Yes, but it also makes it pointless swapping a Nikon mount version for a Canon mount version like the guy I quoted was proposing to do.

If you read again, you might understand why it does.
I think the touchy part of it is that there are some people who don't understand the concept but still want to have an opinion on it.

    Actually this is wrong!
A 42.5mm f/1.2 lens on MFT has the same depth of field as a 42.5mm f/2.4 on FF as well as a narrower field of view as you mentioned.
So if you want the depth of field that a FF f/1.2 lens gives you on MFT, you will need a f0.6 lens

If you blow up the image 3x (because when you want to compare images, you compare them at the same size), the dof will change. Because DOF is a concept that relies on the Circle of Confusion.

Well, but that's with a freaking fan on the body.

That doesn't seem like it would go well during recording as those hard presses can potentially cause jitters. The 7d Mark ii looks plenty robust and weighty to offset that kind of force, but Sony a6300's little body on the other hand is definitely questionable for that sort of use.
I would definitely prefer using the camera's respective smartphone app for any touch focus application even if it's a bit out of the way for quick shooting.

I don't know fcpx very well at all, but I found a makeshift tutorial for hitfilm noise reduction which I assume would work in other nle's, in which you "find the edges" and hold onto them, then add slight blurring to the rest. It seemed effective, I didn't have a chance to test it myself. I doubt it would be easier than a plugin, maybe not even easier for your computer to handle. But other than crushing blacks, over exposing in camera slightly, or a plugin, Idk if there are really other options. If you use film grain, you could probably get away with just putting it right on top of the noise and save a step. If you're using like a gh4 (you said m43 right?) with a lot of settings in camera to deal with, it's possible something in there is messing with the noise, making it worse. There was a post on that.. a while ago on this forum. Doubt I could find it again.

Why wouldn't you buy a plugin? Neat Video certainly is the best, but it's not the cheapest. For just noisy shadows, Photon Pro (~ $30) can be sufficient, and it's faster in FCP X, because it has no alien GUI, it seems to have been made with Motion (one could build a lot of fast plugins for FCP X within Motion, but you'd need knowledge, experience and patience).
You are right about the precision (or lack of) of the colorboards of FCP X. On the other hand, crushing blacks won't help much. Many use Resolve as FCP X's color-app, where you have unlimited precision. But what really helps is to avoid the 'noise floor' during the shoot. Visible noise is low SNR.

I'm shooting with an LX100 and FZ1000 atm, but I'm a bit surprised they're so low on the lists. I feel like I have most of what I need to shoot covered yet I can't help but consider if I should sell and go for a G7.
I hear good things about the G7 for the price. With the LX100 to cover lower light conditions and FZ1000 for range and slo-mo (and both having auto zoom via rocker nub or wireless control), it seems almost redundant to start over again. I do know that I will be able to invest in particular lenses and even go forth with a speedbooster in the future, handle greater lower light conditions and maybe less noise image patterns overall... still. While I can't make much for comparison, any advice from those who have handled all these cameras would be of help.

Thanks Beny! Realized I can just drop the file into LUT Utility through System preferences.
Anyways, the LUT works fantastic! In combination with the Alexa LUT, it makes for some natural and pleasing colors! It's been a pain getting consistent good colors out of the LX100, but this definitely helps a lot!

The FZ1000 seems to lack 1080 at 24p... at least in MP4 format. I'd say AVCHD is usable option, but for me it isn't. That's the only bummer I have about the camera seeing as AVCHD is not a good codec to work with in the first place, and as I have a Macbook, it's practically hell.

Other than that, it's a versatile camera. Cinelike D, Zoom Range, Mic input, flip screen. Both seem to have it's own advantages. Definitely, the two cameras pair up quite nicely for a budget combo. If Sony fails to offer anything similar early next year (but crossing fingers for a a6000 successor at a competitive price range though), I know the next camera I'll bet getting for my setup.
