Even without VLOG, I'm loving this camera and floored by the colors and dynamic range. Here are a couple screengrabs from a shoot I was on yesterday, using the HLG profile. I'm very, very excited to get my hands on the log upgrade. I think this is the first time I've ever had a video camera where I'm actually choosing the DR I want scene-to-scene at my discretion, rather than being forced to deal with limitations of the camera. There's plenty of room in the shadows and highlight roll-off is silky smooth. Color me impressed.

Seems to work pretty well after messing with the WB shift in camera to get rid of the green tint. Im starting to love using the GH5 with this Lut. I'v never had a camera produce such great colours with minimal effort.

So, my brother has a channel of his kid playing the ABC's game.  The little guy is obsessed with the alphabet and he's a charming good natured kid.  So, bro started making videos with his son everytime the little guy wanted to play with his letters.  At the end of a year they had made about 150 vids.  Somehow the YT algorithm, or an influencer, smiled on their little channel and overnight their subscription rate went from 25 people to 75K; still growing.  He turned on the monetize option and just received a check this month for $2K.
My bro is a blue collar dude and scrapes by.  This is like hitting the lottery a little bit.  He puts in the work, sure, but he and his son both love it and they're getting paid for it now.  He's making more videos than I do.  And, if I'm being honest, they're more engaging than the dry corporate shit I usually do for pay. And, with the extra income he can actually pay a few bills on time for a change.
OTOH, I'm an old creative and working under the traditional distribution model of filmmaking.  My wife and I have tanked about 35K of our own cash into our latest documentary and we've made, maybe, 5K of that back.
    So, brave new world, y'all.

For the Pocket4K, I know of a device that uses a wheel to manually control the speed of the pull between two marked points on electronic lenses.
My main takeaway from the video is how insanely priced the ultrasonic "AF" systems for the cinema cameras are.

Jonesy Jones reacted to BTM_Pix in DVD alternative?
One option would be package it within an iOS and Android apps.
There are a large number of services that offer template based creation tools that would be suitable to build a similar structure to a DVD.
The advantage to doing it this way would be that it is secure in terms of piracy (of the sort that the average consumer would get up to at least), has no reproduction cost in terms of time or materials aside from the initial master, is easy to manage financially as all the transactions are done through the app stores and is more convenient for the customer as it is done directly onto their device rather than through the mail etc.
Consuming media on a phone/device is not the hurdle it once was in terms of acceptance but even so most people are now able to cast the output one way or another on to a TV if they still want a big screen shared experience.
Another alternative would be to pick up a used older Mac to dedicate to DVD Studio Pro if you still wanted to stick with physical media. Or even use something like Parallels to let you run an instance of an older version of OSX on your current Mac.

Haha, I would say your more of an "internet celebrity" than I am   I've been following your site for a very long time. Thanks for the great content. I did join to reply to some of the posts on this thread and answer some questions as they come up. I usually try to do this if I see my videos shared on sites. I might post a bit from time to time but I can't spend too much time on forums/groups since I already work way too much. Unlike a lot of photography/video YouTubers I still make a majority of my income from actual video work and I don't intent on become a "full-time YouTube" since I find it weird to teach about cameras when the only time you use them is to make a youtube video. I actually just hired another employee to take the load off of editing so I can get to shoot more and work a little less.
Yea Youtube is horrible lately. They keep tweaking the algorithms and forcing channels to change or die. You may have noticed may channels that are around the million mark who used to consistently get hundreds of thousands of view per video and now they are getting less than I am. Google is pushing creators to have to clickbait and make dumb choices or find a new career. Thats especially tough for those that have employees that rely on the income to feed their families. A single tweak of the algorithm and a lot of your old great content is no longer suggested or you're clickthrough rate is low in the first hour you post and then the video is basically shadow banned.. I'm doing my very best to create thumbnails and titles that are "clickable" but not clickbait..
The original thumbnail for this video was the two cameras and I thought it was sweet but I guess it didn't get enough views and the video started dying out so I had to change it up, and the side by side shot was just too similar to stand out when in the suggested section so I had to boost it up. This video didn't take too long, but I've had some that were a full week of 8+ hour days to make and in those cases it really sucks when you make a really good helpful video and almost no one sees it, even though you know that it would be helpful for so many people. Now that YouTube filters out videos even in your subscriber feed you can put out a few videos and they won't even show up to most of your subscribers...
Thanks for being Kind Kye! I wen't back and fourth on the best way to do this, and settled on somewhere in the middle (using factory presets) using proper custom white balance would be the best but I know a lot of shooters don't do this because they are beginners or they don't want to (or they are shooting run n gun, like I am when shooting weddings) If someone isn't willing to tweak colors in post they will likely not want to custom WB. It's funny I was actually criticized by multiple people on using WB presets and was told the proper way to do it was to use auto white balance. This forums is full of much more advanced shooters and whereas Youtube has a very wide audience so I often have to choose a middle ground.
I'm sorry you feel this way. My tests, comparisons, and reviews are definitely not perfect but I do try hard to keep them accurate while being reasonable in time and target audience. I have my preferences but try to keep my biases out and let people know when its my opinion and why.  What tests did you not like and what is Toxic? I'd love to get specific feedback. A lot of my complaints and harsh judgements about cameras have often matched to with Andrews.
Actually I did share Pro Color with quite a few people and mentioned your site in multiple vids, I've just stayed way too busy the last few years growing my business and my family (3 kids now) so I haven't been able to spend as much time visiting sites or even watching as much other content creators videos as I used to. I'm also a bit anti-social like many people who are driven to start sites online of Youtube channels, and I'm terrible at reaching out and collaborating with other creators since I feel like I'll just be a nuisance or I'll be asking for favors which I hate doing.
Anyways, I'll keep doing what I enjoy doing and will keep improving my skills and YT videos whilst trying to provide the most value I can to a large audience of all kinds of video shooters.

