Was just looking into this cam and getting pretty pumped about it as a possible alternative to the BMPCC 4k, but then I saw the video @zerocool22 posted and I have to agree the first few seconds exhibit a strange noise pattern that seems partially static (versus the more random noise that you typically see).  Strange that not everybody sees it though.  I'm watching on my 2015 15" Macbook Pro in Safari.
Took a screenshot of what I'm seeing from first few seconds of the video.  I don't believe it's compression artifacts from Vimeo.
I haven't seen any other examples or mentions of any FPN issues though so hoping it's just an isolated thing.

Actually, it might be 120 FPS footage.  I found a few accounts of some noise/lines in 120 FSP such as this one:
    https://eks.tv/z-cam-e2-first-impressions/
Apparently overexposing can remedy it.  If that's the case that's fine although I agree with others about some other weird artifacts in the video aside from the noise.  Hopefully that is due to post processing or something else.

I said imo. There are no face close ups in theses shots, so I cannot compare. But the logs and leaves are already too detailed for my taste. It makes it look far more video'y then cinematic. But then again in my opinion :)))

I’ve said it a few times already: BlackMagic should just do a $3K fullframe version of the Pocket4K and call it a day. Maybe add dual pixel AF. Electronic ND would be nice, but I’ve heard bad things about color shift on Sony’s internal one. (Apparently Panavision has an awesome one as a matte box filter.) I love that the Pocket is rigable/configurable. I actually prefer it over the Ursas which to me seem to have an awkward form factor.

I agree as well, same thing for IBIS. It looks weird, sure it helps a lot when doing some event work where you dont have time to shoot everything perfectly. But I often tell myself: the arri alexa, or any film camera has ibis or autofocus, and my goal is to shoot with those camera's. If im spoiled with ibis and autofocus, im gonna have a really bad time shooting with a camera that does not have it. So I tell myself " practice and step up your game"

I'm with @zerocool22 I see image quality issues in *many* places in that video. I downloaded the highest quality version from vimeo. I am not convinced that the issues that I see are due to compression artifacts from vimeo as the patterns that I am seeing are very odd. I would really like to see the original footage before I decide for certain.
I used to run JVC LS-300 cameras and this reminds me of those cameras. The problems that I notice are most prominent in the dark areas. Here are some examples of the issues that I see. I just took snapshots from VLC while the video was playing, then saved those as 100% jpgs. When you let the video play, these issues are more visible.
There is weird pattern noise here in the intro. Watch the video to see more clearly.

Here, notice noise in his jacket and on the wall

Here notice the pattern in the shadows and on the rope:

    Here, watch the guy's face.

There is a lot of weird pixelation in places that I haven't noticed before. Perhaps this footage is just jacked up or something.

I only ever use AF for macro. If I was interested in a camera that turned out to be MF only in video I wouldn't care even a little.
In my mind, "automatic focus" is still no yet invented.

I'm a manual lenses guy.  I despise auto focus for my filming.  Even when it works I find it more of a curse than a blessing.  Weirdly, I like it when subjects move out of focus and someone on the other side of the lens makes an organic correction to maintain it.  And I love a slightly sloppy but creative rack focus.  It's a neat trick of the craft.
I'd rather have imperfections created by humans than perfection created by programming.
Am I simply justifying my anachronistic (read: old fart) attitudes or do I really have a legitimate point?   Am I alone?  Is anyone else attracted to this?

Many of us never use AF in video. So it's not "excuses". More like "not caring".

Well Im hoping on a new sigma line, a true ART line. Not sure why sigma called it the ART line in the first place, you get almost the opposite of ART images out of them. I wish they will bring out a new line, also sharp wide open maybe less sharp then the sigma ART line now, with the same achromatic abboration, which is pretty good on the ART, the coating of the lens Is also great, but with more interesting bokeh. The current ART line is great for corporate, event stuff and all but I feel the current image is quite bland for narrative stuff.

Well with an ipad, I dont think its easy to control the speed of the focus pull, sometimes you want it very slow, sometimes very fast. Sometimes you want to do a ramp, from slow to fast, or from fast to slow, or stop before anything really is in focus(no focus mark) I think you can only do these kind of things with an actual manual controller.

Focus pullers should not be worried. I mean there are tons of creative decisions that you can do with a focus puller, that you couldnt do with DPAF. Allthough If you are doing a following shot or something DPAF seems to work better and a lot cheaper and faster too. So it depends on the situation, or what you are trying to achieve.

Last year my main channel made about 60k USD. No YouTube ads, strictly affiliate pay from having viewers click a link to my site and then from there visit a merchant like Amazon, Walmart, etc.

    Here’s my deepdive answer:

I make product reviews in low competition niches. The videos have ridiculously high production value and tend to outrank any competitors for ~2-3 years on search and autoplay list.
So on average I make about 4K a month, but that doubles or more around November and December.
This year revenue is down as my older videos lose rank and I’ve been slowing down on producing more content. I could wind up making half of what I did last year if I don’t start uploading more videos.
Today I build sets and furnish them using free stuff I get from kijiji or craiglist. I made modular flats with double sided walls (tile one side, wallpaper other side) and can build a room with windows and a door. I have props for a kitchen, bathroom, office and workbench. I can also kinda make a living room.
I currently use an FS5.2 and A6500 with Sigma 18-35 and 50-100 glass. I use a 5-axis Kessler Crane Second Shooter for camera control. Lighting is mostly from Aputure: C120Ds, LS1Ss. I also have a number of Quasar tubes with Kino housings.
I shoot 4K raw at either 30 or 120fps and upload  4K30. Edit using DaVinci. Motion graphics are done on After Effects. Sound and VOs are captured on a Blue Yeti with me covering myself with a heavy blanket while sitting on a super thick carpet. Voiceovers are heavily processed in Audition.
I wrote all the code for the website myself. The only expense is paying for the domain name. Each niche subdomain is hosted on a Google App Engine project which reduces my overall traffic and allows me to squeak by on the fee tier. YouTube is used for the video hosting. The web scrapping is done on a free tier Google Compute Engine project. I use Sikuli to grab prices from websites I don’t have API access to and google search cache as a backup. Google Sheets is used as a GUI for the database, which a python script accesses to generate a flatfile DB and then is uploaded to the appropriate GAE project every 24 hours.
Long story short, I don’t use Wordpress with plugins. I use Google servers with custom code to have a lighting fast website, so people are more likely to use the website and click my affiliate links.

    WAY TOO MUCH INFO RIGHT?

    But more importantly:
Is this a viable route for you to make money on YouTube?

Sure, I guess. At this point 7ish years in, I’m bored of making these videos.
It took probably 4 years to turn a profit with my most recent gear purchases. I’ve spent a lot on equipment to keep my interest.

Lately it’s way too much fucking work. It was nice proving this could work but I work a full time job that pays me way more money.
There’s no way for me to replace myself and earn a revenue as whoever I teach will inevitably just strike it out on their own.
I tried to help my last GF to make her own content: makeup, handbags, etc... big mistake. I don’t recommend mixing work with friends.

So the nikon z6 is now around 12 stops. but with the raw update beeing raw and all, and photo's are 14 stops of DR. We will get 14 stops of DR out of the nikon Z6 right?  Which would make this a 2,5K $ FF raw camera(with the atamos recorder included). Which is even only half the price of the zcam F6. This could be the next best thing and blows everything in the near range out of the water, or am I missing something here. What are the downsides of the Z6, as I never used it or saw it really? (I have a shitton EF glass, are there decent adapters out there?)
I went on to check some quick footage online. If its looks this good crippled, I can only imagine how good the RAW will look like.
