Same thing here! I will only buy an RF cine camera as an addition to hybrid camera because it's the main tool for what we do, even though we use video cameras for some projects.

Who can really know besides Canon, however at the time of the official R5 launch, I had open a pre-order for the R5 at one shop and at another shop I had a pre-order for R5 and the R6.  I received R5 shipping notification July 29th from the one shop where I pre-ordered the R5 only,  but the shop where I had a pre-order for the R5 and R6 sent the following email on the 31st of July.
"We have cancelled your pre-order for the R5. A refund has been processed and will be in your account in 3-4 business days. I found out only yesterday that there was a delay that was not communicated with us from Canon that has affected our ability to ship the R5 and will also affect our ability to ship the R6 on time as well."
So thinking back, I have never seen or heard of a shop automatically cancelling and refunding payments to customers unless they had a real reason to do so.

    Agreed.
Its got more more than a whiff of this about it.

Particularly the having to take refuge in a fridge aspect.

    Very weird...
Speaking on the external recording, He actually says  'we don't know if it has potential to damage your camera, and please do keep that in mind'
I guess if Canon doesn't speak to it, the shops have to say something to their customers.

Thinking about it, I'd go as far as to say that he's talking in such cautionary terms about the video features as though he were describing them as being some sort of "use at your own risk" modification like Magic Lantern rather than an actual finished, manufactured, retail product from a world leading brand.
    It is utterly, utterly weird.

I like ProAV as a company to buy from and their videos about products are hype free and informative.
However, I think that video is a misstep by them and there are some presumptions in there from them about how you could use it that won't leave them with a leg to stand on when people want to return them.
I'm utterly baffled why they would make a video about something with that many caveats in it without closing with "and of course we won't be taking any orders for these until all of these issues are at the very least clarified by Canon".

    No it does not overheat.
It is a fake information displayed on the screen to stop you for recording video HQ based on time and not temperatures.

Canon never says taking a 60 pictures per hour will stop you from taking video in HQ mode.

Sorry; These are plain lies from the brand that limits the video capability drastically. The 8K logo on the main poster is clearly misleading. This was never explained anywhere.

    Very good point, thanks.
So we have a range of Internal temp from 33C to 65C, with OVERHEATED! SHUTTING DOWN error at 33C but not at 65C.
And do we need to put it in the damn oven before we get a response from Canon?

I'm not sure what will be the outcome of all this Canon overheat issue.

But in any case, it have helped me clearing a lot of so called "opinion leader" / Youtubers and other Facebook group that claim knowing something and analyzing a problem.

I listen people talking about their oven and explain why a R5 take 2 hours to cool down 😂
I have witness someone who never touched the camera and able to do a review, holding another body in their hand..
And when the facts became so obvious, and so their previous statement useless, they just jump to another subject. Their is no correction, excuses or update.

It shows how today's world is driven only by audience and not facts.

Shooting those JPEGs must be real heavy lifting for it to get so hot it can't do high quality video after.
And 33C internal temp must really tax the CPU!

    @Andrew Reid
Test this morning - Outdoor temp 77°.
Each take was 5 minutes per video clip with a JPEG shot immediately after each clip, then immediately started recording the next 5 minute video clip. 4K HQ
    EXIF data temps:
    Video take 1. - 31 C
    JPEG: 42 C
    Video take 2. - 41 C
    JPEG: 49 C
    Video take 3. - 48 C
    JPEG: 53 C
    Video take 4. - 53 C
    JPEG: 57 C
    Video take 5.  - 56 C
    JPEG: 59 C
No overheat warning so tried another 5 minute clip with take 6...
    Video take 6. - 59 C  ( threw the overheat warning 38 seconds into the clip )
Overheat shut down at 3 minutes 19 seconds into the clip, immediately powered the camera on to take last photo...
    JPEG: 60C

How can the camera build up heat to throw the overheat warning sitting in the menus at idle but run for extended times externally without getting a warning? Firmware cripple??
How can one shoot in 102 degrees externally for an hour with a camera that is said to overheat without even a overheat warning, but overheat internally indoors in cool air? Firmware cripple??
How can one get exif data that says the camera had a temp of 65 C / 149 degrees in 100 + degrees operate without an overheat warning but another user saw overheat warning at 46 C?? Firmware bugged the F out??
Doesn't really matter if it was intentional or accidental, it doesn't make sense and should be corrected.

    Todays test:
Recorded 4K HQ externally with Ninja V - Canon LP Battery in camera for 1 hour continuous with no card in camera.  ( at 1 hr the cameras very HOT to the touch ) all this in direct sun light, and very hot.  No overheat warning.
At the hour mark, I take the camera indoors but continue the recording externally. I immediately insert the CFexpress card while still externally recording. The camera temporarily shuts down but immediately comes back on when the card door is shut, it continues to record externally.  still no overheat warning.
I shut down the external recording, camera reads 25 minutes available in 4k HQ internally... as well as full times available in all other modes.
Switch modes then take two photos back to back.
The first photo shows 65C in the exif data for camera temp
The second photo shows 64C in the exif data for camera temp... these photos were a second apart.

    @mechanicalEYE beta testing for Canon.
Non of that behavior makes any sense especially since that same timer will decrease to zero with the camera not recording anything and sitting in a menu.
Sounds like a bug in Canons cripple timer implementation.

He put it in the fridge for ELEVEN HOURS!!
The CFexpress card doesn't make a difference for me. Sure they get much hotter than SD cards but I get the same run times in 8K to CFe as I do to SD card

In good news for owners of cameras that don't cause internet rage wars, Atomos have announced v10.53 pre-release Beta version for ProResRAW on the Sigma fp and Fuji GFX100.
Slight snag is the link in their tweet just goes to the usual Ninja V firmware download page where the new firmware or a sign up option to apply for it is nowhere to be seen !
I'm sure they'll sort it out though.
If I ever get round to using a camera again for actually making images with rather than testing a product with it then I'll be really looking forward to trying this with the fp.

Andrew, I've attached a screenshot of HQ, and Non HQ. Theres a visible difference.
For me, mirrored display throws the overheat warning at 37 minutes, and shuts down at 42 minutes.
Also note when my camera threw the overheat warning at 22 minutes while at idle, I had no card in camera just set to record HQ mode.
Seems like you could get unlimited recording dependent upon battery life when screen is on power save. I have seen no overheat warnings here.
Without card in slot, it shut down in 42 minutes ( screen was on )
With a Cfexpress card in slot, but recording to HDMI it seemed as if the card made no impact to the times as battery died first. ( Screen was off )
    I'll try SD card.