tysm!!! yeah, im from SD but i moved a couple years ago, but being that its the place im most familiar with besides LA, i decided to shoot it all there~! @Jonesy Jones is from the hood too! [warning: the golden west hotel is like arkham asylum ? and the horton plaza parking structure security guards are REALLY humorless ?]
lol thank you. i hear ya. @Snowfun @thebrothersthre3 heres a thing: one scene is out of order
like honey bunny and pumpkin at the beginning of pulp fiction, where youre getting a glimpse of the last scene, theres one part that isnt chronological:
the part when the girl finds the red book in the hallway happens AFTER the following scene where the young man tears a page out of that same red book. he presumably drops it, and she finds it – its his journal. so she reads it, or something, and learns how to meet him "out of body" on the roof. hes been taking notes on his experiences
previously, the young man goes to the old man with a pen, and tears a piece of paper out of his journal, because they have communicated about this astral projection phenomenon. the young man wants the old man to write something arbitrary – it could be anything – to see if he can subsequently "read" it at night, (which is a thing that i dont believe in called 'remote viewing' lol. the CIA did have some psychic spies tho... ?)
so the film goes like this:
    (1) the young mans day
    (2) the womans day
    (3) the old mans day
    (4) the meeting on the roof
BUT 2 and 3 would have to be switched to make it chronological
maybe that helps a bit ?
naww, dont say that about yourself~! ive made plenty of stuff that turned out to be a complete disaster, thats why im getting better~!!! ?
my biggest reflection on making this film is that it was a TRANSFORMATIVE experience for me because you just dont GET the whole filmmaking process until you DO it. you might have a strong intellectual understanding of it, but much like being in a NASA swimming pool it is not the same as being an actual astronaut in outer space lol. we learn by doing! at least i do. seeing the process as a whole was eye opening in an indescribable way for me, hard to explain, but you guys know what i mean~! ?

ok so in the spirit of eoshd togetherness I have decided to share this video to see what u guys think. maybe it will inspire zach ☺️
    let me explain:
i made this short at the end of last year, but I never completed the edit/fx/etc 100%. Got busy with other stuff, and I was working up my gumption to come back to it with a fresh eye.
then my iMac broke, and I have a new ‘puter on the way, but I’m anticipating the nightmare of opening resolve and Siri saying ERROR: NO MEDIA FOUND, because my files, ALTHOUGH BACKED UP, are super disorganized, there might be a few things missing, but at the very least it’ll be a big pain in the ass to relink everything to get going on this again
aannnyyyway I always feel bad for posting literally zero videos but numerous dog pics and I was like Screw it, its not perfect, but here ya go.
this is not the best file, its the one I had in icloud, there could be a better render, etc etc, and its getting murdered by youtube compression, but my first reaction watching it after not messing with it for a few months was…. …Hey~! Its not too bad! ☺️ not bad for a first film i made all by myself! imagine if I had a crew, a budget… ?
so, if youd like to see, pls check it out, and if you have any helpful feedback that involves changing/adding things, that’s great, but I do NOT have access to the actors/locations any more and there is almost no chance of me shooting additional footage, so as long as suggestions don’t involve me spending any more money on this project, I’m all in ?
at best, I think this is a cool example of what one person can do with a 5d3 in 2019 with no budget, crew, or resources whatsoever... as indie as it gets lolol

This seems cheaper, smaller and more powerful tha the grip and with and you can use a normal V-mount mount on the bottom of a cage to act as a grip.
    https://www.newsshooter.com/2019/04/09/fxlion-nano-one-v-mount-battery/
Looks like you can power a umber of different things all at the same time.
Well yeah - same with LPE6 batteries though. It's just another thing that can go wrong, and is easily avoided once you stick a grip under your camera. Aren't there issues with using dummy batteries though, and much better to go straight tot eh 12v input on the side?

Those are really impressive. The last time I looked into the idea of an interim solution for the P4K was for Eugenia Loli (she is the one who got me into cameras in 2008, on HV20.com; EC probably wouldn't exist without her). From what I saw, there was only a transform for the original Pocket; the P4K (cs4) wasn't yet supported. Though - you won't have to wait long for P4K support methinks.
That's the exact same artifact as on the GH5. Low saturation and contrast gradient macroblocks that don't know whether they want to be more red or more green. It seems to arise from codec compression + log especially - is it mp4?
Yes, no later than the summer
