That was super-cool! Yes. the grade was too green and would have been way better with "sunny look" to it, but the shots themselves were very nice; clearly filmed by someone with a decent eye. I saw one for about 250 euros. Detail is close to 4k and seemingly shoots above its weight.

What I'd like to see is a tiny OLED viewfinder that would connect with HDMI and 12volt DC. There are a few nice EVFs that connect to proprietary hot shoes such as the Canon EVF-DC2, FUJIFILM EVF-GFX, Sigma EVF-11, Sony FDA-EVM1K, etc. however they aren't able to be used with other cameras.
I'd like to see something like this, or an adaptor from the hot shoe connectors to HDMI and D-tap. Then if you have a cinema camera you're not left with only huge EVFs (which are really just small monitors with a loupe.)
The one that seems to have this potential is the Sigma EVF-11. In pictures it shows what looks like a USB-C plug, two pins, then what might be a micro-HDMI. It might be possible for there to be an adaptor to use this.

TM700 should be dirt cheap and tons of fun. I would love a compact 3 sensor 2/3" or one sensor 1 inch camera with a good 422 codec. Both won't materialize I assume, the former not by any margin at all. Anyway, 3 1/4" fun and HD beauty with the TM700. A bit green but still a well done video:

I inherited my grandfather's 16mm Bell & Howell last summer. It was a great piece of equipment back in the day. I filmed my daughter on a miniDV camcorder and this week I picked up a Panasonic VX980. It made me suddenly consider ditching everything else as it's so much fun to shoot on with its glorious 400g body, auto features, and 31-626mm equiv. (1800mm digital is usable in 1080p) lens. I might find myself wanting more later, but for now I'm loving it. Amazing, for an "old" Panasonic, it has great AF. There's no real fussing about with Picture Profiles either. You just open the screen and record 1080p 50fps at 50mbps. Shooting inside? Sure it's noisy but cleans up nicely with Topaz. I just throw Film Convert on it and it looks great, with a clear, sharp, rather detailed image with nice color.
    Anyone else shooting these?

I really liked your other videos. In this one i enjoyed the backlight shots and the studio takes with the soft light. For the projector shots i would have lit foreground and background seperately for matters of control and effect. The outside shots would also benefit of from a more dedicated photographic approach. In the video they appear in a way a bit like ENG shots and would benefit from more in your face framing and composition, close, midshot, wides, front, profile, tracking, static, overhead, eye level, from down up, all more distinguishable, evoking strong visual interest, simple and to the point. Like in your other videos.😊 @Chrille

I spent a lot of time testing different configurations to make the FP more ergonomic. I finally found the best cage and drive to keep it, relatively, compact without going down the Dark Labs rabbit hole...

With that said, out of the box, the camera isn't much bigger than the original eos-m, so when you add a cage, the ssd, lens adapter and lens, it morphs into a much larger camera that isn't much smaller than my 5D3 but much more cumbersome.
The screen is pretty nice on the FP and excuse the pun, but with the 5D3, you can see the "magic" of raw on the LCD. With the FP, although it's a better screen, the image has a very flat, dimensional look.
Battery life isn't that great with the FP either, compared to the 5D3... I'd say you can get about 45 minutes, or so.
In some ways, the FP would probably work better if fully rigged out or if the barebones camera was on a gimbal with the SSD attached to the gimbal's handle.
With my current setup, I'd say @BTM_Pix 's approach using M mount lenses would probably be the most compact route. I've been looking at some LTM lenses, so we'll see.
In a perfect world, I'd have the money to buy an R5C or R5ii when it gets released, but that doesn't seem likely, so I'll decide what to do with my FP.
To tell the truth, if someone offered me a good price, I'd consider selling it right now. I got OpenAI for video now.

4K raw looks clean but I prefer the look from the 5D3. The 14bit color helps with the highlights. But I do like the FP.

As I'm sure you know and you just misspoke, you need an external drive for 12bit 4K, not an external recorder. You can shoot internal 12bit 1080p, but ML Raw has an undeniably better IQ, in all respects, than the FP's FHD.
I agree about the IBIS, but I don't really see a point for ML Raw with the R5? You can already shoot internal raw. But all of the Canon IBIS cameras are Digic X, so it will be a long time before they break that code.
It will be interesting to see what they can do with the EOS-R and hopefully the M50. I'd actually be really happy if they were able to enable continuous MLV raw on the 5D4.
But I'm still really impressed with what the 5D3 with ML Raw and a Canon IS lens is capable of handheld. So maybe I'm just easily impressed.

