    Understood.
Are you using Davinci for post-editing? Whenever I've had clips with different frame rates I make sure to first set my timeline to the desired framerate (and not let it automatically decide framerate based on the clip properties). then I just work on the ones that I want to conform first by doing multiselect on those clips and then right click, change speed, and set the framerate to 24.
Also, I've noticed since updating to Davinci 17 that when I specify a project framerate of 24 fps, all those 23.98fps clips appear as 24fps once I drop them onto the timeline...so I really don't think the aforementioned additional step is even needed  if using the latest version of Davinci 17 and specifying project framerate beforehand.

It's about consistency, especially when you're working on professional projects. If I deliver 23.98 fps footage to someone that hired me to film b-roll for their feature or documentary, I'm probably not going to get hired again. That footage needs to seamlessly fit into their work flow. Having a hard on for it really has nothing to do with it.
If you're personally filming stuff for your own project, then shoot in whatever frame rate your heart desires.

It is one less step I have to do in post. In a multiple camera set-up, it is one less headache if I can set all cameras to 24 fps.

Did the update also add true 24.0 fps?

Why aren't DCI 4k (Cinema 4k) and true 24 fps standard on all Lumix cameras?
Is it technically possible to have 48 fps outside of the High Frame Rate setting? Is this something that can be implemented via a firmware update?
What are some of the barriers engineers could potentially face bringing 8k technology to the Micro Four-Thirds format?

Okay, it's early in the morning/late at night here.  I found this thread and thought I was dreaming about being back in the past viewing an Osmo Pocket topic for the first time. I have one of these currently.  It's okay for what it does.  I took it with me on a hiking adventure.  It worked fine enough, but the internal microphone placement and lack of a decent built in microphone jack led me to purchasing the 3.5mm adapter and a couple microphones.  Now, I am contemplating letting it go until there is a version 2.0.

The ball is in Sony's court?  What?  I don't understand the Sony reverence.  Panasonic, Olympus, Samsung, and even Canon have introduced cameras with Cinema 4k and actual 24fps.  Sony hasn't.  Moreover, Sony can't even create a camera without overheating issues.
Sony needs to play catch up in so many ways they shouldn't even be mentioned as a viable option for anyone but masochists.

I like the user interface and how easy it is to find and select the settings you want to use. I really like the image and the motion from the camera. There seems to be less ghosting in 24 fps than I was getting with my GH5.  For me, it is easier to get the image I want in camera as long as I am not in the scene.
I was getting about 40 minutes per battery. 5 batteries got me through a Quinceanera gig, but I was sweating toward the end.  One battery left with about 70%.
Storage was a challenge. I started with ProRes HQ and ended the day in ProRes 422 and ProRes LT.
The lack of a remote live view was only an issue because my friends and I had a horror movie contest for Halloween. The rules were:
One person had to do everything. There could be no help. We had to write it, shoot it, act in it, edit it, and put it online. The challenge was getting the footage I needed in a timely fashion.  I shot my video the morning of the deadline, put it together, and uploaded on time.

It was more me being sad that such an app doesn't exist. Instead of just moping around I put together a video of how I use the Panasonic App. Maybe someone in the loop will see that and decide it's a feature worthy of being in future cameras.

Mckinise reacted to kye in Canon M50 mirrorless camera features 4K video
I agree with the above, but would add that 4K can be nice for talking head stuff for people whose channels are higher quality and more like they're the presenter of a show rather than someone recording inane verbal diarrhoea to amuse themselves while in-transit to somewhere unimportant (which - let's be honest - is most vlogs).  This camera could easily do the presenter style videos because those people shoot under controlled conditions (essentially in a studio set) and so manual focus and a chair with a backrest would work well in these instances.  RS doesn't matter as much if the camera is on a tripod and it's just a person talking.
If they had to make compromises (it's Canon, so we'll let the ML team determine if they were necessary) then they're not so bad for vlogging I think.

At 3:30 in the video he mentions: "GH5 firmware to enhance performance might be developed if there is customer demand."
What are some realistic performance enhancements for the GH5?
Also, what ever happened to 48fps?  It was a noted feature of the Summer 2017 firmware update.

I wonder if some of the issues with Cadence have to do with the monitors being used and the settings.  I can see differences in the fluidity of movement.  I have several monitors and televisions.  How the image is being processed and what settings are being used is very important.  The same image on one display or monitor may seem a bit off compared to one of my televisions.

Agreed. I hope they do implement each and every item we mentioned.  That camera would be the Holy Grail for many of us.  Well, at least until the next Holy Grail.  Right now, I am looking forward to using the GH5 on my next feature, and honestly, I will be content for quite some time.
Keeping up with the Cinematic Joneses is both expensive and time consuming.  I get more accomplished when I am not researching the next big thing.

That is a lot for Sony to add.  They still haven't added Cinema 4k or an actual 24fps option.  Canon, Panasonic, and Olympus all have those two features in their flagship models.  They also need to find a definitive way of keeping their cameras from overheating during normal use.
