I just bought the Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 for my Fujifilm, but it's also available in E-Mount.
I'd rather sacrifice some range and have a smaller lens.
Else there is also the Tamron 17-70mm f/2.8

The disappointing but absolutely not surprising part is, that this feature doesn't come to the older iPhone Pro (Max) models. It would probably be technically possible to implement the log profile via an update on e.g., iPhone 14 Pro as it already has a 48mp sensor with HDR, but that's not helping the sales cycle from Apple's perspective. I don't think it's impossible from the hardware side to skip some of the (over)processing of the image.

    Yup, I’d love a FF P&S around 40mm f2 please.
The thing is you can get a small body Sony A7RCii and stick a small fastish lens on it and have basically the same thing but with options…and I think that is part of the problem. The market probably is not big enough.

I’m pretty happy with my setup. Bought a MagSafe magnet off of amazon for $12, glued it to the T5, and then found a short usb-c 20Gbps for $7. Super secure and inconspicuous.

Had the XH1 and went to the XT3 trading IBIS for 4K 50p…and that is where it began to go wrong for me with Fuji…
Put in a preorder for a pair of XT4’s at the start of 2020, but then Covid stalled that plan.
Then the S5 came along and made a lot of sense as a sideways move more or less re. continuing with 4K 50p but gaining full-frame stills.
With hindsight, would I have made that switch? No, I would have stayed with Fuji and followed it through to either XH2 or XH2s which is where I would otherwise be now.
Personally and if you could swing it, I’d be trading my XT3 for an XH2S if video is more your thing, or XH2 if the priority is stills. Pure hybrid, there’s a case for each. Or both.

Bitrate is 100mbps fixed which is near as dammit the upper limit of the variable bitrate that my iPhone 12 uses (a typical comparator for what people would use a Pocket for) and I don't find it lacking for the purpose.
More important for me is that the Osmo Pockets have Cinelike D which is a good compromise and very easy to grade.
I had to do a little project at the weekend using the LX10/15 (with my Cinelike D hack activated) and the Pocket and they matched easily both in terms of colour and acceptably enough in image quality.
On the Pocket 2, it is derived from a 4.6K sensor which is giving about 1.2x lossless zoom when shooting in 4K and roughly 2x and 1.6x in 1080p and 2.7K respectively.
In the edit, I punched in to around 2x on a 4K file from my weekend project and was comfortable with the result so I wouldn't be bothered going up to say 1.5x as a safety and then adding the rest in the edit.
A big advantage of the Pocket is adding the control stick which will give you full pan/tilt/zoom controls right from the handle.
That usability trumps a small loss of image quality for the purposes I use it for.

The 24mm in that spec is coming from it being a drone camera though.
The actual lens on a Pocket 2 is 20mm f1.8.
On of the beauties of this camera though are the magnetic clip on wide angle adapters (which gives you 15mm) and of course the anamorphic versions too.
As well as also simultaneously being able to us magnetic ND filters too.
If DJI do bring a new version 3 out with an optical zoom and/or with 10 bit capture then that would be great but I have to say that even as it stands now the Pocket 2 is a very compelling camera for travel and, for me, it is a vastly superior proposition to my iPhone for that role.
Its not only because of the creative possibilities it has with having an integrated gimbal so you are not only stabilised but can do tracking etc or the anamorphic and NDs or the ability to have real hardware controls with the control stick.
Its that you can take it out of your pocket, hold the power button on and be ready to shoot 2 seconds later rather than titting about unlocking the phone, opening an app and making sure you are in the correct mode.
Another bonus is that if do have a need for remote shooting or self shooting with tracking then you can operate it from your phone which you can't do with your phone as you are already using it to film with 😉

Of all the high-end jobs I've worked on using Arri's, not one of them was shot in raw. And I've never shot a single raw clip on any of my ZCams. You'll get a much better end result by spending extra time focusing on production design and lighting than you will by switching in to raw mode - and bigger productions know this.

Prores is good enough for 95% of professional use (or 99% if 4444 is available). The people here who complain about any new camera that does not shoot raw are out of touch with reality.

In Switzerland a new S5II from a store is 1763 CHF while the S5IIX is 2599 CHF... so hard to justify the price difference, considering what you can get for the 200$ firmware upgrade... so I guess with some luck, one might get a used S5II for 1000 less than a new S5IIX at this point.
But I have to agree that I feel like there's a big opportunity missed by not having BRAW to an SSD instead of to an external recorder.

It's not that I think Twitter was perfect before, or that there isn't room to innovate, it's that I think Elon Musk is an idiot that is obsessed with the platform and shitposting.
When you are among the wealthiest people in the world you can afford to hire geniuses to build companies like Tesla and SpaceX. Elon is not an engineer, he's not deep in the bowels of those companies leading the charge in innovation and development. He's just a guy that comes from a rich family that used his money to facilitate it. He was smart enough to understand his limitations when it came to these things, but when it comes to Twitter the same can't be said.
It seems clear that he is deeply hands-on with everything going on with Twitter right now, which has resulted in internal chaos, plummeting ad revenue, and embarrassing public outbursts. Being an erratic asshole that antagonizes a large part of the user base and its advertisers isn't an intelligent thing to do, particularly when you've spent 44 BILLION DOLLARS on a company that wasn't profitable. He can pretend it is advertisers wanting to silence "free speech" (no Elon, you're just an asshole and brands don't want to be associated with a site that seems poised to let a bunch of racists and fascists back on it) and whatever other excuse he wants to make, but ultimately the dude just isn't nearly as smart as he (and millions of others) think he is.
When you are that obscenely wealthy it is pretty easy to accumulate more wealth by leveraging your assets regardless of your business acumen or intelligence. Elon is just the latest example of that. It's time for society to stop putting these people on a pedestal and thinking they're smart.

