Mckinise got a reaction from webrunner5 in Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K
I like the user interface and how easy it is to find and select the settings you want to use. I really like the image and the motion from the camera. There seems to be less ghosting in 24 fps than I was getting with my GH5.  For me, it is easier to get the image I want in camera as long as I am not in the scene.
I was getting about 40 minutes per battery. 5 batteries got me through a Quinceanera gig, but I was sweating toward the end.  One battery left with about 70%.
Storage was a challenge. I started with ProRes HQ and ended the day in ProRes 422 and ProRes LT.
The lack of a remote live view was only an issue because my friends and I had a horror movie contest for Halloween. The rules were:
One person had to do everything. There could be no help. We had to write it, shoot it, act in it, edit it, and put it online. The challenge was getting the footage I needed in a timely fashion.  I shot my video the morning of the deadline, put it together, and uploaded on time.

It was more me being sad that such an app doesn't exist. Instead of just moping around I put together a video of how I use the Panasonic App. Maybe someone in the loop will see that and decide it's a feature worthy of being in future cameras.

Mckinise reacted to kye in Canon M50 mirrorless camera features 4K video
I agree with the above, but would add that 4K can be nice for talking head stuff for people whose channels are higher quality and more like they're the presenter of a show rather than someone recording inane verbal diarrhoea to amuse themselves while in-transit to somewhere unimportant (which - let's be honest - is most vlogs).  This camera could easily do the presenter style videos because those people shoot under controlled conditions (essentially in a studio set) and so manual focus and a chair with a backrest would work well in these instances.  RS doesn't matter as much if the camera is on a tripod and it's just a person talking.
If they had to make compromises (it's Canon, so we'll let the ML team determine if they were necessary) then they're not so bad for vlogging I think.

At 3:30 in the video he mentions: "GH5 firmware to enhance performance might be developed if there is customer demand."
What are some realistic performance enhancements for the GH5?
Also, what ever happened to 48fps?  It was a noted feature of the Summer 2017 firmware update.

I wonder if some of the issues with Cadence have to do with the monitors being used and the settings.  I can see differences in the fluidity of movement.  I have several monitors and televisions.  How the image is being processed and what settings are being used is very important.  The same image on one display or monitor may seem a bit off compared to one of my televisions.

Selling Pansononic GH5. It was purchased for a video project that never happened. It has Never been used on a shoot. There have been no photos taken using the mechanical shutter. The only action it has seen was me taking it out of the box and trying out the 6k photo mode and stabilization features.
This consisted of me literally walking around the house shooting video. It has all of the accessories, manuals, etc. It also has the receipt.
I also have two Brand New still in the package PNY 128 GB 95 MB/s U3 memory cards. I will sell those for $55 a piece or $100 for both.
If you purchase the entire lot for $2000 I will throw in a 3rd 128 SD Card. It is a SanDisk 128 GB 90 MB/s U3 memory card.
I used it for the walking around the house taping and maybe a volleyball game on my G7.
I accept Paypal. Same day shipping as purchase.

Agreed. I hope they do implement each and every item we mentioned.  That camera would be the Holy Grail for many of us.  Well, at least until the next Holy Grail.  Right now, I am looking forward to using the GH5 on my next feature, and honestly, I will be content for quite some time.
Keeping up with the Cinematic Joneses is both expensive and time consuming.  I get more accomplished when I am not researching the next big thing.

That is a lot for Sony to add.  They still haven't added Cinema 4k or an actual 24fps option.  Canon, Panasonic, and Olympus all have those two features in their flagship models.  They also need to find a definitive way of keeping their cameras from overheating during normal use.

Mckinise got a reaction from TheRenaissanceMan in Panasonic G7 or Sony a6300 for feature film
No matter how prepared you are for the project, there will always be a few instances where things just go awry.  The 6300 has many pros, but reliability in the clutch is NOT one of them.  The Panasonic G7 will give you that reliability you need when everything else is falling apart.

The ball is in Sony's court?  What?  I don't understand the Sony reverence.  Panasonic, Olympus, Samsung, and even Canon have introduced cameras with Cinema 4k and actual 24fps.  Sony hasn't.  Moreover, Sony can't even create a camera without overheating issues.
Sony needs to play catch up in so many ways they shouldn't even be mentioned as a viable option for anyone but masochists.

Mckinise got a reaction from IronFilm in 23.976fps or 24fps for distribution of a feature film?
Are you talking theatrical release?  My understanding has always been to aim for 24 fps for theatrical.  I googled DCP post production houses and found the following.  Many of other Post Production facilities make similar statements.

Mckinise got a reaction from tweak in Crop factors of current 4K cameras - correct me if I'm wrong
This defies conventional thinking about the GH4 crop but I have been estimating it to be closer to 2.5 for DCI Cinema 4k and 2.6 for UHD based upon the calculations from this article:
    http://gh4crew.co.uk/?p=460
FHD 1920×1080 (16:9 Full Sensor Width) crop factor = 2.18
    4K 3840×2160 (16:9 Cropped Sensor Width) crop factor = 2.18 x 1.2 = ~2.6 (test calculated: 2.616)
    C4K 4096×2160 (17.07:9 Cropped Sensor Width) crop factor = 2.18 x 1.14 = ~2.5 (test calculated: 2.485)
