I do not agree! Metabones Nikon G adapters are priced at $ 479, they offer a focal reduction of 71X and can only be used with Nikon lenses.
My adapter is the only existing for Samsung NX, provides a superior reduction and can be fitted with a Canon EF mount, Nikon F / G, M39, M42, Exakta, Pentax K, C / Y, Olympus OM, Leica R , Arri PL-STD-B, T -T2 mount- Novoflex A mount.
It is built in Italy with quality materials and 3D printing technologies.
Do you still think that it is expensive?

Panasonic cameras are very cheap, and offer the world!
In a sense, Sony cameras have all the specs too (though, do not exactly deliver).
I am not sure that your statement stands, NX1 had the same price as all the competitors back then (even though vast better performance, of course), but in 2017, I do not see what a NX2 would have against the GH5, it would be close to 2000 for sure, and I don't think it could possible had 10 bit, even though it would have IBIS and the rest.
NX1 became cheap, because end of 2015 it was obvious that Samsung is leaving the market, not because it was super cheap in 2014 and 2015.
It is a pity though, let's keep the spirit alive, and someone pull a magic lantern raw out of this camera!

Obviously that "everyday life vlogging" is really big and to be honest, like most of you, I can't really understand the appeal. My girlfriend watches Jamie&Nikki a lot and I just can't get over how that's basically just watching two random people do their every day blah. They have a million followers who care  about what boring, regular things they do.
I mean, I can kinda get why people watch Jon Olson, he's at least a ka-razy semi-celebrity, blowing money and living the life, so you watch him do stuff most of us will never do (still working on saving up for that lambo). You'd also think there's only so many ways you could go about contouring but make-up how-to channels are such a huge thing.
At the same time you can see that usually production value is of no real interest to a lot of people. Same with Instagram, there's a lot of people with hundreds of thousands of followers with just the same composition of iPhone pictures over and over and over again. It's more about people's voyeuristic needs and identifying with the content creator than with the actual content.

When it comes to technology, I kinda get why less might be more. I wanted to see how the GH5 fares by looking at what gets uploaded to Vimeo and YouTube and by god, if I have to see another video that is 100% slow motion flowers / dogs / people shopping I will scream! It's approaching "cooking video with ukulele background sound" territory. It seems that a lot of people who care about "filmic, cinematic videos" exclusively produce camera test videos. Gear is the purpose in itself, there will never be any output. That's actually also fine as a hobby but there's the tendency that these people only criticize and never create/contribute.
I'm actually really re-evaluating what I want in a camera. Maybe I can do with "worse" image if it actually means I'll shoot more due to better usability?

I stumbled on them while doing research on the beloved Leica R lenses on the REDUSER forums. A reviewer brought them up and said that they are just as good or better than the Leica R's. I did more research and discovered that some of the original Zeiss ZE and ZF lenses were using the exact same glass as some of the old Contax Zeiss glass. I found a set of Contax lenses on eBay for $300 each lens and I jumped on the opportunity and love them!
I have the 28mm 2.8, 35mm 2.8, 50mm 1.4, 85mm f2.8 and I really love them on the full frame sensor on my 1dc. I was DP for a shoot at my work and we exclusively used them for a project that was shot all C500

They problem as I see it as that the GH5, on a spec for spec basis, competes with the FS5/FS7. In order to compete in pure capabilities, Sony would have to canibalize their own high end cameras. Don't get me wrong, that sounds great, but I just don't think it's probable. Plus, on a pure reliability/ergonomics/ease of use level, none of Sony's mirrorless line holds a candle to Panasonic's.
Low light performance has reached the point of diminishing returns, frame rates are impressive all around, and everyone's sorted out internal 4K. The technology has begun to plateau, begging the question: how will everyone differentiate themselves? Panasonic rocks in ergonomics, bit depth, and stabilization. Canon has pretty color, lens selection, and DPAF. Sony still has the edge in extremely low light, but other than that...What do they offer over everyone else?

I was considering waiting for it, but went for a URSA mini 4.6k ( I know it s not the same price range).
    I had a pocket, a a7s and a GH4/vlog.
For docu and corporate work I think the GH4 was a nice camera but the motion cadence/DR was bad ( the motion cadence is also quite bad on the varicam apparently )
SO... yeah the gh5 is a better GH4, is it a cinema camera, no , is it worth 2k ? maybe , but for 2k you can get a second hand ursa mini 4k and I would probably go for that, especially if you do narrative/ music video work.