Also, if you're looking to up your quality of final edits, it basically doesn't matter what type of videos you make, upgrading your camera is probably pretty far down the list of what will actually move the needle in terms of outputs.
I've seen inexperienced folks shoot with an Alexa and it looked like a poor quality student film 🙂

Phil A reacted to kye in Panasonic GH6
I have kept my GH5 despite other offerings being a pretty amazing in many ways, for several reasons:
I was looking for a backup camera / tiny camera and ended up buying a GX85 which further locked me into the MFT ecosystem, and I really don't want to have to re-buy all my lenses The GH6 has that horizontal streaking issue that Panasonic don't appear to be motivated to fix, and I don't feel motivated to risk having to fix in post (although I think with much careful fiddling it could be done) The GH5 can look great and although it's not the best colour science in the world, my ability to colour grade is definitely the weak link in my setup I started studying award winning productions in the same genre that I shoot (and I mean studying seriously, breaking down 45 minute episodes sometimes frame-by-frame, dissecting audio and sound design, etc) and the more I looked at Emmy Award-Winning stuff the more I realised that the images looked OK, but it was everything else around that (editing, sound design, narration, music, etc) that made it great  It's reliable, I enjoy using it, and keeping it is free....  which is good because despite me buying it in 2018, the pandemic has meant that I didn't get to use it on nearly as many trips as I had planned to do before being tempted to upgrade Some months ago I bought a BM Resolve Micro colour grading panel with the goal to teach myself to grade the way that the pros mostly learned (using the basic tools but using a control surface) and kind of justified the purchase to myself by saying I would buy it to learn instead of buying a new camera.  I had planned on just putting in an hour or so grading practice per day, but I got distracted with other things (life!) - however I found that I got noticeably better for every two hours or so I put into grading.  I have a huge backlog of footage from past trips that a skills upgrade will improve but not new camera can influence, so I'm more motivated to upgrade myself rather than the camera.

Well, it's certainly true that the GH6 has not made the same kind of splash that the GH5 did. Personally, I don't find M43 to be too much of a burden when shooting with a 0.64x Speedbooster. It's kind of a sweet spot of boosted light for exposure and manageable DOF. For me full frame has too little when shooting wide open with fast glass and I think that approximately APS-C or Super35 sensor size is pretty good. M43 is too small, but with a 0.64x speedbooster it's actually "bigger" than APS-C at 1.28x crop relative to full frame.
Here are a few clips shot wide open with an Iscorama 36 on an Olympus OM 50 1.8 manual lens. Talk about making life difficult for myself with an Iscorama shooting wide open - swapping diopters between almost every single shot! A lesson in patience! Oh well, it's worth it for the bokeh and the flares I guess 😂

The major issue with cameras these days is the cripple hammer / technical limitations they put in them which aren't in the marketing.  Sure, a camera might be 8K, 240p, 10-bit, but the fact that it's not all of them at the same time is the information that isn't mentioned, and which combinations are available are hard to find out.  Gerald is useful because he seems to systematically find many of those gotchas whereas other people don't go that deeply.
In terms of Sony and his opinions, to put it bluntly, who gives a crap?  If you're spending thousands of dollars then you should be making your own decisions rather than simply listening to other peoples conclusions.  Gerald is good because his videos are full of facts about the tech details...  just ignore his opinions and you're fine.
Most other camera reviews are ONLY opinions.  That's where we should be getting annoyed..

Phil A got a reaction from kye in Bitrates. Where do you draw the line?
I'm shooting H.265 200 Mbit on the X-T4 and used to shoot 150 Mbit H.265 on the GH5.
I fully accept the weaknesses of those codecs, but I create only content for social media or personal usage so there is absolutely no point in recording in higher bit rates or codecs. Most people are obsessed with technical image quality when in the end, anyway no one cares about their results (cat video on YT with 7 views).
The only moment where I might use a higher bit rate option is if I record something with water, because that's always a disaster in LongGOP.
I always used to transcode to ProRes and wanted a camera that can record ProRes because of my editing system, but since I switched to Apple M1 based hardware, everything is golden with H.265.

I wouldn't be surprised if no-name content gets second class treatment to save on storage.
I heard often (i.e. don't know by evidence) that big YouTube channels get better compression than small ones.
From a business perspective it makes sense. No need for super high quality cat videos that 3 people will see, better give some more performance/storage/bandwidth/whatever to MKBHD or MrBeast where millions will watch it. I'm not saying their content is better, I'm just saying from a business perspective you focus on the "product" that is in demand.
Perspective: I used to be Product Manager for a not-in-demand product in an industrial area 🥲
