Got myself some new glass for Christmas. I do prefer native lenses but the Sigma Speedbooster combo works really well! Screengrabs from GH5 + Speedbooxter XL + Sigma 35/1.4 + Black Pro Mist 1/4.
Edit. Oh yeah, thanks to @jase and @kidzrevil for introducing me to Black Pro Mist, and other, filters.

@kidzrevil yes they make all of their lenses in the F Mount... that last one is a Tokina 24-40mm f/2.8 in F mount.
Here’s the same lens on the NX500. This was when I would just slap a LUT (multiple) on everything, but you can see how it looks with a 2.5x crop...
And finally here is a screengrab with that lens from the D5500... so a S35mm crop. I was going through a tint phase, to try and find a simple vintage look... so the colors are kinda weird... I actually like it, but I am probably one of the only people around here that will...

Ricardo Constantino reacted to Oliver Daniel in “The Middle Path”: A Lumix GH5s Short
This video proves that GH5 "S" is not only a low light camera, but a lowlight sea MONSTER. It also works underwater, as the scene gives us obvious clues to this feature.
Also the use of boats suggest that it will be shipping soon.

@kidzrevil how do you do this highlight glow? looks so damn cool

Ricardo Constantino reacted to Cinegain in Lenses
Well, if you'd have read what it said 'w/ tiffen pearlescent filter', you'd know.
https://tiffen.com/diffusion/
I think filters like these (and e.g. Smoque 1 or Ultra Contrast (low) 1 & 3) are underrated, more people should give that kinda thing a go.

Ricardo Constantino reacted to AaronChicago in GH5 to Alexa Conversion
@sage just bought your LUT set and going to test out on some existing anamorphic V Log footage that I have.
EDIT: I had time to test in one one shot. VLog to Alexa Log C to Kodak Elite Chrome 200

Ricardo Constantino got a reaction from Dustin in Panasonic G85 review - is there any need to get an Olympus E-M1 Mark II for video?
@Dustin just FYI if you go with the Nikon Speedbooster/Lens Turbo/Adapter be aware that you have to manually choose the focal length for IBIS to work since you don't have any electronic communication with the body.

Ricardo Constantino reacted to Fritz Pierre in Panasonic seems to be announcing something "BIG" on December 15
AF is not that bad at all though I don't use it....I did however play with it to see...the real problem IMO is people want to bypass the skills to operate a camera this complex and essentially want a feature loaded GH5 that acts like a point and shoot....the gimbal issue comes up a lot...the sollution, unless you're Martin Scorsese, making Goodfellas, shoot shorter takes and employ some of the skills steadycam operators have used for years...like locking focus in manual mode, and then maintaining a constant distance from the sublject....or using a lens in the case where this is impossible with a short infinity distance and shooting away...for those complaining about GH5 AF on gimbals, I suggest viewing some steadycam reels on Vimeo or YouTube....and try to imagine the obstacle course the operators are navigating to achieve their incredible results....without AF and a camera setup that weighs between 25 and 45 lbs...in other words, stop blaming the camera and developer your own skills....for run and gun, either learn to focus manually or put up with what it can do, which is not as bad as reported...with AF the skill lies in where you can use it with this camera and where not.

Ricardo Constantino reacted to D.M.Weiss in EOSHD+SamsungNX1+SLRMagic=Feature Film Distribution
Ok, so how does that all add up? Simple, I started reading Andrew's site a few years ago and learned everything I needed to know about the Samsung NX1 and SLR Magic Anamorphot 1.33x adapter. I decided to use them on our first feature film. After numerous film festivals and special events our film, Black Luck, signed an International distribution deal with Indie Rights. Yes, we probably would have done the film without this knowledge, but I'm not sure it would have had the same look or feel. The camera and adapter worked amazingly well and proved that a no budget indie thriller can still have a high production value. I can't thank Andrew enough for educating me and so many other filmmakers about the possibilities of shooting a feature film with these great tools.
Cheers!
David
P.S. If you want to check the film out, it just launched on Amazon Prime. Read the reviews as well. This isn't some masterpiece of cinema, but it is a satisfying movie created with passion.

I can hear Eminem's "Lose Yourself" playing over this.

Ricardo Constantino reacted to Inazuma in Is it still rule today to think about m43 cameras as -2x light performance to full frame
Its because of Tony Northrup and some other mistaken jebroni's that people think cropped sensors gather less light than full frame.

Ricardo Constantino reacted to Orangenz in Panasonic GH5 - all is revealed!
I don't know what caused the person who filmed that to fall on his head and damage his brain so much that he thought filming that was a good idea. Maybe the same insanity that Kathy Griffin had? Utterly insensitive and stupid.

Ricardo Constantino reacted to BenEricson in SONY PMW F3 - "Direct Menu" where is it ?
They probably went with the LP-6 due to weight and size? The micro cinema always uses those batteries... Which also sucks.
You know what, I couldn't tell you because I have never used the internal recording. I do like to over expose a stop or two at times to get clean shadows, I would image this is more of a problem with the low bitrate. It is seriously difficult to get the F3 to fall apart. I will say that I use the C300ii quite a bit and the image on the F3 is pretty similar, (besides crummy indoor lighting, where Canon does so well at staying bright and colorful.) I do think it has one of the best 1080p images available. You do need to know that unless you have upgraded to the 444 version of the F3, you will not be able to get 60p with the video assist. You can with the 7Q without the upgrade, but that is much more expensive and a lot bigger/heavier. Also, for whatever reason there is a bug that causes the bottom pixel to flicker when using the video assist and capturing 60p/3g.
I buy directly from SWIT. These guys are really good about shipping. I ordered Monday at 4pm and they shipped it out the same day and I will have it tomorrow. I currently own a 63w but just purchased that bigger one because it was on sale. I'll probably buy another if it works out. These are seriously convenient. http://www.swit.us/dv-batteries.html
I have been using Canon LUTS and I am really happy with the results. I am working on a longer project that will be graded professionally, very excited to see how far we can push the files. I attached a couple stills. I think in almost all of these, I am exposing ETTR. I am really happy with how much saturation is held when over exposing.
I have the F3 rigged right now but no photos... This is a very minimal low footprint setup, could be used on a monopod or something.