It's basically adding lots of saturation, then contrast using curves (find a proper black value using the waveform!), shifting the hues (bright green a bit to yellow, yellow a bit to orange, orange slightly to red, red a bit to magenta), desaturating shadows and highlights, desaturating bright oranges (helps for skintones as well), pushing gray or low saturation mid and dark tones (not black though, leave dark skin color the way it is!) to teal a bit, adding a bit of grain.

    That's it basically. :D

I actually trust Kholi as well, but not this time. Comparing V-Log to S-Log on the A7sII? C'mon...
If it is nearly as good as V-Log on the GH4 it'll put the A7sII to shame in terms of color science.

Watch my showreel to see what I mean:
    Almost 99% internal V-Log!

And yes, I've been using the a7sII quite a lot, always struggeling with the color, even using different profiles and combinations (such as Cine4, Slog2/3 SGamut 3.cine/3/2 etc). On the GH4 I just hit the portrait profile with:
    Contrast 0
    Sharpening -5
    NR -5
    Saturation -2
    Hue 1

And it looks almost identical to the color corrected RAW output of the FS5...

As a GH2 and GH4 owner, I am not. I don't mean that as a slight, or that it's a bad camera. Far from it. It's an incredible value and the image is pretty good.
The IBIS, 4K60p and 10 bit are great. I just haven't seen much that really wows me in terms of mojo or color. It doesn't seem all that much better than the GH4, image wise.
I shoot with the blackmagic pocket and GH4. Pretty much 100% of the time, I prefer the image on the pocket. Without that image quality or better, it's hard to get all that excited about the GH5. Even if it's jam packed with features.

I was in Tokyo earlier in the year and I shot this over an afternoon. Most of it was shot on a D500 with the Sigma 17-50 f2.8, the bike shots were on a GoPro Hero 3 Black, and I recorded the interview on a Rode Lav hooked up to a Zoom H1. Amazingly the bike audio was all off the GoPro -- I'd recorded some engine sounds on the H1 as well but the GoPro sounded great so I saved myself the hassle of synching audio.
Edited and Graded in Premiere Pro with the Impulz Kodak Ultramax LUT (which was great because they had a LUT made for Nikons AND GoPros) and I used their 2.5K Grain track as well.
Overall it turned out pretty well. If I had more time I might've found a better way to grip the GoPro to try and dial out the camera shake, but I wanted it to look rough anyway and I grew to like it. I'm constantly surprised by how well GoPro footage can look if you use it in the right way. Kinda wished I'd had the Hero 5 with the Karma grip, might've been able to do some faux drone shots by putting the whole gimbal on a stick and holding it from the back of the bike as we went along.
Hope you enjoy the film, love to hear your thoughts!

We have talked about your short numerous times and I think I had some of the same theories as Juxx. I know you're not trying to change it or make it different but here's an idea anyway... if you filmed one wide shot for the end of the piece that showed you sitting next to a mirror, the whole short would come together. I know you don't like "twist" endings but in all honesty... you wrote it in a way that just begs for that twist, so why fight your own material? A good friend of mine always makes a really interesting point... he is a writer/director/editor and when he shoots his script, he calls the writer a moron... when he edits his footage he believes the director had his head up his ass.

Whatever the angle, NX still offers great value for the money.
Some of my favorite lenses are: 10mm fisheye (most APS-C systems do not even offer one, amazing tiny and very near focusing lens) - 30mm pancake (incredible sharp, great for video, very very small, very slow focusing though) - 45mm (advertised as) pancake (my favorite NX lens, rendered all my 50-55-58mm legacy lenses useless, and that is the reason I was resisting this lens for a few years! very fast focusing also) and of course the unicorn 16-50S (2f in the first few mm that cover 3 common prime focal lengths, best AF for NX, great Dual Stabilizer with the NX1 - for non action scenes), 16mm on NX is 24.something mm, the usual 17mm in Canon EF-S is 27.something mm, quite a difference.
Amazing value for such a cheap price (so I had to own them to fill holes): 16-50PZ/12-24/50-200
Probably near the top of their respected lists: 60mm macro, 85mm (a truly amazing lens), 50-150S
There are also two small pancakes (16/20mm), and a few other kit zooms (20-50/18-55)
What I am missing? Only an S ultra Wide Zoom, some people something longer than 200mm.
If you bought for cheap (which I know you did!), the loss is minimal, and the enjoyment vast!
Just melt it from the use, it will be very difficult to need something more for a while!

