How are you operating? Are you shooting monochrome / acros simulations straight into the camera, or do you prefer to shoot F-log for the extra dynamic and then editing it B&W ?
I like the monochrome look, but I thinks there's not enough dynamic (yes I shoot tone -2).
Are you obtaining a good result using F-log and a B&W Lut ?
Do not hesitate to post your personal videos in the comment.
    Thank you

    Hello guys,
I want to avoid using my bad nikon d5500 preamp so I plugged a zoom H1 to it.
H1 line out -> camera             H1 line in -> radio Transmitter line out
Does it worth it the extra bulk? have I done something wrong? any recommandation?
    Thank you

Rai TV (italia) came to me to cover an event I've organized in Poland. The cam operator had a Canon C100 mkII but he has never used autofocus at all during the whole duration of the event, it is not reliable enough according to him.
It seems that pros don't use autofocus at all, neither on Sony or Canon cameras or whatever.
Questioning the pro might be more reliable than forum.

I don't own a Fujifilm camera (mainly because they don't offer dedicated video cameras at the moment), but I worked some days with a X-T2 and compared with my Sony and Nikon hybrid cameras. More than that, end of 2017 I've done some polls on German language Social Media sites to find out more about colour preferences of my audience. The results were for me - as a NON-Fuji-owner - quite astonishing:
About 64% of the 16-25 years old spectators say, thy prefer Fuji-Colors (not graded, out of the camera color science) by far more than Nikon, Sony or even Canon. Period.
The 25-40 years old German spectators prefer mostly more neutral / cool colors out of a Sony or Nikon. Then Fuji, and Canon is on last place (lol)...
The 50-65 years old spectators prefer with 58% the Fuji color science...
Plus exceptional build quality + a very good customer care and (repair) service (speaking for Germany) + a nice and affordable lens collection. Fujifilm is miles ahead from the crappy Sony hybrid playticky cameras image capturing devices - which I own and shoot (mainly because of their dedicated video cameras offerings and insane low light capabilities of their A7R / A7S xyz line).
Last but not least: It's a pleasure (for me) to shoot a X-T2. Unlike holding the Sony hybrid shit in my hands...But as I need their dedicated video devices and beeing in the Sony lens universe, I will have to keep shooting crappy Sony hybrids...

Of the Sony lenses I own, I have the Zeiss 55mm F1.8 FE, Zeiss 35mm F1.4 ZE, Batis 25mm F2 and Batis 85mm F1.8. Can highly recommend them all, but the Sigma ART lenses are WAAAAY better value for money.
The advantage of the Sony ones is generally.... smaller, lighter, quieter, no adapter needed (obviously) but the optical performance is similar to Sigma and no giant step up even on the best lenses. In fact the Sigma 85mm F1.4 ART is better than the G-Master from Sony!

Hello I am photographer for 30 years and have been working with a lot of cameras and lenses but why is everyone only looking at sharpness? Its like driving daily in a 400 pk horsepower Porsche on at your daily destination; but a Porsche has no comfort at all ! The Sigma Art lenses are flat and have no character ! And I know it because I worked with a lot of lenses; they are only sharp;' is that all where it is going about? having a 400 horsepower car at your daily traject ??

I currently use a Sony a7s ii with native Sony glass ( Loxia 50/2 and Sony 28/2). I am considering switching systems on the GH5. I have a few questions about the system.

    1) Lenses? which to go for... Native or speedbooster. how well does the IBIS work with adapted lenses, do you have to dial in the focal length each time you change lens?

    2) Lowlight - I often shoot upto 1600, sometimes at 3200.. is the footage usable at these ISOs

    3) Dynamic Range - If I switch I plan to use VLOG.. how much difference in DR is there between the a7sii's Slog and the Gh5s VLog. Has anyone else made the switch and do they miss it?

    4) Colour - I have been using EOSHD on the Sony cameras with really nice skintones. How are the skintones on VLOG?

Thanks in advance.. if anyone else has made the switch from the Sonys to the GH5 any advice would be appretiated! and is there anything ill miss from the sonys?

Why don't you stop down the aperture to get rid of the vignetting with APS-C lenses?
Why don't you stop down the aperture to get rid of the vignetting with APS-C lenses? then you could use the XL.
Why don't you stop down the aperture to get rid of the vignetting with APS-C lenses (smaller and cheaper)?

Yeah, that Canon actually performs rather well, doesn't it. Atleast in terms of detail/sharpness... might not have given it enough thought over the years, mainly because of that mount. But like you say, there are ways. Or natively again, that 9-18mm Olympus.
Voigtländer seems to have a nice look to it, but not everybody is a fan of the quality. Kowa has an 8mm. And SLR Magic has a 10mm as well of course:
    https://www.eoshd.com/2015/01/slr-magic-10mm-t2-1-review/
For something between your both ends, 12mm is available from just about everyone. A lot of choice there, incl. Veydra.