Haven't thought about that. @mercer 🙂 How do you like the output and experience compared to the 5DIII?
Eos M50 would also be a fun little raw cam. Looking forward to that one. It has a Digic8 processor just like the Eos R. @Andrew Reid

Footage looks good, and global shutter is a definite plus of course, but I'd like to see a side-by-side with the OG BMPCC or P4K or Sigma FP etc.
To be honest, the CST in Resolve can convert Linear gamma to whatever you want, so that part was done already.  Adjusting the primaries can be done with a 3x3 RGB matrix, which isn't easy but also wouldn't be too hard if you knew what you were doing.  I commend him for pursuing the project, but it's probably half a days work for a professional colour scientist, at most, maybe even an hour or two if they are setup for it already.
This is an example of a RAW shooting camera with a good conversion to LogC and then a nice LogC LUT put onto it, nothing more.  This has been done by Juan Melara for a range of cameras including the P4K etc, which are almost indistinguishable in side-by-side comparisons.
    https://juanmelara.com.au/products/bmpcc-4k-to-alexa-powergrade-and-luts
This is why I moved to colour grading rather than going from camera to camera, the RAW-shooting cameras are all nearly perfect already and improving them without improving the colour grading is a waste of time really.

Cinemarting achieved first light from an 8K cinema camera in a relatively short time, and within ten months of that milestone they had self-contained, working prototypes.  Some would say that such accelerated steps ("strides") were remarkable ("impressive").

One can almost hear the echoes of snickering coming from a junior high school classroom.  Glad that we can all laugh at jokes that avoid personal digs.   Keep 'em coming!
Actually, I would say that "impressive strides" sounds less like an Austin Powers 1960's Carnaby Street shop and more like the extraordinary accomplishments from someone who creates wireless camera accessories and camera apps (in addition to those who create cinema cameras).

Great news and I hope they can concentrate on EOS R and the mirrorless cameras, as the DSLRs don't appeal to me any more. I have my doubts the 7D Mark II will do 4K RAW... EOS R on the other hand, much more promising.

One of the people from magic lantern figured that the bandwidth on the 7D MKII might also allow for DCI 4K Raw 12bit. That would be pretty sweet. So far they tested it for 1984x1068, 14bits 24p. Looking forward to the upcoming news.
One testclip of the og EOS R recording 1080p 30p raw is online. Just check the slashcam website yourself with autotranslate.:) The Digi 8 processor of the EOS R is also powering the EOS M50.

I would add that - and this is just personal - if you could live with the wonky autofocus, then I would probably go for an original G9 over the E-M1 II. I really like 10-bit video, and 4K 60p is nice. Also, I find the menus on the E-M1 MK II a bit baffling. But that's just me.

I haven't used the G-series of cameras from panasonic, so I can't compare directly. But I do have an E-M1 MK II with a version 3.0 firmware on it (which allows for phase-detect AF in video mode).
It is pretty good. Handling is nice. IBIS is great and rather simple to use.
I basically loan it to my son for his school video projects and he often has another student (who has never used a real camera before) use it to film him, and they are able to generate in-focus, steady footage (despite the fact that they have little to no technical training, nor any artistic training).
For being an 8-bit m43 camera in 2024, it is pretty good. I've used it as a C Camera with my Panasonic full frame S1 and S5 cameras, and while it is hard to match the Oly to the Panasonics, it is pretty easy to match the Panasnics to the Olyumpus (as long as you are shooting in 10-bit V-LOG on the Panasonic bodies).
    Hope this helps.

If you're doing the colour grade yourself then here's my advice:
If it looks good, it is good (and it doesn't really matter how you got there) If you're not sure what a setting does, and it doesn't make the image clearly better, then probably just leave it at whatever the default was That's literally it.
As you gradually get better you'll build up a sense of what tools make what situations look better, and you'll get that from trial and error / reading forums / watching tutorials / etc, but as soon as you start using the word "should" a lot then you need to go back to the first bullet point above - if it looks good then it is good.
The goal of the tech is to learn it enough to start thinking about other more creative aspects.
