Thanks, it's so nice to hear voice of modesty, out of endless verbal judging what is future or what is dead. Actually, it seems that inner peace and modesty are the most important talents to make a gems such these - with NX1. (And it is great to see that Black Pencil still use NX1... last post is just one month old one).

Incredible videos. Now, who needs a better tool when you can make such 'things' with a 4+ years old camera? I'd rather like to learn how to grade like this then to get a gh6 for free.

Probably I'm wrong, but every rumor about higher capable camera actually affects me in a strange way - to ask myself: am I really overgrew my existing tool regarding opportunities to use it, or am I even made usage of its values to full potential, for private creativeness or for real business/competitive market? Sadly, I must admit that at the moment it seems that answer is - no. (If just somewhere exists rumors about more opportunities for me to escape in camera shooting realm...)

+1. My nx1 is for sure a more capable camera than I am as a photo/videographer.

Hey gang, earlier this week I tested out my new Lilliput monitor as part of an old fashioned blackbird steadicam rig. This monitor is AWESOME!!! I can clearly see and pull focus with my manual lenses. The image is great when you are recording. Since this thing is so cheap, I thought I'd share it.

Does focus peaking work with it?

  4. Kids, what do we have to loose about that!? I mean...we could wait for the date he indicated. Then, you could have destroyed him if he didn't post anything.

In this way, he'll be able to say that it's ppl fault, not his.

Again, I'm not believing in anything, but I wouldn't have behaved in the way that many here did.

Hehe...The video I have will proof you LYING - and will CLEARLY proof the provenience of the screenshot. Anyway...Your aggressive and insulting tonality are a brazenness - but hey, it's internet...

@lucabutera - I'm curious what you will say, if viewing the video on Vimeo. It seems you don't care about your reputation when convicting you for false claims. Your good work with the booster doesn't qualify you for false claims in connection with my footage.

This discussion - insults, conspiracy theories, false claims, etc. - is dull. Noone forces me to do this here. After delivering the first charge of h265 vs RAW and uploading the "false claim video" to Vimeo to proof Lucabutera false claims, I will be out here.

@Matthew Hartman will post the upload link to the footage and the Vimeo link for proofing Lucabutera false claims.

    You will get

    • 5-6 seconds of "classic" 4K NX1 H265 (incl. specifications)
    • 5-6 seconds of 4K NX1 DNG footage, both shot in exactly same conditions to compare (incl. specifications)
    • "The vertical image is a picture [...] You can not get a 1800 x 1200 pixel from a 4k or UHD video frame!" - said Lucabutera. This is a blattant false claim. Just split the coming Vimeo-video in screenshot frames and you will find the screenshot scene posted here

I was not after appreciation, fame, or money. Not even after furious insults and false claims. Many of the guys insulting me are prisonners of their own, small parallel universe - full of boredom, cynism, envy and hate. Go out and get a live. And try to stay polite and open minded.

I want to believe (cit.) since I love, love nx1 and use to trust people. So please don't proof I'm a fool and give us wo der by april 1st, so that this day will be known as april's arikhan from now on.

    Respect to you, young Jedi.

  6. I think I'm one of the 'oldest' nx supporters on this forum. I bought nx100 back in late 2011 and since then I bought nx200, 300 and finally nx1 in feb 2015. So it's just been 3 years that I've been using nx1. I love it and along with s lenses it's really powerful.

The news about dng recording is simply great. I followed the hacking scene from day 0 and this would be a tremendous achievement for a system which is proving to be the longest lasting reigning apsc on the market as far as I'm concerned. Kudos to you if you can make this public.

  7. The first scene is incredible, almost looks like hdr.

Can you show a picture of the specific set for that scene, with lights and so on? Thanks.

  8. Definitely so. A camera phone, as of today, is totally ridicolous as a camera replacement, if you want the quality of a real camera.

For example, for stills, I'd pick a Nikon D1x from 2001 over ANY today's phone. And that's 17 years of continuous development. Perhaps, in the future, a tiny sensor will be able to match the DR and noise of a big sensor from today, but there will always be the issues with lens distortions, bokeh, and so on.

So, for me, real cameras will be necessary for at least other 10 years.

  9. Since only the a7r-mk3 really out-specs nx1 and it came out 3 years later and costs 5-10x (considering lenses), having a collection of nx lenses and bodies I'd buy this camera at day 0, like apple fanboys do with iphones ?
