I need too much time to find topic about BMMCC, so sorry for posting here, but maybe it could be useful as another example of what BM cameras and especially BMMCC are capable for, or as comparison with Pocket 4k.

I think you're overestimating how many people are taking work away from you after buying a $500 kit.
People that are good at their craft and keep clients happy will always have work. We all have financial obligations and desires, some larger than others. I live cheaply. I own a small home (paid off in large part thanks to my supposed "amateur" video work), I own somewhere in the neighborhood of $20,000 worth of video equipment, all paid off thanks to my "amateur" video work, and I've found a way to live comfortably on $25,000 to $30,000 a year. I've done all that by the age of 34. If someone comes to me and says they can only afford $500 for a gig that others would charge three times for, and I can fit it in to my schedule, I have no hesitation taking it. Some wish to frame that as undercutting "real professionals" whereas I look at it as paying my phone, electric, internet, and grocery bills for the month with one gig. Besides, those type of clients weren't going to pay those "real professionals" what they would ask for anyway.

    You forgot Mojo!!
I agree.  Comparing a Corolla to a Ferrari requires some accommodation of pricing.
I like the "X vs Alexa" because it serves as a good reference for the state of the art.  It also does some small good to educate people that are new to this space and think that their $3k camera setup should be the best in the world.
I also like that it (can) spawn some interesting conversations around various cameras having strengths and weaknesses.  A cellphone is a lot more 'professional' a camera when the shot required is wide angle and in plenty of light with deep DOF, for example.  That knowledge is useful to those people who respond to the "$100k movie camera" clickbait titles.
We could definitely do with more nuanced debate around things though, sadly it seems that the world has become more polarised and succumbed to more black-or-white thinking now that globalisation is really kicking in.
Watching on a phone is actually more meaningful than you might think.
The differences between 1:1 RAW and 12:1 RAW are visible, even through YT compression which must be hundreds-to-one, which tells you something about the nature of compression and signal processing through a signal path.
It's the same with resolution, although most phones are 1080p displays now.
Besides, most camera tests are completely useless at worst, or just a reflection of how well they were graded.
Content and story loose neither dynamic range nor resolution when viewed on a phone...

He was using ISO1250 plus Braw.
So basically no highlight dr + plasticky skin.
By this video it actually is.
But seems like Matteo ignores any trick anyway:
shooting cDNG instead of Braw avoid shooting at ISO1250 in contrasty situations grading in another colorspace like ARRI log C or IPP2 for way nicer roll-off (RCM)

I don't know but I prefer the look of the new bmpcc4k in your clip. I used to have a BMPCC and to be honest I would be happy with either of them. But side by side like that, I would take the new bmpcc4k.
On a side note, tried some vertical filming the other day.

Not that the P4K looks bad, but these sharpening halos (easiliy visible in the thumbnail around the jacket even) make the P4K look way less organic than the original BMCC.
Was shot in either ProRes or Braw. Cdng doesn't show any of these internal processing issues when sharpening in Resolve is set to 0. Still wondering why BMD joined Panasonic, Sony, Canon (since EOS R) etc...

I loved my time with the Micro. Being an FCPX user, it was great having those ProRes files to directly import into FC. Unfortunately, I was an early adopter so there weren’t many options for rigging and being a run and gun, hobbyist filmmaker... it just wasn’t practical. Now there are way more options, I even noticed that Fotga recently released a cheap, little 5” monitor that has LUT support and the ability to power the camera... it takes Sony NP batteries. So needless to say, if I come across a Micro for the right price, I’ll surely buy another.
Heck, even the Micro Studio 4K now exports a Raw signal through its SDI and could be a great little camera to pair with an external recorder.

tonysss got a reaction from webrunner5 in GH5 + Ninja V delay is MASSIVE, just me?
all atomos recorders have latency from 50-200ms depending on what kind of function is enabled (LUT, wave, etc.)
It is easy to measure, turn on the laptop screen stopwatch with miliseconds and HDMI output connect to the Ninja , and take photo your mobile phone both screens simultaneously.
my old Ninja 2 has 180ms
my blackmagic videoassist has no latency with LUT disable. (immeasurable)
Video assist 5" with LUT enable has 60-70ms latency
Notebook hdmi out has minimal latency (1-2ms)
for gh5 it was no matter what I turned on, it was always 140-170ms!
    BMMCC has 80ms
    Sony Z150 - SDI out has 50ms
using a higher frame rate (50p) is output latency mostly by half. (I use on live big screen show 50p only)

I recommend buying an old BMPCC for a few dollars and learn shooting and coloring.
I've had GH5 for over two years,  and I bought an old BMPCC and BMMCC six months ago and that was the best decision I ever made, color and DR is excellent !
it will do much more work but it's worth it.

I don't think PK4 will ever have the same look as the original good or bad. Lots of cameras are unique, and not easily reproduced. C100, Sony F3, BMPCC on and on. I am not super impressed with the PK4 footage I have seen yet. Yes it is good, but I still think it is not what most people expected, me included. I have no desire yet to buy one..
