Hot pixel issue has been fixed in Firmware 1.1 - see my comparison pictures between 1.0 and 1.1
Light is very different because the firmware update took like 30mins or so and it went completely dark by that time. So Version 1.0 had more light and F6.3... with firmware 1.1 I set it to F3.5 just because it was much darker. ISO was set to 100 and I pushed the image +5 stops in lightroom.
If anyone wants the RAW files... I can upload them.

On topic: Great article! It really is a "true story". If I'd invest the time I spend on the internet to research new gear on actually taking images... well - I guess that would be more effective than buying the 3rd camera body this year.... ._.

I was skeptical of Olys 5-axis.  Then I used it.
I can do stuff handheld with discipline that looks indistinguishable from a slider or something shot on a tripod.
Its creative freedom. And it's a tool that allows me to get shots really quick when run'n'gun'in'.
It's not perfect, but it is very useful for a certain style.
I do docu style, so it fits.  I don't use it for EVERYTHING, but what I do use it for, it's pretty nice.
I sure as hell don't think that ANY camera I decide to use makes me in any way more accomplished of a shooter. I'm very camera agnostic.  But I do like Oly's 5-axis feature. It's a fun tool to have.  It's almost like cheating. It allows me to get that good framing easier...
Mind you, if you kinda stink as a shooter an EM5II isn't going to magically make you frame better compositions, but if you have some compositional skill, it'll let you grab those shots in a quick and practical way.

You can buy it here: http://pilotfly.de/ - I ordered mine from the german shop - no problems at all.

Don't you see the awful artifact that you get due to the rolling shutter? I don't think I could ever use it. It gives me headaches watching a clip like that.
    Am I the only one?

I am trying to defend Sony in any way, I am just stating the facts. I don't enjoy gear fights. Of course I would prefer a product that is perfect in every way. Its not about having a different standard but different needs, I need a compact camera with IBIS that shoots great quality video. Neither GH4 nor NX1 do that. Until there is another company that makes such a camera, A7rII appears to be the only choice, as crappy and expensive that might be. I am sure that when they find a way to solve the heat issue they will release yet another camera. Would you prefer not to have the A7rII at all until they solve the problem? From user reports the majority of them sound pretty happy and they definitely don't believe the camera is defective. I think that works well for both Sony and their customers.
Keep in mind that people had argued that:
FF in compact was not possible (RX1, A7, A7r).
Then that proper quality video recording with FF in compact was not possible (A7s)
Then that IBIS with FF in compact was not possible (A7II)
Then that 4K with FF in compact was not possible (A7RII)
Then that long 4K recordings with FF in compact was not possible (wait for A7sII).
You have to give it to Sony for making it this far. You don't like Sony's products? I have a solution: Don't buy them!
There are always going to be limitations, with any product, we just have to work around them.
Now if I were a professional videographer, most probably I would not use the A7RII, but I doubt it was targeted to them anyways.

There should be a camera with Samsung's processor know-how, Sony's sensor know-how and Olympus' IBIS know-how

What I'd really love to see: a 4k Recorder (probalby h.265 - might need much processor power though?) in the form factor of the atomos ninja. I don't need an external display as in the shogun... Could be an interesting DIY project but probably financially too expensive...
