I shot another video with the GH5 and SLR Magic 50mm 2x anamorphic prime. Calling it Chicago II. Here is one frame that is my favorite.

The 2x anamorphic lens won't work with focal lengths shorter than 80mm (on fullframe). So Nikon 50mm f1.8 will probably work but the others won't.
    SLR MAGIC says:
So not sure if it will work with the zoom lenses. Like Tweak said, get som cheap vintage lenses, they will do the job. Get a Pentax SMC, old Canon FD's or other lenses.

Few more things that you need to be aware of, before buying a 2x anamorphic lens.
If you're looking for a true focusthrough anamorphic, SLR magic may be not the one. The lens has 2 modes, Near and Far. You have to set your anamorphic lens attachment according to the focus distance. Using 2x anamorphics won't let you shoot slowmo. The 4:3 mode is accessable only in 4K photo mode. No 1080p! Well, you can shoot with it in 1080p, but your final image will be 3.66:1. You can't go wide with 2x lens. The min. focal length is 80mm (on fullframe). With the 1.33x you can shoot at 40mm (FF). You have to shoot really stopped down to avoid soft image. Some says F5.6-8. These are just few things I found out before I purchased my lens. These are just some downsides, of course it has a brighter side as well  You get the oval bokeh, flares and the waterfall look. So, it's your preference

Buy some cheap FDs or Takumars. 24 or 28, 35 and a 50 should cover most situations. Newer lenses with complex designs and zooms don't tend to work as well. You can get those lenses I listed for pennies.

Also I would advise getting a vintage 2nd hand 2x adapter rather than the SLR, you will save a ton of money, put that into lenses and diopters.

Currently, I'm using the RJ Focal Reducer 0.72x, Helios 44-2 MMZ and Helios 44m, and Bolex Moller 8/19. I'm considering trying some EF taking lenses, so if any of you in here have any good recommendations for some nice EF lenses to go along with my Baby Moller, I'd appreciate it.

Here's a recent video I just shot with this setup. GH4 + RJ Focal Reducer + Helios 44-2 MMZ + Baby Moller.

Maybe you should watch it fullsize, fullscreen with your monitor at full brightness, then you'll be able to spot a couple of things... but the grab with the 'Police'-guy. Dang. It really doesn't get any better than that. Such striking composition, lighting, color. Everything just falls into place on that one.

One more question and then I'll leave you be... I know you're using the atmos now, but before you started using it, am I right in assuming you were converting to prores? And if so, am I also right in assuming you were editing and delivering in 4K?
    Thanks again!!!

I became aware of this thing through this forum. So I guess Im kicking in wide open doors here.
But I like it so I thought I show my results anyway.

I got both the Nikon to E-Mount and NX.

My first thought was, shortly the ND must be bad and soften the image.
Well, compared to my proven Genus Eclipse its actually sharper...

It has a shift towards yellow. But its so small that after grading its not visible anymore, even without correcting.,

    Some moving images and review.

I use the original .74 I think Metabones that I got for a steal over at Fred Miranda. I use this on my G7 with no issues on all my Nikon lenses.  The only issue I have had is with my 1.7 extender from Nikon, it got stuck on the Metabones, I thought I might break both to get them apart, but I was finally able to get them loose.  I am looking to get a second G7 and another Metabones, probably the XL, or try one of the cheaper ones.

G7 is a totally natural progression from the G6 , it does all the G6 does plus more - so sell your g6 and buy a G7

Dang,. This is good news.  I was all set to get a GH4 to go with my G7, but I think I may with this news invest in another G7 and an Atomos Ninja Assassin.  I was planning on buying a 7" monitor anyway.

Rectilux is a tad sharper than FM Lens. My story between these two is following:
I first ordered the Rectilux. I was in the line for the first patch. Well when got it there were some quality check issues in first patch. So the focus wasn't as smooth as should and there was few screws missing... So I was a bit disapointed after the long wait and for the focus quality. So I returned it and bought FM Lens instead.
But I ordered the FM Lens from one German guy who customs FM lenses.
    anamorphic-germany.com
And here is the guys Vimeo profile: vimeo.com/user37855100
He makes possible to mount Kowa 8z inside the FM Lens, but I had to send it for him to but it insde. So it's Kowa lens only now. But I don't mind. He made it focus as close as possible (40cm), installed focus gears on it and made possible to mount very good quality ND fader infront of it.
SO the conclusion. Both have goods and bads. Rectilux is a tad sharper which I regret a bit. But FM Lens was so much betterly assembled straight from the box. Also mine focuses extra close now that I asked that option to be added.
Kowa 8z by itself is one of the best glass investments. Really like how it performs.

Here is from last summer a little test between FM Lens and Rectilux adapters. Kowa 8z inside on both.

I'm in love with the look of the Kowa 35 1.75x Inflight shot in 4k 3840x2160 in 16:9 mode on GH4.
Here is my first test with a pretty lady I know walking around three different taking lens. 1. Olympus Zuiko 38mm f1.8 2. Zeiss Ultron 50mm f1.8 and the Voigtlander 42.5mm f0.95. I love this lens. I love the single coating and the way it flares and how it transforms the character of the taking lens so well. I hope you enjoy this vintage anamorphic lens porn my friends. Watch in 4k. cheers! Ian

That eBay seller is a rip-off artist.  Anything he's selling, you can find cheaper elsewhere.

Lens will be out this summer and there will be a front attachment too making it a single focus anamorphic. I shot this short with the SLR Magic anamorphot 2X.
Different taking lenses. Voitlander 17.5mm, SLR Magic 35mm, Canon FD 50mm 1.2, Helios 58mm. Diopters used.
