I cant believe 43rumors used the headline "The new G80 firmware doesn’t seem to fix the IS issue on all lenses" for that video. Anyone who's used a telephoto zoom with optical stabilisation has seen that "recoil"  effect. You can't expect a zoom of that range to be totally stable handheld. Ridiculous. I don't even have/intend to get the camera and I feel annoyed. Poor journalism and all that..

Quite a bit of difference in focal length. The 42.5mm is much more restrictive I'd say, but is great as a portrait lens for example. With 30mm you're in more of a general purpose area doing a bit of everything rather well. Both have a great look to 'em though, so I'd say mainly it's focal length you've got to think about. Don't actually know about the Sigma, but the Panasonic 42.5mm isn't too terrible to use for close up shots (macro) either. Plus, before we had OIS primes restricted to Leica, now there's Lumix ones, with OIS, including the 42.5mm, so that's a real blessing. If you have a 25mm already, maybe you can skip the 30mm for now and go for the 42.5mm. If you already have a 50mm, then maybe get the 30mm. All depends what you can use the most and lends itself for your kind of shooting.

Well for R9 280X the only downside after release of El Capitan is you will lose sleep/awake which the workaround would be disabling sleep for your system but not the monitor. If having sleep/awaking working properly is important for you, your only option is nvidia! 960 970 both should do fine. No I don't have it yet but soon, with PCPX considering you have i7 3770, should handle them (GX80) just fine.

It looks good, Im upgrading my CPU to core i7 4790K (hopefully will overclock it to 4.5) and also my GPU to an AMD card. If you are planning to use FCPX for editing I suggest to get an AMD card, the most recent one that works OOB is R9 280X, you can even find them second hand for 100~150€ if not AMD then probably GTX970 or GTX980. I don't think we would get support for 10xx series any time soon!

I picked one up today at a Panasonic store in Seoul. They told me that they only received 5 bodies.
Initial impression: not much heavier than the g7 but feels substantial in the hand and not like a plastic toy.
The body stabilization noise can be heard faintly at an arm's distance away. I couldn't hear at the shop but once I brought it home it's noticeable, so I wonder how loud it is compared to other companies ibis since this is my first camera with it.
I got it with 14-140mm mk ii since they are not shipping or even selling the 12-60mm in Korea. The dual is seems great with this lens even at 140mm hand held. Have to do more testing, but I would feel comfortable walking about shooting this zoomed in without a tripod.
I was concerned about the tracking af and it's not as intuitive as canon dpaf which just does it on its own but it seems pretty good once you set it.
Also, the lens is new but when I'm zooming in or out in the middle it seems to catch like gears are slightly rumbling(?). Just at that point it doesn't seem that smooth. Does anyone have any experience with this lens 14-140mm f/3.5-5.6 and know if this is normal?
I'm no camera expert but if anyone has any questions I can try to answer it.

I own the GH4 and just rented the GX85 to have a B cam for a wedding. I used to love the image the GH4 produced, until I used the GX85!!! It is sooooooo much cleaner, and the IBIS is a lifesaver.
Let's put it this way: When I went through the 180GB worth of video for the deliverable, 95% of the content I shipped was recorded with the GX85, as at the high ISO (1600-3200) the GH4 was undeliverable.  If the G85 is anything like the GX85, 4K delivery will be awesome.

That sucks, I could pick one up within 10min if I wanted to.
Yeah, that's also a good way. The XT2 included a 35mm if one preordered etc. Deals are everywhere for those that look
I often get 20% on new cameras the first week from one of the stores because I subscribe to their newsletter. They don't do it for things like a Canon 5Dmkiv but they did for the NX1 and A7sii. Mirrorless doesn't do very well here so they need to boost sales a little to get it going.
(BTW I definitely stopped myself from buying it, while browsing on it I accidentally impulsed a Fuji X70. So no more shopping for a while.)

Just put my preorder down for the G85 kit at B&H. Something to hold me over until the GH5.  I got it primarily for the stabilization.  I don't mind carrying my gimbal, but it doesn't work when you don't want to bring attention to yourself such as a wedding when you're a guest, not the hired videographer.  I understand it's not going to provide the same level of stabilization but I think people are getting used to the jerky movements in vlogs where a lot of camera shake during walking has become the norm.  I think I can sell the 12-60mm (unused) lens and the G85 (US import) body separately after 6 months of use and get pretty much all of my money back.  As much excitement there is for this camera, if the GH5 comes out with the same IBIS, this camera will be barely mentioned in this forum after the GH5 is released.  Whereas the GH5 will be talked about for many years after it's release.

