The eagle eyed amongst you may have noticed I've been taking over a month off from EOSHD. Here are my views on what happened whilst I was away.
I am selling up...
After over 5 years of EOSHD I must admit to needing a break from gear. I'm going to completely wipe the slate clean later this month. I will clean out my studio and move. I am selling almost everything I have, but rather than putting it on eBay I will be offering it to EOSHD readers first. Almost everything is going including my Sony A7R II and Canon 1D C. Email me now if you're interested.
EOSHD will continue, but more like in the earlier days. A focus on an artistic approach to cheap gear and lenses. What is the point of me buying a $8k camera and as a result never being interested in the next GH5 or cheap $600 killer camera that kicks way above its station?
So although I won't be buying a Raven or Sony FS5 then, I will continue to offer my views on the higher end kit at EOSHD...

For my upcoming zero dollar horror short. I learned that making trailers is really hard! What do I add, what do I not add etc.
Let me know what you guys think. 
Also, color is not final, it's not even started! And if someone has some good tips on how to save the footage while she's jogging from being so extremely shaky (as you can see warp stabilizer is really fucking up the image) please let me know!

Hi,
The complete licensing is managed by Google through their API. The license is connected to your Google Account and not to your device. This rule is defined by Google. You can use the purchased app on multiple devices, until you are using the same Google Account on them.
Please make sure that you have selected the right account (the account where you have purchased the app) in the Play Store while you are downloading and installing the app. This case the multiple accounts should not be a problem. I have tested it and works for me on a Galaxy S6.
Please let me know if it can fix your problem.
Regarding the slow motion: this is a bit tricky, because these modes usually are not implemented to be reached by camera2 API. This mode is different device-by-device and there is no common way to reach it. The different manufacturers put this option in their own camera app only.

theres nothing "retro" inherent to the look of 5d3 raw video
quite the contrary: it is a unique look which is decidedly contemporary

for me color trumps everything, and the DEEP rich color from 5d3 raw is unparalleled; ive never seen video from ANY camera that matches it in that regard – naturalistic yet amazingly beautiful

This is what a guy told me over at another forum;
"There are two things to install with NVIDIA cards.  

One is the Web Driver. That will install the NVIDIA driver manager and will provide the BETA driver for MacBook Pro and iMac, as well as GPU support for NVIDIA cards on MacPro. That link is: http://www.nvidia.com/download/driverResults.aspx/92192/en-us

The other is CUDA driver. There's a lot of details on this if you care to read/search, but basically it allows GPU to do "work" that the CPU could do. The CUDA driver just needs to be updated for OS X 10.11. Most people do not do this regularly. That driver link is: http://www.nvidia.com/object/mac-driver-archive.html

FYI - Adobe supports GPU acceleration and that is usually through CUDA or OpenGL. There is a bug with OpenGL and Adobe right now, so changing to CUDA fixes most of this for video apps. The "Metal" support is another issue entirely..." Hope it helps!

i wanna learn more too! ive only run through these settings once to do a quick comparison with my note 5. ive gotten the most usable image information with the flat profile type on dark + light, the flat profile intensity on medium ('high' seemed to give the same image after post, harder to monitor on screen), and the noise reduction set to normal

hmm interesting, on my note 5 i havent gotten noticeably better results with the flat profile intensity set to high vs medium, 'high' seems like the same image with the contrast pushed down even more, have you liked the results of 'high' better? ill have to check out Cameringo~!
has anyone else had a chance to use the cinema 4k app more? any thoughts/tips/tricks?

I think it's quite possible to comment on the "look" of a lens after using them both for a bit. It doesn't necessarily require a controlled side-by-side test in scientific conditions. That helps, but it's not strictly necessary. I'd rather have Zeiss or Leica glass on a shoot than any Canon L Lens. They render more 3-dimensionally, have nicer color, and a generally more cinematic look. But that's just my taste, and YMMV. 

I also disagree that the difference in look between different lenses is too subtle to see. Take this test by Shane Hurlbut. I see huge, dramatic differences between these lenses with no trouble whatsoever. https://www.hurlbutvisuals.com/blog/2015/04/film-school-online-micro-43-lenses-3/

You might be surprised from approaching an established post company or a professional colorist directly. Sometimes at post houses people get trained up on Baselight or Resolve by taking on lower budget/ indy projects to get more real-world project experience. No harm in asking nicely, you may get lucky.
I've seen it work before, some post companies are grateful if they can use it as a test project in their down time for a trainee or if it is an uncommon file format/camera for them to usually expect, sometimes it is good for them to test. I worked on a project a few years back where Technicolor did the Di for free, simply because they wanted to test how far lowlight 5Dmk2 footage could be manipulated (or not).
Pretty hilarious that a virtually zero budget short film could put 'color by Technicolor' on it's credits. 
A quality grade is almost as important as getting a good sound mix IMHO. There are some great looking films online that people can do in their bedroom now with a free version of Resolve, but very few will be using correctly calibrated monitors or have properly learnt the craft.
If they had, they'd be working in the 'biz' already.

if cuda is installed there should be an option for it in system preferences and u can install an update from there, dunno what the latest update is, im usin opencl with yosemite lol

Talent trumps gear. If you're under the delusion that it doesn't, consider this yet another exhibit that should dissuade you from that notion. 

I'm sadly thinking about selling my Canon 1DC with two Canon batteries and 1 after-market battery and 2 memory cards for offers over £4300 in the UK, maybe to Europe. I f*cking love it but it was a big expenditure for me and some of the projects I was planning to use it on aren't going to happen now due to changing circumstances. As it's a crime to sit on this camera without using it I thought I'd see if anyone else can take it who'd use it the way it deserves.
If anyone's interested get in touch. I can take pictures and answer any questions. I only had time to snap off a quick photo of the shutter actuations page this morning before work - only decided to put it up here today.
Serious enquiries only please, and I can't really drop the price without going into a loss from what I paid for it recently.
<28,000 actuations on the camera. It was purchased second hand and shows signs of wear but the thing is built like an absolute tank so it's in good condition. Colour in 4k C-Log mode absolutely destroys pretty much any other camera I've ever used, including Red Dragon and my Sony A7s. It's absolutely the best 4k and still combo there is, there's something really special about this camera and even though I haven't had it that long I have a real emotional attachment to it.
I don't have the original box so it's just camera, 3 batteries (which are very expensive) with original Canon charger. And 2 fast CF cards - 128gb and 64gb Komputer Bay cards which I've tested and are very reliable with this camera. Add a lens and you're ready to shoot.
If I don't sell it I won't mind keeping it, don't really want to put it on Ebay so trying here to see if there's any interest. Paypal preferred method of payment for all-round safety and peace of mind.

I saw your posts over on PV. I tried my hand at it with the demo but couldn't figure out the best way to identify and adjust things. so I went out instead and shot some more V-Log with a Dog Schidt Optiks FF58 lens I rented this morning.

Last month I finished editing my last job with my T3i (since then i've upgraded to the Nx1), most of my jobs are weddings, even though I like doing some of them, I'm burnt from having quite a few this summer. So I've been doing some tests lately with Luts and finally decided to grade a job with it, I very much liked the end result, got a "cinematic" feel, but theres always room for improvement, so I'd like to know what you guys think of the video in general (editting, grading, filming and so on).

Imagine if this happened when you already had footage on there! You could either reformat or stop shooting...
This sort of thing makes me nervous about using bridge cameras and consumer cameras for paid work...

Had the same problem and it was also solved by going to Project Preferences and switching to CUDA.
