  1. A while ago EOSHD had dissolved into a non-productive confrontational forum. Other forums bashed EOSHD and personally insulted Andrew Reid. I suggested to Andrew (as did others) that he use moderators to help clean up the forum: http://www.eoshd.com/comments/topic/5456-potential-changes-to-the-forum-to-prioritise-good-content-suggestions-welcome/?page=3. I was a moderator at Cinema5D but stopped going there after it moved to Planet5D and died (I made it clear I didn't have time to be a moderator again).

Politely challenging someone with facts and logic and focusing on what is being discussed is not confrontational. It's how we learn and grow. I learn a great deal doing research in these discussions. I share the results with everyone.

When one runs out of facts or logic, many times they turn to emotion and begin personal attacks. In debate, this is called ad hominem, and is an instant fail.

When the site owner is participating in ad hominems with antagonistic and confrontational interactions, that sends the wrong message to the rest of the moderation team, and also encourages members to exhibit the same behavior. Leading by example is important. Is this post confrontational? It's critical and fair given what has transpired in this thread.

Perhaps the current moderation team doesn't have time to help out. If Ebrahim has time, I think he'd make a great moderator. Perhaps there are others.

I liked the posts of Matt James Smith. He challenged Andrew. He's gone.
I like your posts. You challenged Andrew. Please don't leave :)

  2. Thanks for the support Ebrahim and I'm sorry but I really do want to delete my account. I wish I could just stop using the forum but I know I'll get drawn back in. I don't want to spoil any more threads with my discontent.

I think this forum engine (IP Board) does not come with this feature by design, you can only do this with optional 3rd party plugins. But let's wait for Andrew's answer.

  3. Yeah MPC-HC can play H265, but it needs CPU power. I downloaded the UHD files from imaging-resource.com when they first came out. My i7-3770 can play them, but all the cores are used up to 100%, and the playback is not perfectly fluid. I don't have a dedicated graphics card, but I guess it wouldn't help.

EDIT: just downloaded the newest 1.7.7, they made a huge improvement in HEVC playback. Now the core usage goes up to 60%, and NX1 UHD plays perfectly!!

  4. Sure, this is what I see first:

Then I click "Follow this", and it gets me to this page:

    eoshd_02.thumb.jpg.8eebc6436388e24b68c5e

Then I click "Follow this" again, and the result is:

It has to do something with the topics I followed before the new engine, as I have no problems following anything else.

  5. I already posted this in another tread, but let's move it here:
If I try to follow this tread: "Let's see what the Samsung NX1 is REALLY capable of - shooting 4K in sunny Lisbon", I get a popup, where I can click "Follow this". Then I get another page with the same content as the popup. If I click "Follow this" again, I get this message:
    "Sorry, there is a problem
Something went wrong. Please try again.
    Error code: EX1062"
I noticed, that the same happens with older topics I followed earlier. Now with this new engine my followed content is gone, and I can't re-follow them. However, I can easily follow new topics.
I checked this in the latest IE, FF, and Chrome, it's not browser dependent. I'm on Windows 7, if that matters.
