Yeah I also wonder why people so often dismiss stuff they don't understand with "living in the past", or "amateur" or even "hipster".
I don't get why someone likes video, enjoy the movie "Lord of the Rings" or playing Soccer.
But it's clear to me that many do, and that's all good. I don't think It's because they don't know better. It's just their thing. The look of film is my thing.

Film doesn't look like real life. And that's the point imo. It looks good, dreamy, exciting, magical, "enter any random word".
And it's the same with everything in films. Even if they are shot digitally it doesn't look like real life. It doesn't sound like real life. People don't talk or act like real life. Physics don't apply. People don't die when they should. Etc etc etc.
All I know is that I sit in forums like this and peep at everything from Sony 4K to H.265.  I mainly shoot Raw but also avchd. I watch modern movies shot with the absolute latest in video technology.
And then the other day when I rewatched the old "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" I was once again just blown away of how good real film looks. Even if it's over 50 years old and kinda Vintage.
The skin tones, highlights, shadows, everything just straight out kills any video footage I've seen.

Suddenly clipped highlights, over sharpened, moire and aliasing, 60i and high compression.
    That is the video look
Video look is not: deep depth of field, small sensor (super 16mm is a film look after all), though a crap DP can certainly make anything look like video if they try

Ahhhh...just got my Rokinon 12mm in the mail and used this feature.  Works flawlessly!  Much happier (though a bit heavier than I'd like to be).

    Thanks for the help all!

This isn't a very good idea if you want good audio for interviews.  You need to get that mic in close even if it's a directional mic.
Griffin on Indy Mogul had a smart solution with an arm coming of his shoulder rig with a shotgun.
Best way is to tripod the camera and have the zoom in your hand, text book reporter setup.

    I'm shooting as we speak

No need for a changing bag on the K3, daylight spools only.

    yes.
If its a "real" conversion they recenter the lens as well.
But most K3 shooters are happy with just the filed gate. The included zoom covers from 27mm and up. On the m42 one can use a Zenitar 16mm or Peleng 8mm with full coverage.
On http://www.k3camera.com/ there are instructions on how to do it.
Also one can buy the gate only on eBay.

IBIS looks very nice to me, didn't see any warping. Loved the low-angle running after the dog shot. It's interesting how sometimes you can get a smoother-looking shot when moving at speed than when trying to do stealthy ninja walking.

Brought my new A7ii over the weekend and played around a bit with the stabilization.
I those of you going for the A7sii or A7rii will be very pleased with it. Combined with a rig or support it would be rock solid.
And this is just 3 Axis since I used old vintage glass.

Mattias Burling got a reaction from Julian in Sony A7S M2 - what features and specs are likely
Like I said,  I don't think it will be that groundbreaking. Pretty much an A7rii with better lowlight.
But if I can dream a little. The a7s conveniently got 4k roughly about the same time as the Shogun.
The Shogun is finally implementing it's long awaited raw features. First the raw to prores and then the DNG recording.
When they first said it and at a show last spring  where a bit floaty answering what cameras would take advantage of it my thought was, "this is not primarily for Blackmagic".
    One can atleast dream.

So far I like it alot. It's a nice bring along when the Bolex stays at home. It requires roundrtripp for resolve but the workflow is quite fast anyway.
The detail is probably a little bit the camera but also youtube, the vintage glass and that I didn't ad any sharpening. It was just a quick over all grade with one of my presets and I'm not used to adding sharpening. Will experiment as I learn s-log.
That's one of the reasons I got it, want to get some hands on with s-log. Will hopefully have some "real" grades soon.

There are focus by wire lenses for Canon, Sony, Samsung, Panasonic, Olympus. It's not specific to the camera, its dependent on the lens.

Pretty much what I just said.
And the a7 really got a bad rep when it came to moire. It was so easy to avoid. I've had much more trouble with moire in the nx1, bmpcc and a6000 than the A7.
And none so far with the a7ii. Only had for three days though.

I would have considered it an upgrade because of s-log. Not having that was enough for me to have no interest in the AX100. That and it's imo weird colors and low DR.

Nice lens. The bokeh on that 2.8 blows my mind. I have two of these, the same version you have and an older model that has a little silver on it with a nubby rubber grip. I think I paid 50 each and both of them have aperture problems. I think there's something wrong with the pin. I also have the 35mm f2.4, which I got for a steal. It was recently cleaned and declicked... Which is nice. I'm thinking about having the 50mm 2.8 declicked too, if I can find someone to do it for a reasonable price. I'd love to get the 20mm 2.8 or f4 but I can't justify the price right now.
