the unit you have is maybe the worst available.  However if your lens wont even seat into that adaptor it probably wont fit any eos-pl adaptor.  It doesnt look like the work of RAF.  it looks like they fashioned that pl mount by hand -it's certainly not been made on a lathe!
the ciecio7 unit is the best value for money while being very close to true PL mounts manufactured by Arri however I'd hazard a guess that you lens wouldnt even fit a real arri camera.

the main problem with your adaptor from jie ying is that they havent placed the orientation pin in the correct position meaning the anamorphic wont be aligned correctly from the start.  other than that, as long as the back of your lens falls within the parameters listed in this listing, http://i1183.photobucket.com/albums/x474/henrykborsuk/pleosbagnetwymiary.jpg

there shouldnt be a problem - the lens should at least seat into the adaptor you have.  if the pl mount on your lens is bigger than the dims on this image, no eos-pl adaptor will work with it.

They're all afraid of doing things properly.  Business men who see everyone talking about anamorphic and think they can make a quick buck without understanding why people shoot anamorphic in the first place.
it's an awfully large lump for such a tiny front element.  they claim it's for use on their fast s35mm primes, but that element aint big enough to do that.  then they select 1.33x.
I'm not afraid of 2kg, if it does more than a isco54 - ie, is sharp at f1.4, full frame, single focus, allows 50mm or wider taking lenses on full frame.  Unfortunately it looks as if it;s gonna be another pointless lens that the uninformed owner operator buy thinking it will make their work look more cinematic.  Then they'll slap a 'cinema lens' price tag on it.
LOMO don;t need to return.  They did all they needed to with the square fronts and round fronts.  why do these companies always miss the point, reintroducing something but in a watered down boring way?

Rook, thank-you so much for restarting this thread and also the link to Boyd Hobbs' very informative writeup!
I love the look of the FM module + cinelux but have yet to use it with a taking lens shorter than the 58mm (Helios).  Using 15mm LW rods, setup is very straightforward, but swapping out the taking lens is a real pain.  Also, except for cinelux I had little luck with my other anamorphic adapters.  I was looking forward to using my Isco ultra star. :/
Quite intrigued with Boyd Hobbs' very clever solution.  The pl mount option is extremely appealing to me since I recently acquired a Sony F3 - hope BH is willing to share his 3D design.
    Thanks again,
    Marco

I agree 100%!  I purchased one months ago after reading the FM forum posts and I use it with Schneider Cinelux - it works as advertised.
Love to learn more about Boyd Hobbs' clever solution he used for the Delta spot.  Unfortunately the link is broken:

Please let me know if you have a copy of his writeup.
    Thanks,

Yeah, this is a problem for me too.

It is so clearly a scam.

That said, it has not been without it's benefits. It has cut my ebay spending by about 90% since this absurd gouging has taken place.

At this point, if I see the global shipping program on the ad, I just click off.

It is the seller's way of saying they do not want to sell internationally.

I did mention earlier in this thread

Pentax 40mm f2.8 and Carl Zeiss 35mm Flektogon both work nicely .

also the Russian KMZ 45mm f3.5 Mir 26 in Kiev mount/pentacon 6 is a very nice medium format lens - great resolution and has that Russian single coating look / flare - I found this a very nice lens for the Schneider.....and its cheap on ebay too.

Also the Carl Zeiss 45mm f2.8 pancake lens in C/Y mount has that classic Zeiss pop look to it....a very very sharp combo with the schneider !!

there are alot of lens in the 35- 45mm range to use.
another nice Russian lens for character is the
    Mir-1B 37mm, f/2.8

Im sure Rich will be pleased to flog you a FF38 too as thats an option ! mutant Russian optics redone in his style .

ps I almost forgot an insanly good cheap lens is the 35mm Fujinon f1.7 (made in Japan NOT FUJIAN MADE IN CHINA ) in cmount (it needs a quick modification to fit a c mount adaptor - BUT its a steller sharp Carl Zeiss Distagon equivilent lens great contrast and colours ......insanley good and fast for shooting outside at night wide open ....

