Filmmaking is not (nor should) be a show off from (any) gear specs to us salivate over anything in the path of the show. It's just another one, a new camera won't bring you more skills to your craft (E :- )
Filmmaking is time and how skilful you're able to manage it. Other than that, amateurism in any of both senses.

I’m only interested if it’s going to be sponsored by Sony and Squarespace.

There is a deeply suspicious element to it with the suspect fake user campaign. Of course I am not going to stand by and let it get worse and if I lose a few 'genuine' Trump provocateurs in the process it's not a great loss to be frank.
We all have a responsibility now to pull together.

Looking at recent posts objectively, it is always the same users who end a perfectly good discussion on this forum with toxic bullshit.
    I am coming after you.
    It is a cull.
    It isn't about politics.
    It's about values!
To protect a community I love... I have no choice.
To be clear, it is none of my business which way you vote. What matters is behaviour, character, values.
If you've been a good contributor here and kind to people you get to stay.
If not, then you are going to be asked to leave and I will pursue people who return under a different name.
This is purely because there are now far too many posts being trashed and too much arguing driven by people with the wrong values which I despise.
I am going to use this week to draw up a list of people who strongly align themselves with Trump's politics of America First.
And I will be getting rid of the lot of you.
Yes you can say it's a political purge but I prefer to think of it as purely about values and about protecting users who DO contribute positively to the forum.
If these idiots are allowed to get away with bringing Trump idolising bullshit into this community then all our work will be for nothing and Russia with their fake-user farms will have won too, because I am 99% sure at least a few of the idiots are completely made-up shill users whose role is to divide us politically and weaken our online communities.
At a time when we must pull together as a camera-community, as filmmaking industry, even as a country, indeed as a world - to get through tough economic times ahead - dumb arguments which ignore factual data are a waste of time.
What has happened to the world in recent weeks is stressful enough and I personally do not need to hear from certain people in every thread. I will not be providing a platform for Red cap wearing idiots who haven't contributed a single shot or image to this forum.
I get that EOSHD has a big US readership, in fact the US contribution to my site is the largest in the world and I want to keep as many of you as possible and not lose any friends who just happen to disagree with me on politics.
But if you are going to be a shill for Trump's politics or somebody who is a complete shit-stirrer and troll, then I will no longer be turning a blind eye to it and the cull starts now...
Have fun on your way out.

Hi guys. This won't be a gear-related post, but more of just a thread to show you something important to me.
This summer was rough. Fiance left, both parents got cancer, lost my grandparents and that is just the tip of the iceberg. So in July, i left. I packed a duffle and booked a studio apartment outside Reyjkavik for a week. Of course, I took my BMPCC4K. This is not so much a gear "look at how good my shots and coloring are" (kinda) but more I just wanted to share this place with everyone.. even if it is just a little slice.
For the grade, I converted BMDFilm to Linear, CST to LogC, and from there use the Impulz Cineon process, using 5207 on input and 2383 on output and graded in between.

Maybe I am missing something here . . . but . . . I find the touch to focus on my GH5 works extremely well. The other AF options can be a hit and miss. What I was looking for were comments on the XT-3 touchscreen touch to focus.

I am seriously considering moving from a GH5 to the XT-3. Can anyone with experience of both cameras talk about the general responsiveness of the XT-3 touchscreen in comparison to the GH5 which I use a lot for touch focus and menu navigation. I have always found the GH5 touchscreen to work great. Thanks for any help on this.

I went from the GH5 to the X-T3 (with a brief fling with an RX1Rm2 in between) and I think the GH5's touch screen is way more responsive than the Fuji. The Fuji is fine, but there have been times where I try to use the screen to change the focus point while looking through the VF and it doesn't always respond, which isn't something I ever experienced with the GH5.

    Sorry sorry sorry sorry
In my last post I missed a key bit of information.
The 27mm pancake lens continuous auto focus is improved but still not good enough for video.
The other lenses I tried in my quick hour with camera yesterday and this morning (35mm, 18-55, 18-135 and 55-200) are all improved from the X-T2 and X-H1 and have pretty smooth transitions without changing any of the sensitivity settings.
Sorry for the confusion. @Brian Williams is absolutely correct I was only referring to the 27mm pancake lens
On another note I shot some footage in 24p 4k and 120p this morning of some ducks on a lake at sunrise with the 18-55.  The 120p looks very nice. Here is a quick snap from VLC player, hopefully it does it justice.

Sorry I missed this.  I use my Shure VP83F shotgun microphone and occasionally a Rode Filmmaker Wireless lav.  No issues, but since I have never used XLR microphones don't know how much I might be missing out on.  For my purposes though, these microphones work very well with the AX700.

I have a GH5 and Sony FDR AX-700. I really like the Sony, especially since I don't have to worry about autofocus (alas, aging eyes).  I use it for both personal and professional work (disability policy related video interviews and stories). In any event, this short video gives you a sense of the Sony colors - less than a minute on our dahlias -

This was a labour of love project I did for my sister trying to help increase her profile as she climbed the ranks of Muay Thai in Australia. She eventually became Australian champ before retiring to pursue her career in Social Work.
Shot on a GH4 with the Sigma 18-35mm mostly. I'm more of a visual production guy so the audio is the weak link here but I was very satisfied with the result. Pouring your heart into a project is far more fulfilling than any payment, naturally this was a freebie
