Our last video made with the X-T3 + 35f2
The color grade is not perfect, but sharpness, DR, and Motion cadence are really great.

From what I've seen the difference in video IQ is negligible. However,  the X-T3 is a hybrid... the P4K is not.  So in that regard it depends on if you plan to also shoot stills.  I do both and recently picked up a strobe kit for the X-T3. Is this an option for the P4K?... It doesn't even have a hotshoe.
The P4K is NOT A HYBRID... whereas the X-T3 is. So the real question is... do you want an hybrid or not?

Yes the menus are fantastic, the general control layout - I did not realise this until today when I finally put it in my hand - is lovely. Much nicer than I expected. Even the polycarbonate plastic construction doesn't bother me. If anything it's good, because it makes for a very lightweight construction. This is a big camera by mirrorless standards but a TINY and light on by pro video standards, let alone cinema RAW proportions.
Yes there are baffling decisions going on but a lot of common sense too. I still do not like Blackmagic's launch strategy and initial shipping quantities, it is ridiculous to be tormented for months with a mix of teasing and social media hype - I almost went mad - but believe me it is worth the wait. Again like BTM says, far from perfect, or without quirks - but it is different to anything else I own and a worthy upgrade from the original - in fact it is SIGNIFICANTLY better than that first camera in every way. Something I did not realise until I actually turned up.
I am going to have so many words to eat from this thread, I'll probably choke to death.

Just my opinion about focal lengths, in APS-C sensors I consider the 16mm as a must (18mm translates to 28-30mm). Wide enough for wide shots, and tele enough for short portraits (77-80mm is close enough to classic 85mm prime lenses).
The 18-55 is 2.8-4f and the 16-55 has no IS. This is a huge disadvantage of the whole system, no real workhorse.
I consider my NX 16-50 S 2-2.8f with the very good IS as a much better and versatile solution.
The upcoming 16-80mm 4f is maybe the solution but we have to wait and see. If it was 2.8f it would be a must buy.

Yes. Despite. Was typing on my phone and missed the incorrect autocorrect.
The LCD and EVF of the A73 are rubbish compared to the others. But IQ is amazing and the gen3 bodies are really nice to work with. Plus the Tamron 28-75 is a great run and gun lens.
As an overall hybrid package it’s tough to beat.

I use the SIgma 18-35 and yes, I think it's a must have even just to experience it with the P4K. I have used it on a GH5 / GH5s / a6500 and the dof and sharpness and contrast is superb compared to other lenses that I used (maybe except the Voigts). I think it's gonna give great images paired since it's contrasty out of the gate plus the dof and you can add a Promist filter if you feel like it's too sharp, and an ND filter for daytime. You can always sell it if it doesnt suit you but you gotta experience it. I was also skeptical since I've used the 12-35, 35-100, 12-40, 12-60 mft zooms and images and video is just better with the Sigma 18-35 before grading and post. Of course you can get the same contrast and sharpness with other mft zooms by adding sharpening and grading in Resolve.

Actually, as much as I love the X-T3 ergonomics, I'm not sure to keep it.
My biggest issue is the Fuji lens system.
The faster primes are really expensive, and less good that their Sony equivalent, especially for video.

Everyone says Sony Lenses are big and expensive, and you should consider it before to go Fullframe.
    I disagree.
The Fuji 56f1.2 is three hundred more than the Sony 85 1.8, and has slower AF, is less sharp open wide, and have less nicer bokeh (sorry for my english)
The 8-16 will cost 2 grands, the 55-140 is at the same price as the Sony 70/200f4
    23f1.4 à 850€ - 14f2.8 890€ - 90f2 and 16f1.4 930€

It's very expensive for APS-C lenses, and I could accept their price if they were perfect, but they're not.

So, either I keep the fuji X-T3 but will buy f2 XR lenses only, either I sent it back.

    Cheers Christoph.
It comes down to people not realising their own strength.
Chris and Jordan are entertaining and could have stayed on YouTube with their own completely independent channel and been as popular, but they chose to move to DPR so that's the game they must play now - go to all the events, shake hands with all the PR people, miss out Photokina because 'the boss says no'.
    Don't realise their own strength.
All these YouTuber's chasing demo units and relationships with camera companies - they are falling over themselves to be slaves.
    Don't realise their own strength.
Let's just remember... Kai can leave DigitalRev and maintain 700,000+ views on each video. Who needs a fucking boss? Who needs a camera company PR event?
I like a free glass of champaign like the next man and sometimes these exclusive events are interesting... but when you look at it soberly in the cold light of day, the core business of this blog is the truth, it's not the business of drinking champaign. Why trade your core business for the odd party? Why trade real friends for fake ones at camera companies? Why?!
Fair enough, do it for access, but then at least have the balls to write the truth about camera X and camera Y, otherwise, what do you need access for? What is the access doing for the reader? Is it buttering you up, so that you become a mere salesman to your readers whereas they previously saw you as a filmmaker? Not a wise trade is it?
It's very common and unfortunately you can see the impact everywhere you look on the internet. Should be illegal.
Yeah, well we'll see how far that impartiality gets him.
    He will never get another.

Not seen the Northrup one, but the point is that the negative stuff gets softened if you're doing it from a swimming pool and you show photos of beautiful models and some amazing footage in the same breath. Was a normal review from Chris and Jordan with balanced good/bad points but people are beguiled by setting and content. All the glitz and gloss of shooting a review at a PR event gives the criticism no weight, no authority. It shouldn't even be allowed because it's subliminal advertising. Mark it as sponsored content, the whole thing.

