Sdi, timecode, internal nds, a Super35 sensor with full VLog and Varicam color, an Oplf filter plus the announced specs, all that in a robust body with the outstanding battery life of the Lumix GH series! Percect dream (camera:).
The Gh4 could be coupled with a sdi and xlr extension. Why not offer something like that for the Gh6, just (much) smaller with a much more elegant power solution.

buggz got a reaction from Juank in Cheap lenses on the Fuji GFX 100 / 50R
Just for information, not showing off, hopefully someone will find it useful?
My brief run through of my old lenses on my GXF 50R, like discovering old lost treasure.
I have tried my manual Mamiya 645 lenses on my GFX 50R via Mirex Tilt/Shift EF/M645 adapter, then another adapter for EF/GFX.
Yes, a round about way, but it seems to works okay. I may get a simpler adapter in the future?
- 120/4 macro works great.
- 35/3.5 N works great. The 35/3.5 N focuses pretty dang close.
- 80/1.9 N works great.
- 55/2.8 N works great.
- 145/4 Soft Focus works great.
Quick test of Contax Yashica Ziess lens with a Canon EOS-EF adapter.via the TechArt Pro EF-GFX adapter,
- 35/1.4 CYZ - very slight soft vignette,
this lens is also amazing close focus on the 50R.
I see this one is going to be another rediscovered treasure gem.
Sure to be used often.
- 35-70/3.4 Macro CYZ - Starts vignetting anything lower than 50mm.
Progresses to total tunnel vision super hard at 35mm.
However in macro mode, NO vignette, amazing, also amazing close focus in macro mode.
- 100/2 CYZ - non macro model - imperceptible vignette, if any?
M mount lenses:
- Voigtlander Heliar 75mm f/1.8
works good, just some slight vignetting and dark corners that should be easily corrected.
- Voigtlander Nokton Classic 40mm f/1.4 SC
hard vignette in the corners, not much soft vignette, still usable.
- Canon RF 50mm/0.95 converted to M mount, forgot the vignette.
Via Fotodiox Minolta (SR/MC/MD) mount adapter.
A quick test shows all my lenses are vignetting almost exactly the same.
That's kinda strange, but cool, I'll take it!
Not too bad, but definitely visible.
- MC W Rokkor-X 28/2
- Zoom 35-70/3.5
- MD Rokkor-X 45/2
- MC Rokkor-PF 58/1.4
- MC Rokkor-PG 58/1.2
- MC Rokkor-PF 85/1.7
- MC Tele Rokkor-PF 100/2
- Minolta MC W Rokkor-HH 35/1.8 in Minolta SR mount, it vignettes the same as rest, slight, but noticeable.I
I have two more adapted to Canon EOS-EF mount.
28/2
85/1.7
The Minolta EOS-EF mounted lenses seem to vignette slightly less than the native Minolta SR mount via Forodiox GFX adapter.
Oh, and the Minolta 28/2 is super close focusing, I had forgotten about this.
All of these works great.
Canon FD/FL mounts, Fotodiox FD/GFX adapter...
- FL 55/1.2 - heavier vignette than the Minoltas, which were slight but noticeable,
still should be easily corrected.
- FD 85/2.8 SF - slight vignette, similar to the Minoltas, maybe a touch more?
- FD 500/4.5L - similar to the vignette of the FL 55 above.
- Konica Hexanon 57/1.2
Using the GFX - LM adapter, then an LM - AR adapter.
It seems to vignette more than the Minoltas, similar to the Canon FD 55/1.2
Canon EOS/EF AF lenses via Techart adapter.
- 50mm/1.0 AF works, I have forgotten what the vignette was ..
- 200mm/1.8 AF works, very slight vignette, I have forgotten?
- Contax N 85/1.4 converted to EOS/EF mount, via Techart adapter, AF did *NOT* work, but manual focus works, can't remember vignette.
- Faithfully submitted, Douglas C. Niedermeyer...

Three days to go.
The RAW shooting Sigma fp with the Baveyes 645 medium format speed booster is a little powerhouse.
Particularly when you can now add ToF autofocus to that manual Mamiya 35mm lens.

For anyone looking to have this functionality (and a bit more) without having to buy a specific new gimbal (or any gimbal for that matter), our AFX module launches a week on Monday.
I'm absolutely not going to give the game away before then and say that it also supports manual lenses.
Absolutely not going to spoil that surprise.

Forum news. You can now switch between dark and light theme.
I prefer the dark one, especially on a bright modern high contrast IPS or OLED screen.
Much easier on the eye and photos / videos really pop now on the darker backdrop.
Enjoy!

buggz reacted to newfoundmass in Canon EOS R5 / R6 overheating timers, workarounds, and Magic Lantern
"Solved" or not, this is utterly ridiculous and no one should reward Canon with their business even if these cameras are your ideal tool.
Please, reward honest and ethical companies with your business. It is the only way things will get better for all of us.

buggz reacted to Andrew Reid in Canon EOS R5 / R6 overheating timers, workarounds, and Magic Lantern
It is a standing on the shoulders of giants effort - as a1ex said on the ML forum.
I don't think it's helpful for any individual to claim the plaudits.
People should be careful about making money from information that should be freely shared.
And people should rightfully feel miffed if their groundwork, effort and graft is not acknowledged or credited in later discoveries...
Because it's all a collaborative chain.
Anyway the most important thing is that it progresses towards a usable solution, as is happening...
Meanwhile Canon continue to blank us and in the case of Gerald Undone after his review which covered overheating in-depth, completely ghost him.
Meanwhile a site like DPReview which has toed the PR line and not contributed anything to the discourse, get rewarded with thousands of USD via marketing agreements and sponsored content like the EOS R6 video today.
Fair?
No. On ethical grounds I will be very reluctant ever to buy another Canon product again.

