I think many forget one of the greatest advantages of the GH5, it can go on recording until it runs out of cards or power. I have filmed whole day conferences with the GH5 (using the power cable). No other hybrid camera can do that (other than my GX85 bought from Hong Kong with no time limit )
I wish they were cheaper though! 1500€ for a GH5/GH5s/GH6 would be great.

Yeah, NDs like the C100 or FS5 would be great. Not a weak one like the XC10.

I don't care about af but i really want magnification to check focus whilst filming. That would be huge. Change the headphone input to avoid clashes with the screen. Battery remain in minutes. Move display button. Lowlight like GH5S and lockable ibis. Prores maybe?

I'm predicted 4k 120 fps and RAW recording in a GH5s type sensor with IBIS and new AI focus system. To me that is the minimum. If they add some type of internal NDs to that you'd have a perfect run and gun camera, I'm not counting on it though. They'd need to improve on the battery system too.

About DFD: hope that Panasonic this time includes non-Panasonic lenses. If they don't support DFD for the Sigma lenses (looks like they will convert all their E-mount lenses for L-ḿount too), the system will be in serious trouble.

    Nice piece.
Oh and the cheque is in the post for this plug

Mind you, I hope the notes he was taking were along the lines of "lets track this maverick down and license it" rather than "lets track this cheeky bastard down and sue him" !

I hope so, though I can see them just thinking full frame and 4k 60p with external 10 bit is good enough. Considering no other camera has those specs. Who knows though.

If it has internal 10bit 422, that might mean the price of the GH5 and GH5S will drop, which would be good since I am considering buying one again. Here's hoping to that ?

Its a live command so doesn't actually change anything in the camera firmware (hence why you need to save it into C1, C2 etc to get it to persist when you switch the camera off) so I'm curious about this.
Are you saying it only records the 9 minute clips when it is using Cinelike D or is it with all profiles?
Is it the same length in both HD and 4K or is it that the file sizes are the same size in both and does it vary with compression setting?
To restore it, you can either load a normal profile from the C memory or just use the html file here.

Use the html file from the post above and select 'Deploy Standard'
That will restore the standard colour profile.
How big are file sizes on the card for these 9 minute pieces ?
Did you format the card in the camera or on a computer ?
    EDIT>>>>
    Hang on.
I suspect the difference is related to the card.
SDXC memory cards will do the continuous recording.
SDHC memory cards will break it into 4gig sections.
I'm going to take a wild guess that those 9 minute files are 4gig each on the card?

The GH5 is one of those cameras where far more people own one (or more) than are visible from forum posts and YT reviews etc.  They are workhorses.  Even if no more MFT cameras or lenses are released ever again there will still be many thousands of users making millions of videos per year for the next 5+ years.  4K 10-bit isn't going anywhere soon.  There are major networks in the US who still shoot 1080 and broadcast 720, and people watch YT on their phones.
My recommendation is to work out exactly what features you require in a camera system, to review your options and then go buy what you need.  If you aren't sure about a GH5 vs something newer then that means the GH5 already meets your requirements and so you're just tempted by shiny toys of new cameras.
At the end of the day, a camera is a tool to make stuff.  Either buy a GH5 and stop worrying about what's around the corner and go make stuff, or keep what you have and stop worrying about what's around the corner and go make stuff.  If you're worried about the resale value of the camera then maybe stick with the camera you already own and go buy stocks instead - tech is the worst investment possible

Well, it doesn't balance out the box, you need to add weights, but that's not a huge issue. I made a weight by taping things to the arm until it balanced, weight it all and then went to the hardware store and bought the smallest, thing I could that weighed around the same. Now I just use velcro to put it on quickly and easily. Works like a charm and it's actually easier to fine tune the balance as you can move it up and down the arm. For me, this is a great solution and I don't mind at all. Others might find it a turn off.
Once it's balanced, it's great fun to use, and so far I've always been happy with the results. The rest is all personal preferences. For example, the Sigma 18-35 1.4 is a long and heavy lens. To centre the weight of the camera, you have to move it so far back on the mounting plate that it ends up on the back motor. So you can't use this set up despite it being within the weight limits. That's a shame. But the fact the gimbal is small enough for that to happen is a big reason for many people to buy it. It fits in my bag without a problem. So if you want to use long heavy lenses, you're going to be disappointed. If you're using short or light though, it's fantastic.
My favourite so far to use is the nifty fifty, but due to its field of view, it's more susceptible to showing shakes than a 10mm lens would. I'm not a fan of those ultra wide shots, and the shakes I'm getting don't seem to be too distracting. Perhaps the Sigma 30mm is a happy medium, but it's also makes the light gimbal and the light camera heavy on the arms. Again, this all depends on what you want out of the gimbal.
As for wobble. I'll let you judge that for yourself. For me, it's more than acceptable, especially if you're filming slowmo or adding a touch of stabilisation in post. This clip was shot at 48fps in DCI ProRes LT with the 50mm at f4. The first half is played at 24fps and then after is the same edit played back in real time (real time at 2:09).
I'm filming an event this weekend solely with the P4k, and plan on using the gimbal for close to all of my Broll shots. Due to the how it'll be distributed, I will be shooting slowmotion, but will try to chop and change between 30 and 50mm to get a nice, fair comparison of the two. If I can I'll upload some of the footage, but either way I'll report back on how it was to work with for an extended period.
