I use this script for downscaling to 1080p 10-bit. It was done by karl from Personal View:
      It works with 0-255.

You can use ecryptfs which produces "normal" files just with scrambled names and contents (used for example by Ubuntu if you select encryption of the home directory during the install) as well as block level encryption (see LUKS and Librecrypt for Windows use) that can work either on a complete card, a partition or use a file on the card as a block device. Both are vastly better than encryption after the image was saved.
Also an option is to use network share to store photos so nothing is on the camera either way (but it's quite slow, around 3MB/s so ~4s per full resolution jpeg).
The problem I have with nx500 is that it hangs if it cannot open the file it thinks exists (even the simple deletion from terminal can confuse playback).

Venice looked nice. Curious what lens is producing all that chromatic aberration though.. it was pretty horrendous in a lot of those shots. Like if I was trying to teach someone what chromatic aberrations look like, I'd probably just have them watch the first minute of your video.
like damn if that's not pretty distracting

Here a quick test were you can see something.Of course the light is quite shitty, but the day out was horrible (a lot of rain)...
It's made with my vintage lens m42 Takumar smc 35-50-200 mm.I think that if we want to test possible purple fringe we have to use a newer lens(my takumar has  just purple fringe without the adapter...so..)As you can see the increase of light is really good and the sharpness too, in all of the frame for me(I ve to make some test at work with a grade 1 monitor for really better result).
I've noticed a little flou effect on 50mm takumar at 2.8 f..I've to investigate better because I'm not sure that is the adapter.
All the clips are taken with a tripod in the same position.
I will post the camera setting later, and a wetransfer link with the original files(this are converted in h264 from Premiere cc ...sorry but I've to work again this evening, I hope that this will be useful for someone!
p.s. when I have buied the adapter from Luca I've to tell that I was thinking..."why I've to spend all of this money for a simple piece of metal with a lens ...when I've see the piece I've understood that the construction is really complicated(if Luca want, I can post some detail of the adapter..)

I'm sorry but I'm out for work until tomorrow...I will make some video test on Monday! But I've to say that I've make a little superficial test and I can say that is really sharp..and...for sure we gain something like a stop(more or less)And the construction is really really well done!

Camera does not know actual distance, I've wanted to calibrate my lenses (it's straight forward procedure to record reported focus values at exact distances from the sensor at, let's say, 5 points and interpolate the others as it's not linear) but never had the time. We would also need to find a faster way to get focus distance value as the current method takes ~0.3s which is too slow.

Wow. Canon EF lenses working WITH IS on an NX1.... THAT would be some large jar of awesome sauce.

As for the hack - It's fine if it doesn't go any further because it already has added so much. I say "let it be finished". One less thing to always be updating, right?
As for it only adding "ten-percent better image quality", well that's HUGE. That's a lot. Especially if it's doing it right where it's needed.
For critical images it has been worth the effort. I can get footage to work when cut in with higher-grade cameras now that that grunge in the shadows has been cleaned up. That was enough. Heck, it's everything really. If not for that one factor, I probably would have had to let my NX1 go in exchange for something a lot more expensive.

Eeeh?  Even for Metabones 10k is chump change.  10k won't get you a single good developer for 6 months.  I'm certain that at least a few people worked for quite some time on that.  That said, progress would be much faster if I had a 40 hour week to work on this instead of maybe a handful of hours every other weekend or so.

If your player gives you an option to choose resizing algorithm, try "lanczos", but I really don't see "sharpening" as an issue.

re original issue: Destroying the footage with "softening" just to look good when you playback 4K on 1080p (when your player uses poor resizing algorithm) does not make sense.

Hello everyone, sorry for my absence but these days I had to work commitments.
I will try to suit guests Dere to the most important questions.
Thanks ttbek from you technical advice but just me right now I can state with certainty the stop difference. It is very close to -1 stop, (soon I will make a test to evaluate this feature).
As for sharpness, the raw test that I posted, it is fammo first with normal lens, the picture later with adapter took too much light and reflection of white table has over illuminated the scene distorting the result and sharpness. Place another file shot with Canon 50mm f1.8 a photo taken on a wall in broad daylight.

Hello Kidzrevil, usually you have a good eye, in fact, have you noticed that the crop is less than NXL can do,  but you have not thought to stabilize images in Premiere the picture is cropped! The original file has larger frame.
Meanwhile'm excited to have received your new NXL. I love it!!! They are almost ready. I ask only a little patience. Bye!

Thanks Marco, but it has only one SPI?  I think this project needs two off the top of my head.  Also my friend already has owns a Nano, which is why we went for it for now.  Finally, the Bluering code is written on the Nano and gives us a slight head start.

You're having a paranoid fantasy, Marco.  I design the Speed Booster optics, and my colleague Wilfried designs the mechanical mount.  Together we own the optical design patents and the "Speed Booster" trademark.  That's it - just two people.  We work with subcontractors to manufacture and QC the optical cells, and sell the those cells to Metabones, which itself is just a tiny company.  Any public statement from Metabones about Speed Boosters probably comes from me, so when you say that Metabones is lying you are essentially saying that I am lying.  There is no lying going on here.  I doubt that Samsung - which is a truly enormous company - was even aware of Speed Boosters, much less that its presence or absence played any role at all in their decision to leave the camera business.  No one from Samsung or Sony has *ever* contacted me about Speed Boosters, or anything else for that matter.
Wilfried and I looked at the Samsung NX mount on several occasions, and concluded it was just too much trouble to deal with due to the metal parts surrounding the sensor.  Based on our analysis, it would require several rectangular elements (similar to one of the Lens Turbo designs), which are much more difficult to make and mount accurately.  It would also require a substantial re-design of the Speed Booster optics, which have a unique performance advantage at extremely large apertures (read the patents if you want to understand this).  I personally had big hopes that the NX-mini mount would take off, since that was much more amenable to high quality focal reducer designs with larger reduction ratios - much like the BMCC and BMPCC from BlackMagic.  But unfortunately both NX and NX-mini have both become extinct except for whatever product remains in the marketplace.

The updated v2.50 is up, which should fix the issue with camcorder mode on boot.

    When in comes to donations:
Q: So, where's the Donate button?
A: Nowhere. Find a suitable charity and donate. If you cannot afford it, find a local charity and see if they need help in person - it will do you a world of good.

    cheers

I measured roughly some time ago and got ~8ms rolling shutter for 2.5k on NX500. All other modes (FHD, UHD, 4K) were 24-30ms.
Could someone else verify that and could someone more experienced than me guesstimate whether it's skipping lines, binning, etc? Occasional weird horizontal line pattern suggest it might skip lines but I'm not sure how to check properly.

@sandro I created a small tool that shows a button with black background and white text at given position and size that enables one to have on screen "button" for REC or SHUTTER or whatever.
You could use it as it is as a "black screen" (just set the text to " " and position to 0 0 and size to 720 480) and to start the time lapse. I do it often to preserve the battery (AMOLED uses almost nothing for black screen). To remove it from screen just press and hold it for 5+ seconds. I also made a separate tool for time lapse that can have black screen as well as black screen with small red frame counter (useful). It can also make short videos instead of photos (let's say 10s video every 2 minutes, etc).