Lots of useful info in this thread and I thank you all for taking the time. I've gone for the NX1, it just seems to offer everything I want and a lot more in terms of features and image quality, the only real negative is that it's a dead system.
It doesn't offer the AF lenses I usually use for stills but it seems manual focus is the way to go over time anyway. I have some rokkors laying around to try in the meantime and will also look at FD.

That's the thing though. Guys like Bannon ARE engineering an invasion. The current administration wants a Christian vs Muslim war and they see it as divine destiny to win it.
It's going to be your armed forces, men and women, who die in this, in far greater numbers than those who have been killed by "terrorist" wannabes, which are actually incidents of crime and murder, rather than acts of war and terrorism as the media and government portray it as.
For example what happened in Berlin recently, was extremely tragic but the act of ONE SINGLE petty criminal murderer. Just because they have certain beliefs doesn't make them an army.
No it doesn't make you white supremacists.
It does make you a fearful paranoid bunch, unable to take responsibility for why people hate you.
When these terrorist nutcases speak about defeating Christians, they're not talking about Canada and Sweden.
Trump is making you a target.
I can understand the US culture of gun ownership, it comes from protecting isolated farms and houses from a hostile lawless wild-west society.
Those days are over if only you'd let go Tom!
Fox News constantly spins this propaganda about Europe.
There are not a million refugees on my street in Berlin or piling into bars in Manchester.
It just didn't happen that way.
99% of the people who came over just politely blend in and just want to get on with their lives and bring up their children, then return to their homes once the fighting stops and the country of origin is ready to rebuild.
Some will settle but that again is nothing new to Europe or the UK. The UK in particular has been a melting pot of nationalities for centuries. It gave us our best food, our best music, our best doctors and scientists. If only we could replace our lazy fat British chavs with refugees who actually have a work ethic, the economy would be even better.
Merkel made a mistake by not controlling or keeping track of who came in but that's the price you pay for true freedom. Under Trump you're not actually free, you're not actually safe, sadly it's just an illusion. Trump and Bannon talk-up their Christian values all the time. Merkel did it as a good Christian deed and she did save millions of lives... I don't see Fox News praising her Christian values, or the fact she's an ex-quantum physicist whereas Trump has issues spelling the word 'tap' correctly.
Yes, a few of the refugees who came in abused the situation and took advantage. A few more happened to do that and at the same time harbour mental illness. A few crimes occurred, as they do every day with people born here and raised here. Every single crime has been blown up in the media and put under the spotlight, because it's a foreign perpetrator. The media is heavily biased and has an agenda to get more clicks and sell more newspapers. That's how propaganda works. Look it up.
It's fine to reject the globalist agenda
    You'll be left behind though
Because it's a global world now, with the internet, out sourcing, mass production, consumerism and hugely beneficial trade links...
You may not like it but you can't buck the trend of world history just by stomping your feet like a child and voting for Trump.
It's not going to be rolled back long term over the next 200 years and next will come A.I., robots, and a whole other world order you can't do anything about...
Leave a good legacy for yourself and your family and work hard. Alternatively, be remembered as that sad guy who got caught up in the short-lived wave of hysteria and supported a joke-president who is an even smaller footnote in the history books.
    Oh the irony.
You have a 20th century European-style tyrant as your president and I assume you voted for him.
So if anyone hasn't learnt from that it's you.
LOL. This is Info-wars level batshit crazy.
The global economy has pulled millions of people our of poverty and put food on their tables. Sony have camera factories in Thailand.
Those factory jobs are NOT coming back to the rustbelt in the US.
Manchester in the UK did not get the factory jobs back either.
We adapted and went with a services based economy which is why there's now the BBC's second HQ there and a ton of film production studios.
Who wants the miserable factory jobs back any way?
We do have one thing in common - we both dislike political correctness.

Another funny thing: those "leftist useful idiots" in Germany (run by a right/conservative CDU gov) who "opened the floodgates" to people whose countries were bombed and destroyed by the USA/NATO: they happen to have scored extremely high marks as a country most admired by the world.
Which brings us to the question your idiot USA president once asked: "why do they hate us so much?"  Perhaps you should examine this question too and realize maybe one factor is because the USA has killed over 20 Million people in 37 nations since WWII? That makes you "feel safe"?????
