Daniel Acuña reacted to Andrew Reid in EOSHD’s top 5 cameras of the year 2014
I have always ranked the 1D C's image in the top 10 of all the modern cinema cameras available. This was from nearly 1 year ago -
    http://www.eoshd.com/2014/02/video-quality-charts-february-2014/
It is a £10,000 camera available now for £5000, in some cases £3500 (James Miller and Dan Chung sold theirs for around that amount).
I don't see how this is so upsetting for those browsing for a new camera in 2015. I think it's a total bargain.

Not sure which focal reducer you have but, the RJ has an infinity focus adjustment. I also have GX7 and Contax Zeiss 50mm f/1.7 with the same problem you have. RJ sent me this picture so that I can fix it. But I just didn't have time to do it. Just be careful though; mark the current position and rotate it in small increments until you are satisfied.
In my case, I can focus to infinity but I just have to dial it back a bit. This is to fix it so that when the focus in at infinity sign, it is actually focused to infinity.
    Hope this helps.

My FS7 review is coming in January if I fit it in. Disclaimer...Sony are lending me one! Why? Because I'm skint now!

Last week I realized that I had learned a lot of things this year, but specially that I still have to learn a lot of things! This website and this forum has been a huge help for me, it's a very good community, and lots of people willing to share their knowledge.
I would like to focus more on the content of my work than the technical part, I tend to focus to much on what camera and lens I am using rather than what I am shooting. And don't have to forget that they are just tools to support the story and the content.
And I hope to get accepted in the film school I am applying to.

I think it might be wise to understand the model of focal reducer that is being used.  if of a split pin type retainer it could be that the split pins are just opened up too much and should get looser as you use it.

personally before getting the dremel or emery cloth out, I would remove the speed booster from the camera and give the two a bit of force attach then remove a few times.  remving the camera from the equation means the actual camera isnt being subjected to stress.

Had similar problem.  Used dremel to sand between the mount flanges to fix.  You just want to make sure you don't get dust in lens or anywhere else.  You could also try using your wife's/girlfriend's nail file.

The more people keep buying the old 1080p stuff from Canon the more they are going to keep the 4K stuff in the vault and coast along. They can sell us a $5k 1080p camera and then also a $8k 4K camera at some point in 2015. Such profit. Please people stop buying dated equipment and reward the innovators like Sony...

Wow I am surprised so many people didn't really like Interstellar, it was really a great movie for me at least, I guess It's for a different generation I don't know...

My favorite movies this year where Mommy by Xavier Dolan (he is 25 years old and makes such amazing movies it's insane! that guy is a genius) I also liked Gone Girl, Locke, Under the skin, The Grand Budapest Hotel and Boyhood.

Any camera is perfect as long as you actually do something with it...besides just take test pictures of leaves and then compare DxO charts the rest of the time.

Or, just wait for the next big/best thing. Have a lot of patience because it never comes.

Daniel Acuña reacted to Andrew Reid in Samsung NX1 - which is 4K video and which is the 28MP raw still? Can you tell?
    A is video.

Some people got it perfectly. A bit more compression in the blacks on A and a bit more sharpening in-camera. The raw file had more C/A because Adobe Camera Raw didn't remove it by default and sharpness was left on default as well which is why it looked a little softer.

But the very fact that they look so similar to the general 'audience' with almost a 50-50 split between you on this forum over which was which, shows how good the video is on this camera.

but - gx7 is the best panasonic 1080p camera they have made to date - it has the same sensor as the gh4

its is very very clean , produces a superb image .so if you can get one its a better camera longterm

Yep I also find hard to believe that the red dragon has 18-20 stops of DR. Maybe it has something to do with the HDRx mode on the dragon, I don't know.

I do wish the GX7 had higher bitrates but having said that, I've never really had any problems grading. The codec is very maleable. The GH3 on the other hand, not only does not have focus peaking but its LCD and viewfinder are both so low resolution that I found it difficult to achieve focus even with a magnifier. Also the GH3 has noticeably more noise, starting at ISO 800.

You can't buy experience you have to earn it...I've been doing this for 25 years now and seen all sorts of cameras and styles come and go .
All the stuff I learnt shooting Super 16 in the early days and 4 perf 35mm carries forward to all these digital cameras.
Lighting and lenses are the two most important factors - very often over looked by people on here .

Learn to light thats the key to it all.

I don't disrespect them. Well actually I do - threatening bloggers like Bloom and Reid with lawsuits left-right-and-centre for daring to voice a few negative opinions about their cameras is no way to earn respect from the public. But above I was just talking about my personal preference. I'm just not into anything about RED: I don't like the way their cameras look, I don't like their branding or media image, I don't like the Cult of Red, and though there's nothing "wrong" with the image from the Epic I've never been particularly taken with anything I've seen.

I certainly wasn't talking about/comparing anything to the 5D3's h264 image at all, anywhere. I happen to quite like it for certain subjects, but I was talking specifically and exclusively about ML RAW above.
