Grimor reacted to elgabogomez in strange problem with anamorphic lens - seems ok except bokeh oval is wrong
Horizontal oval bokeh instead of vertical oval bokeh happens when the taking lens is on close focus and the anamorphic lens is on far focus, or in another words, when both lenses are not focused precisely at the same spot. Maybe the focus marks in your ana lens are off?

Judge for yourself. Top is GH4, below is generic:

You always can ad contrast and saturation in post.
Try to get your image you want out of the cam for color correct as less as posible.

Try to use everything manual, like you do in stills.
Natural all -5 gives you a nice image with great skin tones out of cam.
If you want to color correct further, try Cine D.
Avoid autofocus, and the "focus hunting".
Try to manual white balance each scene with a grey card.
Try to keep 180° rule, specially in fast scenes or if you are doing slow motion in post.
    Keep camera steady. Use tripod.
Camera movements is a plus. If you can use a fluid head, slider or glidecams.
    Good luck and happy shooting.

I bought the Genustech model but I've only used it like a few times. I don't shoot outside much. Also color casts are usually easy to fix in post. Just don't go super cheap and you will be fine!

"Unfortunately a little increase of price could be imposed."
That was never a 99$ monitor, or whatever it was advertised in the beginning, and all the forums are full of people complaining about this company!
To increase a price, that has been increased before without the customers really knowing, isn't the best way to trust a company, I wouldn't.
In anyway, this is going to be one of the well know OEM monitor makers (Neway and Setec are making most of the cheap monitors, and medium priced, in the market anyway) that can be found on a different name from someone else, or bought straight from the factory in Alibaba, or whatever these platforms called.

You used viewfinders/loupes on both cameras? Out on a sunny day?
They're burns, from the loupe optics concentrating the sun onto the screen.
Like a kid burning ants with a magnifying glass.
There's a reason all the nicer loupes/viewfinders have caps on them- to keep this from happening.

Alexis Van Hurkman's book (remember them?) Colour Correction Handbook is a great introduction to the theory of colour grading and a useful reference. Read it and then get some training on the software of your choice.

At that price point it is almost guaranteed that it is a rebranded Chinese monitor. I've read people commenting it is a rebranded Feelworld / Seetec F7. Not sure though.
From the other hand, almost all companies have their production in China, Taiwan or Korea. So what is the actual difference between 'well known' companies and Chinese ones? It's everything, but the product itself.

First time posting here but I've lurked this thread ever since andrew started it, which ultimately made me get a GX80.
Anyway, Ive been using a Sony a7s (mark I) since it came out and this was the first time I used my GX80 for a shoot. I wanted to use as little gear as possible, so I only took the cam, my lenses (14 2.5, 25 1.7, 42.5 1.7) and my glidecam (which I only used for the walking shots in the beginning). All filmed in 1080p50. In hindsight 4k might have been a better choice, but I'm happy with details, noise, etc..
Just one thing - the video has grain added in post.

During filming I wasn't too sure about the footage - especially using the kinda crappy EVF. But editing I realized everything came out pretty much as I hoped. The only times I felt the the camera wasn't up to the task were high-contrast images (see the shot at the counter, handing over the bag). Exposing for the bright parts would have made everything else too dark and otherwise the highlights were blown out. But using my Sony (and even an external recorder) woulnd't have resulted in a more balanced shot.
So, not to make this post too long, I'm stoked on this little cam and even consider getting a GH5.
If anyone's interested, I'll keep posting as I use the cam more and hopefully notice more detailed stuff (like using adapted nikkors, downscaled 4k vs. HD,...). Just don't expect scientific tests.