buggz reacted to herein2020 in The Resolve / Colour Grading resource thread
@kye @Trek of Joy
Attached are screen shots from a typical project for me, lifestyle promo video shoot for a new multi-family community. I picked a scene where all three cameras were used (GH5, GoPro, DJI Drone). GH5 is the side shot, GoPro underwater, obviously drone from the aerial view.
Cameras
Drone - Natural profile Sat/Sharp/Contrast set to -5, WB Daylight
GH5 - Cinelike D profile modified as per the Leeming LUT guide, WB Daylight
GoPro - Flat Profile, WB Daylight
Color Grade
GH5 - Leeming LUT + slight WB shift to magenta to match the drone
Drone - Expanded WFM to add contrast, sharpening 47, color boost +20, WB shift to warm
GoPro - Expanded WFM to add contrast, color boost +20, WB shift to warm
Time Spent on Color Grading all 3 cameras - Less than 2min. I forgot to extend the adjustment clip over the sample clips to show Noam Krolls LUT, but I went with a very subtle LUT that looks like it just adds a little more contrast.
Project Details - the rest of the project was shot during sunrise but as the lighting got cooler during the day I wanted to keep the warm sunrise feel (plus it was a really ugly grey day) so I moved everything towards the warmer side. I have yet to find a generic LUT that I like for the drones or the GoPro so I just do the exact same WFM grading process each time then throw a Noam LUT over everything.
The Leeming LUT I use on the GH5 if it works; I've had it do some weird things due to the GH5's terrible highlight rolloff so when there are hot spots in a scene I grade the clip by hand or I will get weird green skews and orange skin tones using the Leeming LUT.
So yea, that's my whole process, very simple, very quick, probably far from perfect, but for my target customer base they are happy with the results. To your point though @kye when I shoot with the C200 and can properly light the scene and shoot in CLOG3 the results are just incredible. CLOG3 and the S35 sensor of the C200 is so easy to work with compared to my usual run and gun scenario with no control over anything except the camera settings. Exposing the GH5 properly for the Leeming LUT is so difficult, I never really know if it is right until I am grading it later. I'm always trying to retain the highlights somehow without underexposing the talent or the rest of the scene.

buggz reacted to newfoundmass in EOSHD testing finds Canon EOS R5 overheating to be fake
Honestly, whether it's incompetence or intentional, the R5 should be reason enough for people to cease supporting this company until they get their shit together.
There are companies that value their customers. Reward them instead.

buggz reacted to Andrew Reid in Canon EOS R5 overheated in my fridge! After just 60 JPEGs! (4 °C ambient)
Canon really threw the kitchen sink at the EOS R5 specs sheet. What about the kitchen fridge?
Canon have stated overheating time limits for HQ video recording in a warm 23 °C room.
How does the camera perform in much colder conditions?
Does the EOS R5 still overheat in the Wifi menu in a fridge?
Or do the cold temperature help cool the camera body, which Canon claims act as mitigation for hot components inside?

buggz reacted to Video Hummus in Panasonic GH6
A7SIII is the closet FF camera that has come to pulling me out of MFT land as a primary camera. The 12MP sensor kinda kills it for me. I wish it was closer to 20MP for photography. 15MP might have been doable...
MFT still has steam in it for at least one more round of GH and GX cameras. I honestly think they are waiting for a more compelling MFT sensor from Sony. That, or they are experimenting with doing something funky with S35 or preparing a FF S L-mount camera that will replace the MFT GH cameras.
So I wait for news on GH6 camera while still happily enjoying my 5S.
BTW, since this thread hasn’t been derailed enough already. Here is a shot from my first outing out with the 7Artisans 60mm macro. I sipped coffee with my hand on the shutter for about 45 mins off and on until one lucky bee came along.

buggz got a reaction from kye in Panasonic GH5 - all is revealed!
Sadly, I haven't actually used the ol' GH5 in a long time now.
I need to get it out and shoot, perhaps even try to capture the comet?
And no, I don't have an external recorder, always wanted one...
Also sadly, I haven't actually performed any video work in quite a while now.
Captures, nor editing.
I used to use the GH5 to capture my neice's school events.
This year was graduation for us, and due to the pandemic,
not many events have taken place, and rightable so.
I will break out this gear today...
-
buggz got a reaction from kye in Panasonic GH5 - all is revealed!
Cool, I will have to try this, as I always shoot in anamorphic opengate mode on my GH5.
-
buggz reacted to kye in Panasonic GH5 - all is revealed!
I've been doing some thinking and realised that I care about getting the highest quality image out of the GH5, without caring much about resolution.
I have been thinking about the 'best' modes as a choice between:
5K 4:3 420 10-bit Long-GOP 200Mbps h265 UHD 422 10-bit All-I 400Mbps h264 1080 422 10-bit All-I 200Mbps h264 The h265 codec is twice as efficient as h264, so the 5K 200Mbps h265 should be broadly similar to the UHD 400Mbps h264 in terms of compressed-bits-per-square-cm.
So I got to thinking those modes might be better, then I remembered that there were other h265 anamorphic modes, and stumbled upon this mode:
3.3K 4:3 422 10-bit All-I 400Mbps h265
It looks perfect! It's 422. It's All-I. It's 400Mbps, and it's h265. That makes it the equivalent of 800Mbps h264. This is double the bit-rates of the 400Mbps h264 mode and the 200Mbps h265 modes. That's also very similar to the UHD Prores HQ bitrate, which is 707Mbps.
Does anyone use this mode? I can't be the first person to see this?
(actually, a google search revealed someone mentioning this mode in EOSHD, and it was ..... me!)
It might be time to do that comparison video.