I'm travelling for an indefinite period of time (at least a year), so I only carry the GH5, three lenses, and a microphone. So weight, volume, weather sealing, and the ability to easily attach and remove filters were the things that mattered the most to me. But I am doing video about 90% of the time.
But like I say, if you're manually focusing anyway and don't mind a bit of extra weight, I would use something that isn't fly by wire.

I have the Panasonic 8-18, and while I do love that lens and it’s sharpness for photos, it doesn’t really have the practical advantages for video you might think.
The autofocus is bad to the point where I don’t even use it for vlogging. I’ll set focus and flick the switch on the barrel to manual. It’s that bad, even in daytime sunlight.
The IBIS also doesn’t play very nice with it on the wider end. There’s a lot of jello and background warp happening there. But That will likely be the case for any lens that wide.
it is still one of the better options for the system, given that it has filter threads and has great image quality.
Just be aware that the autofocus can be maddening and fly by wire is verrrry difficult to pull reliably and consistently.
for my purposes, I still think it’s the right choice. But if you don’t mind the bulk of adapted lenses and will be doing mostly manual focusing, there are better options.

Could you show me some video you shot with tokina and speedbooster pleas?
In fact, when Im' shooting gun action, 20mm to 24mm (35mm equ) is the sweat spot to me, this laowa is too wide. 35 mm is also nice for journalism/report. I forgot to mention that I imperatively need classic filter on my lens. I've damaged an ultra wide lens  last year (no UV filter) receiving a cartridge...

I have time, I only work for my own project (but I'm printed internationally), so I'm going to invest in Foveon.
Next week, I will try the SD Quattro with some old sigma lens like the 50mm f2.8 macro and the 17-70mm (I don't need hyper fast glass), I hope it's going to be easier to manual focus than on the dp.

The Sigma will do very well in that test, because they're both APS-C sized sensors and the D5500, in the Foveon world, is considered a 6 megapixel sensor   However, against a Nikon D810/D850 (which has more pixels to de-mosaic and wider DR) things would get interesting.
Very nice shot btw.  That's is the kind of shot that I believe will look better from a Sigma.  You have specular lighting and a lot of neutral colors (gray).  The kind of stuff that makes color artifacts galore in bayer cameras.
Really looking forward to your photo comparisons!!!!!

I'm going to a Sigma shop next week in Warsaw. I will compare the dp3 Quattro to my current portrait set-up Nikon d5500 + voigtlander 58mm nokton, here is the last portrait I've shot with it :

I know this is not the same focal (50mm for the sigma), but I want to compare the colors and contrats in a studio environment and see if the sigma can surpass the Nikon bayer + Voigt.

In a studio environment, where size/weight isn't a real concern, a Nikon D8XX will be faster and more flexible than the Sigma.   Because the Sigma camera doesn't have a bayer CFA, but samples colors vertically, it can deliver as clean an image, color-wise, as the best Bayer cameras IMHO.  However, the color RED is sampled last in the sensor (bottom layer), so it loses some nuance.  Shouldn't be a problem in a studio environment, but you have to light correctly.  Also, these sensors have only 6 stops of DR.  That's MY opinion, many will say that incorrect.  But I throw it out there for you.  It does NOT detract from the camera for me, that's all I need, but it's something you should know if you're not exact with your exposure.
To use a baseball analogy, these cameras either strike out or hit home runs.  Base-hits aren't their thing.
These cameras excel in any image where a bayer sensor can be confused by thin strips of light or dark, like a person's hair in the sun.  The bayer sensor will miss color information and create color artifacts.  For example, a strand may only hit the red and green pixel, creating a reddish little blotch after de-bayering (but you'd need to pixel peep).  The Sigmas don't succumb to this.  So outside, with a strong backlight, the Dp3 can take a portrait that exceeds what any Bayer sensor camera can do--in a very small package.
In short, if you need to travel light, can work slow, and want to do some portraits outside, and you have good light, the Dp3 can deliver shots that will bring tears of joy to your eye.  Also the images do have a different look.
This is a fact, if they were as fast and sensitive as bayer sensors no one would use anything else.  I recommend that every serious photography try these cameras out.  So I recommend doing what Mattias did.  I'd certainly LOVE to see some portraits done with the camera.  One my list of things to do one day too. (I had a dp2q).

Not especialy - the bodies can be found very cheaply but to get a good set of lenses will set you back quite a lot of money. If I were starting a MF digital system from scratch on on a budget I'd be looking at a 645 system.
