hahaha. Just doin it for the love! (I'm the dude with the glasses btw). I didn't really set out to make this thing I just shot and it happened.

    Lenses on E2 +MBXL:
    nFD taking lenses - 85mm f1.8, 135mm f2.8, 200mm f4
    Anamorphic: ISCO s8.
    Rapido FVD8A variable diopter.
(There's also a couple of shots of the yellow rail and kicker which were taken with el-nikkor 50mmf4 and Kowa8).

Lenses on GH5 + MBXL (housing shots mostly):
    nFD 24mm f2
    Sony 1.33x anamorphic

    Drone and Action Cam:
    Hero 7
    Mavic

@tweak, some crazy ass rebels infront and behind that camera! Hard to believe. What was your taking lens?

Yeah, I mean a camera is a camera. The F3 is a lot easier to get to a nice point color wise though. A bmpcc 4k or something can look good in the right hands as well, it just takes a lot more post work / experience in my opinion. Flat film scans are probably the easiest format to grade.

I've been shooting the E2 with anamorphics for over a year now, it's an amazing package for the price. I mostly shoot in 48fps Zlog2 Pro Res for the best of both worlds. A lot of what I do is sports.

Here's the latest thing I did with mostly 2x anamorphics, the waterhousing stuff is 1.33x GH5. Just scrub through and you can find some shots. Very happy with the camera.

Funny you say that, because I could see some bits were actually shot on 16mm (sharpness and motion), it just looked like that other stuff was fake over lays haha, my apology's.

You're right though, the two match really really well, I haven't seen digital matched to 16mm as well as that, especially not in a skate video. Maybe you shouldn't have sold that camera (or maybe you just know what you are doing, in which case you'll be fine with another camera).

Thank you! That's actually all real 16mm film shot on Bolex! I suppose this just shows how much of a film look the F3 has. I had to tone the 16mm down a bit to match.
I've done a bunch of projects on 16mm but a traditional skate project like this is not feasible to do all on film. If you're curious, you can poke around my Vimeo.

I really enjoyed using this setup. I work for a studio that has a pair of the C300 Mk2s and I really got used to having something that was really compact and easy to use. I should have shot more projects with this camera.
I could run the camera and monitor for around 2 hours from one Swit battery. I would love to see this camera with some Leica Rs or high quality PL glass.

Some more awesome footage from our friend Ben Ericson. Too bad he sold it a few days ago. Great for the buyer though, I can say on the other side. Happy that I bought that camera. With the 1080p 5inch version of the Blackmagic video assist it is a beautiful looking and practical setup with even 60p. Took that inspiration from Bens setup.
Now I will wait for a video assist for little money, so I dont have to lugg around my big Atomos Shogun.

What if it is only the performance of a BMPC4K? (yes, the old Production 4K camera)

And all it adds is putting it into the Z Cam E2-S6 body / form factor (but with the price too!).

I hope JVC doesn't release a global shutter camera at the moment.

As yes you are right, Kinson did say that, it was a mistake for them to release a global shutter Z Cam. As they got badly mislead by a small but vocal minority into believing "global shutter" is far more important than it really is. (and I was telling them this back then too! I was quite vocal myself in their discussions trying to be the voice of reason and being "anti global shutter")

yep, I've seen the F6 rolling shutter and it is on par with other full frame sensors in this pricing bracket. Meaning, not great. But you'd really have to purposefully induce it for it to be a problem. That being said, if you need to do a whip-pan, the E2 with a .64x speedbooster will get you nearly to full frame (1.2x crop) and be a good back-up for this, HFRs, etc.
Weight difference is only 100g. No idea about timecode.

Am glad that Deity exists, as they're pushing Rode to innovate and improve themselves. I kinda half doubt if Rode would have put out as many or as interesting new products recently if not for Deity.

And of course Deity isn't standing still either, Rode plays catch up and gets ahead, but then Deity strikes back with their new products.

Feel like the last few years has been some of the most exciting times there has been for low budget but semi-professional audio products!

Don't want to sound like a dick but what's with the picture covers on youtube? Everybody does the same thing. Funny face and the product smashed in front of it. Is there an agreement on this or just an established trend?

I was removed from the Facebook group because I argued that the footage should be critiqued and analyzed like any other footage. It’s a very weird vibe over there. Either you bow down to Jared or you get the boot. They also preach maturity, but can’t take any criticism. When the whole Red SSD fiasco happened, the amount of people defending Red on their forums were crazy. I don’t even dislike their cameras, but man it feels like you have to constantly walk on eggshells.

Totally agree. Not to mention most the videos now are just over animated, click-bait jackasses making videos in the hope that they will go "viral"... real info is so hard to find. It's much worse than trying to find it in text because there's no search that checks the contents of videos for you, just the title (which means almost nothing).

On top of this I feel social media and more so Youtube video is the main reason for people having stupid views and opinions on stuff now days. They don't read, so they don't look at any reputable source of information and instead listen to what some completely unqualified person has to say in a video. Sorry, but the world is broken.

    https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCptwuAv0XQHo1OQUSaO6NHw/videos
He soon changed interests when he saw the amount of views coming in for the Macbook benchmark videos so he is now all about that.
First for virtually every google search for the Macbook Pro 16 graphics benchmark topics.
Max is playing the system very successfully.
Hopefully less competition for written blogs... But I feel they are being pushed into oblivion instead... some kind of invisible irrelevance by Google and Facebook's bias, always recommending stuff hosted on their own services in response to searches and the news feed AI.
Plus I hate digging for good stuff. Same old tech blogs dominate the first 2 pages of everywhere, usually. And it's mostly clickbait trash written in a rush and full of ads.

The other thing about the written word is you can’t tell which way round I am wearing my baseball cap or if I am even wearing underpants.
I think there’s a place for both but too many people on MeTube spend far too much time talking about their lives when the reality is, we don’t know you and don’t give a shit.
But what do I know being of 1970 vintage and moving into the miserable old git category...

And here I am, in my early twenties - so I'm technically a millennial / Generation Y - with my my strong preference towards written word.
I deeply hate the fact that people nowadays tend to turn their blogs into vlogs, etc.
For me, having to go to YouTube for a piece of information that could be put clearly in two or three sentences is one of the plagues of 21st century.
I understand that our hobby - cameras and stuff related to them - is a visual hobby and words can't always be used to show what we mean or to share what we managed to create using our babies.
Nonetheless, I think that over 30% of YouTube content could easily be transcribed and deprived of audio-visual stimuli and we, as viewers, would only gain from it.
It's just terribly tiring, how much shit, unneeded clutter there is to almost everything.
You could say that you save your time, because there are no ads per se, but the amount of in-video marketing and advertising, etc. is terrifying.

But still, not every channel is like this and, surely, there are some that are really worth being subscribed to.
The amount of knowledge that can be found on YT (if you know what you're looking for) is invaluable and often can't be put into words that easily.

It's a tough nut to crack.