Ehhh... SLR Magic creates some magic stuff! It's perfect. Yeah, not wide open, then again, don't start claiming Samyang lenses are. Atleast the SLR Magic is nice 'n dreamy wide open, whereas imho Samyang just shows a lack of quality. I went with the 25mm T0.95 because it seemed to outshine the competition in just about every single way. Sharper stopped down. Creamier bokeh. Work of art really. Got nothing to do with imperfections or a vintage feel? I found 'em pretty modern with a twist.
Voigtländers seem a great alternative if you were looking at all manual solid lenses, but I'm digging the SLR Magic CINE approach personally.
Also the Veydras are a superb option. Just... you can't squeeze out more light and it has a fairly tame character. But it means you get results after results everytime. If you want to get the most out of 4K, like resolving wise, that's probably where it's at.
The Lumix lenses (the older ones especially) tend to be very poppy and modern. Saturated colors, contrasty, sharp. The 14-140mm was nice combined with the softish 1080p GH2, but I probably haven't used it since. It's very videoey because of its characteristics and I'm someone who likes the possibility of shooting at f/4 or faster as well. Especially on this crop sensor format, you've got to let the light in, so I've turned to f/2.8 or faster zooms and sometimes even brighter primes. Added bonus is the ability to increase the subject isolation and really pull your subject from the background. And primes really excel at their focal length, a zoom is always kind of a consession between convenience and performance. If you forget about the Lumix glass and leave the pricey Leica glass alone, you'll find the Olympus glass is a little more classy and more middleground. You can't really fault most of their lenses. And the outstanding PRO zooms could be everything you'd ever need. 7-14mm, 12-40mm and 40-150mm f/2.8 PRO with 1.4x teleconverter option. Wowzahs. Non-PRO primes have been solid too. Think everyone here must have or have had the 45mm f/1.8 at some point. The 60mm f/2.8 is probably the best macro in the system line-up and the 75mm f/1.8 is like the holy grail portrait lens. Heard great things about the 17 and 25mm too. But... these really shine on Olympus bodies, on Panasonic, especially the non-sensor-stabilized GH4, less ideal.
Sigma had some EX DN lenses dirt cheap back in the day. 19mm and 30mm f/2.8, optically brilliant (built wise maybe not so great), cool for shooting 4K on the GH4. Earlier editions had a grippy ring. The 60mm and the newer ones had a gripless finish for some dumb reason.
In the end though, it all depends. You need the 4K for its crispness and resolving power? Do you need it for flexibility? What do you need the lenses to do? To be flexible as well? To be compact? Be close to perfection without any quirks? To nail focus? To give you a nice base image? To give you moody looks? You pick a certain camera for a reason, you pick certain glass for a reason. Needs and wants. And then there's just personal taste and preference. But atleast we live in a day and age where we get to have all these options! There isn't one lens to rule them all. That's why many of us have vast collections of different lenses, even with same focal length, just because they handle or render so differently. That's not just between modern and vintage, but as well between Panasonic Leica VS Olympus PRO and Canon FD VS Nikon AI for example.

Samin reacted to estarkey7 in question about speed boosters for m43
I just shot a wedding with the Panasonic 42.5 f/1.7 and the 20mm f/1.7 with a GH4 and a GX85. Let me say a few things about these lenses:
The speed saved my life! The electronic focus ruined my life! The weight savings saved my life! If you are going to do narrative work where there is no focus pulling, these lenses are hard to beat. The 20mm f/1.7 is waaaaay sharper than the sharp 42.5 f/1.7. Even if the camera was capable of autofocus worth a damn, you can't do it with the 20mm, the camera simply won't let you use CAF in video or photos. So if the GH5 comes out with Sony A6500 like video autofocus, the 20mm would not cut it.
I've used the Sigma 18-35 speedbooster combo, and I simply love it for shots on sticks or a slider. But when used as a shoulder mount, that rig weight makes a long day indeed.
