I'm not really following this....are you suggesting that regardless of which camera you buy from Panasonic, or what you pay for it, all their cameras should be capable of the same features and IQ?

Cine 3 with its steeper curve has the best skintones as well. No grade necessary.
I had a similar problem as well with fast Nikkors & the speedbooster on the BMPCC. In my case it was due to excessive flaring which caused these casts. Better coating on modern lenses helps...

@ Rinad Amir: nice trio... or well, quattro! How are you finding the 12-60mm? Haven't found any time to play around with it yet, want to see if it actually blows the Lumix one out of the water or if I should sell it off... definitely keeping my eyes open for a bargain 42.5mm f/1.2, I do love the new style primes!

Only lately I was tempted to buy the GH5 (after I had sold my Pocket), but decided to give the A6500 a try. Reluctantly, because ...
    > I had seen the awful menu of the A7S and A7rii
The menu is a mess. Fortunately, you have the FN-button and can dial M1-M4 for quick access and your preferred shooting modes.
    > I'd never liked the Sony "color science"
There is S-Log2. Within the last 2 months, I learned to expose it properly and (almost, with the help of the histogram) intuitively for every situation except night shots, where Cine1 seems to work better. The DR preserved within S-Log2 is very good, the GH5, 10-bit or not, has less. The colors? I tried a few things and found the Omeneo primers (20 bucks) to be to my taste. Not much headroom left for extreme grading, but I'm not good at that anyway.
    > I was sceptic about the usability of AF
Yes, I always focused manually. I still do, with very shallow DoF or in dark, low contrast places. But for most situations, the AFC is better than me. Fast, spot-on, reliable, no hunting.
    > I did not like any of the lowlight demos
... but nobody forces me to shoot like this. What's wrong with being able to shoot at ISO 6400 without needing Neat?
    > I heard terrible things about the rolling shutter
I found this to be true. The solution to this is IBIS. Problem solved.

kidzrevil reacted to jcs in Multi-spectral Detail Enhancement
Sometimes we need to enhance the detail of a shot: a very soft lens, slightly out of focus, slow motion, post cropping (for story/emotion or after stabilization), and so on. Most are familiar with the sharpen effect and the unsharp masking effect. We can combine both effects, as well as use unsharp masking to create a local contrast enhancement effect as well.
Canon 1DX II and Canon 50mm 1.4 at 1.4, 1080p (Filmic Skin picture style):

Multi-spectral Detail Enhancement (let's call it MSDE, based on the physics of Acutance)
Fine noise grain: adds texture and increases perception of detail (Noise effect: 2%, color, not clipped) High frequency sharpening: in PP CC this is called Sharpen (as a standalone effect) or via Lumetri/Creative/Sharpen (as used here: 93.4) Mid frequency sharpening: Unsharp masking effect with amount 41 and a radius of 5 Low frequency sharpening (Local Contrast Enhancement or LCE): Unsharp masking effect with amount 50 and a radius of 300
While this may be a bit too sharp/detailed for some, it illustrates MSDE, and one can add detail to taste using this technique. Note we didn't use a contrast effect or curves to achieve this look.
MSDE can also be use to improve HD to 4K upscales: apply after upscaling. Also a great way to use Canon's soft-ish 1080p along with DPAF (since it's not currently available in any other cameras on the market). The GH5 is the new kid on the block with excellent detail, however Canon still looks more filmic to me and has excellent AF
Someday Adobe will GPU accelerate their Unsharp Mask effect (it's a trivially easy effect to code too!), so this can easily run in real-time while editing.

kidzrevil reacted to Andrew - EOSHD in Slow-mo shootout - which camera gives the most detail at 120fps?
The loss of detail is due the pixel binning method used on the sensor to increase the readout speed. It's not due to bitrate. 80Mbit is a LOT for H.265 1080p. That is equivalent to 160Mbit 1080p on the GH4!

Yeah, it's a cool trick my dumb ass stumbled upon. It was one of the features that wanted me to keep the a6500, but in the end the RX10ii filled the void I needed and the BMPCC will be my main cam. If sLog3 was more usable with the a6500, I'm unsure I'd gain much with the Pocket cam, but as it is, I just want that simpler cinematic image the Pocket affords me.
Btw, with trial and error, you can also set your zebras to work with the auto ISO/meter method if you want to make sure you're not blowing out any highlights. I didn't find a need for it in most instances but it may help with some high contrast shots.

I'm not sure...even on the GH4 I had little problem and the GH 2 which I still own, has an Image I love...but as you know, taste is subjective...I love the image from BM but their earlier 2 cameras were ergonomically impractical IMO...stunning image though....Panasonic color I will take over Canon or Sony any day (except for the Sony F35...which I think has the best digital image of any camera today, including the Alexa)...my only interest is in narrative...I need certain reliability factors satisfied and in my work It's my taste and look that counts...that's what allows me to tell a story...be it 30 seconds or 1 hour....but that's the beauty of today....so many choices...one really can't blame the cameras any more....when I started working in the industry you shoton an Arriflex S35 film camera or for handheld on the shoulder an Aaron S16 film camera...those were the choices and the process was horrendously expensive and really only for the select few...and what you say about the GH cameras is true, but for me (only my opinion) it holds true for all cameras today...far more crap shot on all of them...yet put any of these cameras in the hands of a crew 2 to 3 to operate the GH x or A6500 and lighting and production value and I can guarantee you, you would not know what camera you were looking at...so personally I try to look between the lines when choosing my cameras...but finally...nobody's right or wrong...just different taste and abilities....

Should arrive today and I'll give it a spin on the weekend. Wish I had thought of getting a step-up adapter already to use it on the Voigtländer, for now I'll try with the Olympus 12-40 2.8.
In unrelated note, we have now bought way more native m4/3 lenses than I wanted. My girlfriend hogs all the lenses I like but the 17.5mm 0.95 (she doesn't dig the manual focus). We now have the Panasonic 14mm 2.5, 25mm 1.4 and 42.5mm 1.7 and especially with the GX80 the size of the system is really neat.

But i havent enough money so i switched to other brand. And still not a gh5 even im principally shooting in anamorphic )
