out. Stability was acceptable, resistance had to be upped to almost locked. Lock tripod properly before letting go no matter what....etc., etc. If you can rent a beefier tripod, it'd be more reliable, while mine has done the job so far.
Yup......oops. Colour isn't perfect, only spent an hour or two including picking footage, then colouring, but you'll get the idea. Most of this was shot with no light control, lantern shots had zero lights other than the practical, and lit sets were extremely limited by gear, time, and manpower. Seriously, when 20 ppl get together and I'm the only one who can do camera, DIT, and Lighting? Least they had a dedicated sound guy....would've loved to fire the director.

    Good afternoon (PST)!
One element I am always confronted with as an editor, is choosing music. I enjoy quite a wide variety of music, and have little difficulty cutting most content to almost any piece. But my problem, is finding the *right* piece. In many jobs, the music has already been requested or provided, however on my current assignment I am having to source the music, get client feedback, then go find more music, etc., etc.
Short of browsing Pond5, Songfreedom, Musicbed, etc., for literal days trying to narrow down the search, how do you go about finding a song quickly for your projects?

Cool! Really enjoyed the blog post too.
My Sony F3 finally sold for far too little, but luckily that was still double what I needed to buy a used BMPCC with zoom and 6 batteries from ebay, augmenting the purchase with a 128GB Extreme Pro SD card. Now just to receive it sometime this week and start the learning curve. Can't wait to start showing some projects here!

So while I'm out on a gig yesterday my wife sends me a pic of 3 boxes. Obviously I was excited! So first thing I do when I get home is get rid of the shipping bulk, right? Not at all excited about my new BMPCC, a 14mm f2.5 asph lens, and my Pebble Time watch.
Then I did the responsible thing and finished working on a Toyota spot I'm editing, and by time that was done I was looking at 2130h. Ho boy. But y'know, I've been really excited about having a portable camera, and to hell with it, I'm going to film something! Wife and screaming kid wanted to come, so we all headed to a nearby tourist trap.
    Colour Version:

    B&W Version:

Personally, I like the B&W better, but my wife argues for the colour version.
Things I learned with this test:
    1) It definitely keeps the info in RAW, but man do I never want to touch 1600iso ever again!
    2) The 14mm isn't the best cinematic choice due to the amount of reflections it has in the lens flares.
    3) Shakycam is very real with this camera, even with using my tripod as mono- and bi-pod.
Can't wait to shoot more projects with it, hopefully with more planning and light involved!

I mainly have two ways of starting a project. Either with an idea I'd like to explore but have no idea how to, prompting me to bring the camera out and wing it to discover the idea properly. Or, I just sit and soak it in, then realize "I should record this". Either way has me in the same boat as you money-wise.
I've spent a lot of time with my T4i and a 200mm lens.....not creeping! But rather, appreciating how different one looks when they don't know a camera is around. I find the "not posing around a camera" is still posing. Other than that I don't really find people all that interesting, though I see your point of being in tune with surroundings. Perhaps I'll make a point of parking more often and just looking around to soak it in.
Could you go into this more please? I'm not familiar with the original adage, and beyond taking it as soapbox wisdom, I don't know how you mean it to be interpreted.
Oops, my bad. For some reason I thought that the main page was a sum of the parts, not its own forum. I've messaged Jon already to try and have this moved.

There's a Lumix 14-42mm f3.5-5.6 that comes with the camera, but in the interest of an easy grab and go, I also have a Panasonic Lumix G 14mm f2.5 pancake lens inbound. I presume to be playing around with different lens options in the future, but for now I'll keep it simple.
While I'm going to start by just learning it in a point-and-shoot form factor, I'm looking forward to being able to build it into 3 different kits: One just barebones/tourist pocket camera. One with a viewfinder and pistol grip or the edelkrone shoulder brace, and lastly a rod system with mattebox and cage, which will be taken out the least imo.
Thanks a bunch! Good to hear someone likes my work! ;p Looking forward to being able to share my learning curve with you all!

Thanks, yeah, maybe I could make it a little bit shorter and more dynamic, the car owner wasnt very happy when i told him, that over 12 hour shoot became 1:20 seconds clip though  It was just a short, passion project without any serious planning. With this clip i just wanted to motivate other exotic car owners in my area so i could film their cars

I am a Big Casey Neistat fan. I know, I am a old Turd. Why?? Well he can light a fire under peoples ass, he makes stuff happen, and that is a good thing, and, and I think this video I have linked might light a fire under my ass, and well some other peoples asses, is that a word??, well I enjoyed it, and I am old, if you are young, hell you ought to enjoy it even More!!

It Makes me think, hell is it good because I am shooting it on a Arri Alexa, or is it good because I shot it on a Go Pro, strapped to my crotch, and it is a view no one has ever seen! Well maybe that is a gasp, BAD example!    You get what i mean.
Hell making movies or videos, what ever we want to call it is suppose to draw the audience into it. Cry, smile, laugh howl, cower, boo, you name it. Do they really give a rats ass if it was shot on a Sony F55 or a Panasonic GH1. WE need to just go out and make stuff happen, be it with a $10,000.00 camera or a 150 dollar one. I don't think the people that are going to look at it really care.
These YouTubers are really where it is at right now.  And they ain't going away. And they are NOT using Arri Alexia's!!

@Dogtown Yeah, I was very pleasantly surprised that no one tried low-balling me! A big reason why I don't rush sales, just ain't worth it. I'm trying to recuperate some of my cost, mainly since (unlike a bunch of them online) mine does have all the accessories to run, including over 1TB of Gemini cards, which seem to be a hard find at the moment. Lori (Vidgear.com) is currently assessing if the kit is worth her getting involved, but if not I'll put it back on eBay at a lower price, say, $3900 for the kit? The fellow I bought the lens from is still a good friend, and we are committed to never letting the lens leave our ownership.....it's an absolutely stellar lens.
And yeah, if it doesn't sell, big deal. I'll still have a very good 1080 camera that I can move north with and film wildlife, scenics, and anything else I apply myself to. I'll miss out on the ergonomics and agility of a preferred camera, but I can always keep saving and get a GHx or something later for glidecam work. Again, the 2 "main" factors of this swap are: 1) file sizes vs. image, 2) camera size/weight/agility.
