Yes, with the rise of Peter McKinnon it’s been all about tribes of personality around brands. It’s been going on before that but with Peter I think the intensity increased.
People buy it because their favorite YouTuber uses it regardless if it is the best buy for them. They feel affirmed they are part of some tribe and use the same camera as their “creative hero”. Now they will be just as creative...
    It’s the classic Marlboro man.
You won’t get a fair and balanced review.
You need someone like Gerald undone, who likes getting into the weeds, to be self-funded or funded by his viewers by a fund that is used solely to buy equipment for review. The viewers vote in a poll for which equipment they would like to be torn inside out.
This eliminates the algorithm (what’s trending) from influencing what gets reviewed. The viewer funding and poll removes brand influence seeping into the review (reviewer doesn’t want to trash and not get more work; especially from bigger brands).

    Ultrapro pure scientific test
    GoPro Hero 7 @ 2,7K 24/30/60/120fps
Resolve, 23,976 fps timeline, Reelsmart motion blur, blur corrected to framerate
of course frame drop can occur, no retime/frame blend correction
To my eyes the 120 is very nice, but the difference in this scene is less then what i expected.

    It works, just tested
24p timeline, 120fps footage, corrected amount of blur, and it's a beauty

It's almost the same comparison as Neat Video vs Resolve's own noise reduction.
It gets the job done waay faster than a 3rd party plugin, but the results are not the best. Worth the trade off? Depends on your needs. I ditched Neat years ago, but i prefer rsmb over the built in solution

Please do a Sigma FP video review.
I would love to see 4-5 minutes shorts, each show different aspects of the camera. 5 min about DR in different bith depth modes, 5 min low light against A7 III / S1 / etc, 5 min about color comparison.
My favourite videos from you are the comparison shots between cameras.
Or one big 20min+ long review, but it's a really big project

    So like a C500 Mk 2?
    Or an R5?
Come on guys, you just writing spec that are mostly exist today. (except Kye :P)
5 years from now these spec are really appealing to you? i mean you would spend money 5 years from now on camera with 2020 spec?
On different aspect: why would not everyone of you rush to buy the 5 years old dream camera the A7s mk I or GH4? for 2015 both had insane spec! And it cost only 800-900 eur (500 or less for GH4) nowdays...
So the R5 for example in 2025 will probably be obsolete.

We are talking about 2025 spec not 2020.
Internal ProRes in 2025? You want to edit huge files on a 2015 laptop in 2025? H.266 is the future.

We can see fake dof with phones, iPhone HDR blending is sick. Both needs a lot of improvement, but your cinema camera will be your smartphone by 2025?

The Tamron 28-75 F2.8 is faster than the Sony 24-70 F2.8 GM
And also sharper in the middle at F2.8 vs F4 on the GM...
And half the price of the  24-105 F4.. which is an exceptional lens. I think it's the best 24-105 in the market right now.
I have the 28-75 and i love it.

He's not doing any color correction. He said that years ago at the weddingfilmscool channel.
In the Panasonic S1H "review" he is referring to his go to settings which is Standard factory default with any camera, A7 III included.
So yeah... bad sony color science and stuff...

If you are experienced enough and have pro colorgrading skill in resolve, you may reach the limitations of the 10 bit LOG footage compared to RAW.
I am talking about Premiere and FCPX users who are using LUT's to grade and call it a day.
Or Lumetri Color adjustements and calling yourself a colorist. You can barely reach the limitations of 8 bit log with these tools...

As you can see in my post above: it does not matter if it's above noise level and below clipping.
If you dont want to do much work in post, use the wolfcrow method. Which is basically expose the skin to 70 IRE.

We were talking about it several times.
Slog2-sgamut3.cine is good most of the time, even with deep blue sky.
Slog2-sgamut is much nore sensitive to banding issues.
Both will be problematic in premiere, but sgamut3.cine is fine in resolve.
Im talking about correctly exposed 4K footage in proper WB.
Underexposed 1080p sh*t with wrong WB will band like hell, the dark footage is noisy, which is smearing due to noise reduction artifacts, which will cause banding. Just keep everything important higher than 40IRE.
    Know your camera.

106 zebras is like shooting ETTR all the time, and works flawlessly most of the time, stay with that.
If you are working in ACES, you can shift the exposure like in Lightroom, just dial down the offset wheel, to get proper brightness. ACES will handle the shadow/highlight rolloff.
Secret tip: try those highlight/shadow sliders under lift/gamma/gain. Its siiiickk....

Colorizer.net is my stuff, thanks @Deadcode for mentioning it. I also have Fuji film simulation LUTs specially designed for S-Log2/S-Gamut3.cine, if you're interested. (I used an A6300 for the conversions.)