Alex Uzan got a reaction from Kisaha in X-T3 or Pocket 4K?
    I'd say :
    - Poor battery life (40min is not acceptable)
    - Drop frame in raw 4k60 (!)
    - No way to use a powerbank and a SSD,
    - No Ibis, and Im ok with that since I have a Gimbal, but with no afc (even a bad one like GH5) it will be painful to use
    - The design with the hole on top for ventilation scares me a little for durability.
    - No remote control compatibility with any gimbal (but that could change)
    - The 120p crop
    - No tilt screen ( I don't care about fully articully)
At this time, I see no reason to buy this camera instead of the GH5 with VLOG.
Or even the X-T3 if you take stills a lot.

The old Fuji lenses like the 56mm 1.2 work a lot better with the XT3.

That said the 50mm f2 is a nice lens as well.

The highlights in general are better on the pocket, but that’s mostly because of the RAW. Not sure I said the DR in general itself was miles ahead. I am going to run some tests in better lighting and hopefully I’ll be able to share. Both great cameras.

Alex Uzan reacted to crevice in X-T3 or Pocket 4K?
I have conducted a bunch of tests comparing shots between the XT-3 and the Pocket 4k, which unfortunately I can't share because they are of my wife and she won't let me post them online. I will see if I can do some shots of other folks whom are comfortable having video of them shared online. But for now I can give a bit of insight with my findings. The highlight retention/roll off of the Pocket 4k is miles ahead of the XT-3. Having the ability to have RAW, is also miles ahead of the XT-3. Both of these are obvious to me and I pretty much knew them going in. I think we all knew this. The colors straight out of the camera, again, blackmagic wins. So is the obvious choice the Blackmagic Pocket 4k? No. Keep reading...
After all that, the combination of a more organic/slightly softer looking image and much MUCH smoother motion cadence of the Fuji XT-3, make it look more cinematic, with less work. When both cameras are out of harsh light, I prefer the video of the XT-3. Just the way the movement looks is immediately apparent and almost jarring. I know a lot has been talked about whether the pocket 4k is the same sensor of the GH5 or not, personally I am not here to say it is or it isn't, but the actual movement (motion cadence) reminded me of my old GH5. You can soften the video all you want, add grain, but tweaking motion cadence is not an easy thing. So I really value the way the motion looks.
With both arguments out there, I still don't see it as a clear choice for the XT-3 or Pocket 4k, unless you start factoring what you want out of it. If you do gimbal work, the XT-3 is hands down a better choice with its great auto focus. If you need RAW, then you don't even need to read or bother with your choice and I am not sure why you even read this far, the Pocket 4k is your choice. Screen on the pocket 4k is amazing, fujis is small and harder to use. But, you can use a small Ninja on the Fuji and record prores. With the Pocket 4k, unless you are using CFAST, you will need to mount an SSD on a cage. So with either one, chances are you will have either an ssd or monitor on top of it.  I prefer having a monitor on top, because thats an added bonus of easier to focus and choose angles.
Here is where I stand. I shoot video and do photography, pretty much 50/50. The specs of the pocket 4k blow my mind. They are amazing. But, for what I do, I am not sure if its worth having 2 cameras, 1 for photography and 1 for video, which means more gear I need to carry - as opposed to just my Fuji to do both.I bought the pocket 4k to see if it would blow my mind. It has impressed me, but has not blown my mind. I lose some, no RAW, not as great of a color science, and far better codecs. But, I also gain some with the Fuji, smaller body, easier to balance on gimbal, autofocus for gimbals, and no need to lug around 2 cameras and more lenses for each system. This last argument is whats making it harder to just keep both. The fuji regardless is staying, because its my main photography camera. Its a keep the fuji or keep both choice for me.
I am going to do more tests once the sun goes down a bit and see how they fair outside of the harsh light I tested today. Right now, I am leaning toward sending the pocket 4k back, just to simplify things. When I have too much gear , over stimulated/whelmed with choices - I end up NOT being creative. This is why I have always liked hybrids as a photographer, the camera is always on you and ready to shoot video when you need.
    Decisions, Decisions...
I am open to answering any questions on either camera.

Aware of what? Was he convicted of a crime? We are getting into very dangerous territory when all that need happen is a woman claims abuse and everyone is expected to believe each  and every word she says whilst totally ignoring comments from the opposing party. From what I can see, if something happened she should have filed charges and they both would have their day in court. Until then it is nothing more than a case of "he said, she said". I'm not defending PB... I don't have any unique information regarding this alleged incident. I'm just sick of this pitch fork mentality.
I'm sure some will take exception to what I have written. To them... you can take a long walk off a short pier. I have personally known someone that was falsely accused. Thankfully, there was an investigation and exculpatory evidence proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that the supposed victim was full of $h!t.
Really? Didn't someone once suggest something unsavory about you? Should we take their comment as fact without proof also? Glass houses my friend.

If I get it right, the X-T3 has a 1.25 crop in 4k60 + 1.53 frome the Aps-c crop factor, which give a 1.78 crop. Same as the Canon EosR, and not so different than the GH5.

After many test, I decided to keep the GH4 along with the A7iii.
I need something really reliable, maybe with less creativity possibilities, but which will never let me down in difficult situation.
As much I like the A7iii, I can't be sure that if I have some shoots to do outside at 35°, it will be usable. Also, the 4k50p is very helping when you need slowmotion or agressive stab.
Keeping both is expensive, but now I feel good about any work to come.
