Taranis got a reaction from graphicnatured in Ursa Mini 4.6K new footage and info...
A few days earlier someone from bmcuser.com asked B&H on the phone, they told him 4-6 months. I'm not sure how accurate that is, but I don't think it's coming soon.

    1. Blegh. Apple people. 4K on smartphones are a thing for a while now. 'But wooohhh, it's Apple doing it now, look at this, it's amazeballs'. I mean... really?
    2. Can't agree with the topic title. It's still a tiny sensor... it's still a very deep depth of field, it's still oversharpened... I thought that was a thing we're trying to avoid by shooting with cameras like the D750, to be more filmlike. The iPhone's footage is way too screamy and harsh for my taste. It lacks nuance. Besides. DYNAMIC RANGE. Man.
    3. Of course 4K -> 1080p is going to look sharper/crisper than regular 1080p from a Canon/Nikon fullframe DSLR. To me though, the amount of detail in a deep depth of field shot makes things flat, I need some layering

Yeah, while every update is most welcomed, not many are here from that list. Let's hope it's just a matter of time.

The high cost of CFast cards make some people think about workarounds, here's one interesting project: C-Box

If you need to take pictures and/or love to work handheld, a native AF lens with OS is a must.

I can't talk from personal experience, but I've heard the samsung lenses manual focus is by wire.  Setting up repeatable focus pulls and follow focus might be tricky with them.   If you're shooting primarily video, you might go with the art lenses.  Plus the art line can get the mounts switched so if sigma supports NX mounts in the future they could be setup for that.  If weather sealing is a priority then the two samsung pro lenses are the only options at the moment.  Optically either is an excellent option.

I'm admittedly very new, extremely amateur at photography but I do own an NX1 with that lens. It's the only lens I've used with it (only one I own!). I like it. I can't say with confidence much more than that since I have no credibility, but there are boatloads of reviews that say the optical quality is good, the AF is quiet, and the OIS is good. To me these all seem true. I've had no problems. Even the exposure change that people are talking about hasn't been an issue with the camera--but I've had smart range off the whole time. I'm not doing tons of focus pulling or anything yet, so for the manual focus by wire I can't comment.

Lucy touched a topic that has actually a lot more to show, so I think it was a bit superficial compared to what it could have been, but I still enjoyed it very much and it was refreshing to see something new and unusual.

Don't. You have the right to ask, and you deserve an answer, even if it's a simple "it's none of your business". Way too much emotions in the reactions, let this go.

Then get drawn back in. I remember some forums where I just hot headedly stayed away for a couple of days, intending to never return, then after a few days of cooling down period, realized that I was overreacting and it would suck not being able to join in. A forum is a community thing, so the content is what you and others (including Andrew, but not exclusively) make of it. So what it's all about around here for the greater part reflects the user base. If you feel like something's missing... then add to it.
And just coming back to the blog and reviews itself, remember, blogs are always opinionated and subjective to a certain degree. What makes a blogger succesful is a very strong own opinion. You can check out CNET Reviews and everything's great about everything and they list you the specs... that's nice and all, but I want someone to really give me their thoughts on it, get to the nitty gritty of it all and backing it up with reasoning why that's how they feel about it in a certain way. This way a blogger earns my trust. If you don't trust someone, well, that's just too bad. If you do trust Andrew, then what's with all the fuzz to begin with?
I'm pretty sure nobody wants to see anybody leave. Everyone should be welcome here, even if visions don't align. Listen, I understand you probably have the best intentions and to a certain degree you can always speak your mind freely, but you can't demand something of a person, claiming he has some kind of responsibility to do something, when he in fact does not. Well anyways, you got it out, you got your answer, now just put it behind you. No reason to stop being a part of the community because of that.
To end this comment, I'd just like to point you to Andrew's mission statement:
If you can identify with that. Then what's the problem here?

Taranis got a reaction from Ivar Kristjan Ivarsson in A Video Player for H.265(NX1 video files) that works!
Yeah MPC-HC can play H265, but it needs CPU power. I downloaded the UHD files from imaging-resource.com when they first came out. My i7-3770 can play them, but all the cores are used up to 100%, and the playback is not perfectly fluid. I don't have a dedicated graphics card, but I guess it wouldn't help.
EDIT: just downloaded the newest 1.7.7, they made a huge improvement in HEVC playback. Now the core usage goes up to 60%, and NX1 UHD plays perfectly!!

Slashcam tested the D750 video features, they even compared it to the D810 and GH4 here: http://www.slashcam.de/artikel/Test/Nikon-D750---Nikons-beste-Fullframe-Video-DSLR-bisher---Das-wahre-Leben.html#Das_w
As I see it has about the same image quality as the D810, just a tiny bit softer.

It would be fine for me too, but I wonder how well the existing NX lenses perform on this body. We'll have to wait and see, as we don't have too many options here.