To be fair, if you read the thread:

What is being discussed is a checking of interest in the focus module to push prices down, not a reselling by comurit. And so far it's at the early stage for interest-checking, there has not even been a discussion yet for how a possible discount would be given.

I can agree on the part that we really need more information about Anamorphic shop before ordering anything from them. No website so far, only a Facebook page. I'd rather know who's behind it all before ordering anything from them, discount code or not.

I must agree on what came up in the earlier thread: You as a moderator are biased - you are using the rules for selling on the forum, when the discussion is on the topic of interest-checking and discount - something that could be a nice thing for every user of the anamorphic forum. (Not too different from when Andrew got early-buyers discounts on the SLR Magic for the joy of the forum users). I see these kind of community efforts as something that adds to this community, not subtracts.

Could it possibly have something to do with the fact that you have anamorphic business yourself that you want to protect? I'm a longtime reader of this forum and I'd want unbiased moderation on this forum.

Threatening to purge a thread sounds like you do it for your own good, to be honest. I have a hard time seeing it any other way, however much I'd like to.

This seems to be different market than Rectilux is going for. This FM module comes in at about 800 bucks (+ your projector lens), but the rectilux is over 4 thousand dollars!

rook reacted to richg101 in Showing the Iscorama fast and wide
I wanted to show how the Iscorama 36 delivers when fitted to a fast 50mm on full frame.   boring imagery I'm afraid

due to the size of the sensor the field of view obtained here is very close to that which you would expect from a 35mm focal length anamorphic on 4perf 35mm film.  A 35mm anamorphic lens is considered wide, and anything beyond that is considered a 'special effects' type lens as far as i am aware.  I feel the ability to obtain a wide angle from a anamorphic is a very desirable attribute.  A fast wide is the holy grail.

The magic is that despite the fact that we are getting a little fringing on leaves (characteristics of the 50mm lens when wide open), the results at f1.4 (t1.5) are astounding when you consider the width of frame and the control of dof possible on this combo.

to me I think this is the benchmark the new bunch of single focus options should be compared against.

-can they deliver this field of view/dof combination? nearly what you;d expect from a motion picture 35mm anamorphic from the likes of panavision.
-can they deliver the above without adding CA or softening at f1.4?
-can they do this on a full frame sensor?
-can they do this without adding vignette?
-can they provide this without the need for additional support?

-ultimately, can the new options improve on the Iscorama when the above criterion are met?

This is not a poke at the new units, but a personal opinion of my own which i feel needs to be considered.  For example since the SLR magic anamorphot arrived not a single user has really put it through any challenging tasks and as such, we are now seeing many appearing on ebay due to what i imagine is disappointment from users expecting more from it.  at the time of launch of the slr magic iscoramas went down in value slightly.  of recent i have seen a lot coming up for sale - from people thinking about the new options around the corner?  who knows?

if we had seen the slr magic tested on a f1.4 prime on full frame we'd have probably seem more obvious oval bokeh, however, will it have been so soft the results are null and void?  We need to see these things IMO.

These stills look great, Dave.  It looks like you got it figured it out.

Odd how imprecise these lenses can be.

That said, IMHO, on a 16:9 sensor the 1.41 is a more desirable. Looks like you got lucky!

Having it sitting for a long time, I said to finally give it a try, as until now it was impossible to get any info about it, or even so to find a video made with this rare beast.
Quick test of the Moller Anamorphot 30/2x, on an Oly E-M1.
I have to admit that wasn't that easy to work with it, it's big like an Iscorama, not easy to use just an anamorphic clamp and I always prefer smaller anamorphics to play with, so I don't have the proper rig solution for this Moller. But the image quality that comes out of it, puts it (at least) beside Iscorama.
Any comment is welcome, this lens is a miracle:
