    Yeah, sort of anyway.
Again, it is all relative as the S5 is still heavier than some other FF cameras WITH a lens.
It is not so heavy (or large in dimension) that i would baulk at taking it though.

The s5 is low weight though, which is the reason I picked it over the s1h.

Purchased a Velbon monopod. This is the most fun monopod I’ve ever had…if you can say monopods are fun. It goes from fitting in my pocket to full length in seconds. I’m 6’1” and my camera is right at eye level.

Fun for me is low light shooting and especially light projections (as well as live music gigs but not so many of those lately.
I also like shooting people (portraits) but do not get to do that enough.

This is the Australian National portrait gallery.
They are going to use some of my shots....
Maybe it will be a very slight "in" for me (but I doubt it).....Before I die I would love to have a portrait in the gallery...Probably never going to happen though.

My 20-60mm is gathering dust after using it once while I waited for the EF adapter. It was just too slow for me on the long end. If I ever switch to L mount lenses the 20mm end might be interested as long as its daylight.

I thought the exact same thing when I read it. I really like 24mm on the wide end and I also really like F1.4 when there is no light or I'm shooting detail shots; so this lens is interesting but falls right outside of what I need both in speed and in FOV. Right now my favorite 3 lenses on my S5 are the Canon EF 24mm F2.8, the Canon 24-105mm F4.0 L, and the Sigma EF 50mm F1.4 prime. A lens like this almost replaces all of them....but falls short of each of them in some way. Now a 24-105mm F1.4 would absolutely replace all of them (I'd even take a 24-70 F2.0)....but it would then be way too big and heavy for gimbal work so back to square one.

    The 20-60 is a gem.
OK, it doesn’t have the uber shallow DOF that say an f2 or faster does, but compared with an f2.8...at the wider end at least, there is not that much difference.
In lower light at the longer end, 60mm f5.6 vs 70mm f2.8 it’s a lot more noticeable.
But in decent light and/or at the wider end, it’s a great bit of kit for the price.
    I’d have both!

Yeah, they're kind of gimmicky, and I guess Oly wouldn't want the pixel peepers buying them thinking they're "real" lenses and then trashing them online.  Expectation management I guess.
Canon did the same thing with the XC10 - when it launched it was on their website in the cinema camera section but very quickly it moved to some other random section.
That makes sense, both the 15 being more common and also the simpler construction making it cheaper.  It's a 30mm equivalent FOV, so much closer to the focal lengths that are easier to design and build, like a nifty fifty etc.
Wider lenses seem to be far less common, and if you go deep into C-Mounts and coverage the difficulty was always at the wide end.  Lots of cine zooms by the big names that were 50-250+ or other ridiculous lengths, and just leave me wondering why they didn't go for a more 24-70 type range that covers the middle ground, but wider lenses are more difficult and expensive to make and correct all the issues etc.
Why only those lenses?  Are you just thinking that lenses longer than 25mm won't be well stabilised, or is it a weight issue?  Maybe some of the newer Chinese lenses might be light enough from being cheaper plastic construction?  Or maybe they protrude too much to balance?

Actually ended up buying the olympus 12mm f2. Gave it a bit of a test  run in the shop, poked it out the window took a few shots. Looking forward to picking it up in a week or two. I think it weighs about 130 grams so still inside the weight constraints.

I've been shooting weddings for 20 years now.
21 technically, but last year doesn't really count with 1/25, but...
For the last 10 years or so, in hybrid format.
Initially more like 100% photography + 10% video for the first year.
Then 100% photo + 20% video the second.
100% photo + 30% video the third. You get the picture...
Each year, I have played with different kit and at one point I was operating 7 cameras on my own. Madness!
After the above, I had a word with myself and went back to the less is more approach with only one blip in 2019 when I bought a pair of DJI Pockets but that only confirmed that less is more and sold them.
I replaced both with the DJI Action, but I then found myself using it for the sake of using it because I felt I had to so sold that.
I'm now fixed on just 2 bodies, 2 zooms and a couple of primes to do everything plus my Sony ZV1 as a general backup piece of kit in my bag other than for ceremony & speeches where it will be rolling at a different angle, never intending to be used, but providing a worst case scenario safety net of video and audio.
The result of all this is it means I enjoy what I am doing much more because beyond a point, kit just gets in the way.

Interesting write-up and I completely agree with your ethos of less being more, as long as the footage is good enough.
Depending on the situation I have different levels of tolerance for how big (and therefore how intrusive) the camera can be.  I've used everything from a naked GoPro to my various DSLR + Rode VMP sized rigs, and less is absolutely more.
I've been tossing things up lately about getting a third Go Shoot camera to compliment the SJ4000 action camera and GF3 + 15/8 lens cap combos.  The driving force is that the SJ4000 30p footage looks so thin you need those butchers chainlink gloves to edit it, and the GF3 footage is 25p and nicer but still not that great and the camera isn't easy to use with basically no controls in video at all and no focus assists or anything.
But anything that is bigger than the GF3 better be absolutely killing it in the IQ department to justify its size, but I've had some ideas so watch this space.
Yeah, I'm with you.  I alluded above to being willing to sacrifice a little size for a huge bump in IQ and have some plans.
I know that when I get the 10-bit footage from the GH5 into Resolve it's just a dream to edit and all my frustrations with camera whatevers all go away and I forget that RAW or 6K or 8K or 14 stops of DR or whatever even exists.  Beautiful tools are beautiful to use throughout the whole production and post-production process.
No vignetting for me either...  a few test shots converted from RAW 4000x3000 stills:

It's really quite a modern lens, with high contrast and flare resistance, and while it isn't tack sharp, it's probably sharper than the 100Mbps bitrate of the average 4K codec.
I'm seeing a blur of about 2 pixels on the RAW 4K images, and most lenses don't get much sharper than that, especially for the USD$47 this cost me, brand new:

i confess up front i like flowers...
m10 mark ii with the 15mm body cap lens between wind gusts this afternoon. I thought the 15mm did pretty well. i have the focus peaking set to the fn3 button. The 15mm has a little lever that allows for some control between 300mm and infinity combined with the peaking on the olympus, it allows for a small measure of control. Apart from resizing the jpegs are straight from the camera.
not much vignetting either i think maybe noone was full frame ?

I personally kinda feel its getting a bit trollish to drag comments/ jokes from one thread to another unrelated thread. I'm sure no real intent was meant. But like workplace accidents,  jokes can go horribly wrong pretty quick as well.
Its usually me thats ringing for the ambo's. I'm all for safety, but the issue can be getting other people to think in the first place.
getting back on topic i have a couple of photos with the gimbal and 15mm olympus body cap lens, cant quite get the olympus and the 15mm lens far enough forward to balance properly, however i can get it to balance with the takumar 24mm and a light adapter. I'd take some footage but its horribly windy here today.

Interesting - a good amount of vignetting on MFT sized sensor readout.  All I can say to that is...  EXCELLENT!
I may end up slightly compensating for that in post, but maybe not.  We'll see.  In theory, mine arrives tomorrow 🙂
What was it about the RX100V that you most enjoyed?
How is the ZV1 as a replacement?
Do you mean modifying a GoPro?  with something like a backbone mod?
I was looking for c-mount lenses and came upon this which I thought was an interesting concept: https://cmount.com/product/c-mount-modified-sony-rx0-3-lens-atomos-shogun-inferno-4k-recorder-package/

My funnest camera was probably my Sony RX100V.
I missed that little pocket rocket so much I bought a ZV1 a few months back to both replace it and to be my backup.
If times were better, I would have liked to have played with a latest spec GoPro with some longer lenses.

I am dull enough to get my fun through utility though so it works on both levels for me.
I've decided that the German word for people who get their fun through the misfortune of others who have over tightened their glass balcony clamps and caused the destruction of said glass balcony should be "Shardenfreude".

I worked out that I have three different purposes for cameras: my family trips / events, camera testing and learning, and Go-Shoot.
Go-Shoot is the most fun one, and I'm wondering why, but I suspect it has to do with the fact that nothing is at stake.  The event isn't significant enough for there to be any consequences if I botch the whole thing and there's no edit, or even any footage at all.
Thinking about the psychology of it, is there's something at stake then the mood changes and you have to "stop horsing around" and "let me concentrate on this" and "it's time to get serious now" etc...  Obviously on projects you can be having fun in-between shots when the pressure is off, but you'd have to be pretty darn skilled to be super-relaxed while also nailing the shot.
I think it's when you can do whatever you want that it becomes fun, like in Austin Powers...

i have the 15mm f8 oly on my new e-m10 mark two, if i could find the 9mm bodycap lens at a reasonable price i'd probably buy it too. i'd hesitate to call it my sharpest lens but it does ok. For a go shoot project its probably ideal.
I did lash out today and layby a 12mm f2  olympus lens which will be the most modern lens in my bag of lenses. Took the camera on a 4  hour round trip to the big smoke and tried the lens in store. it should work well with the mark 2 on the little crane m2 gimbal.
Not the most fun thing perhaps but i am enjoying the little m2 gimbal i bought. i can throw either the s20 smart phone on it or the gopro or Olympus e-m10 mark ii with a lens 300 grams or less on it. that covers all my bases except for the bm p4k.
Lets face it, while not everyone is a fan of the floaty look of gimbals, anything that reduces the cloverfield look of anything i shoot is a good thing, and compared to a millers tripod quite a bit more affordable at the moment.

I've ordered the Olympus 15/8 lens-cap-lens to put on my GF3 as a larger (and better quality) rig for my "go-shoot" project.
My Go-Shoot project is the inspiration for pushing forwards with the action camera setup, and is basically to get out of the house, film something, edit it, and publish it, just to do little experiments and to get more practice with editing and develop my editing style more.
I'm really looking forward to the Oly 15/8 and GF3 combo, because the GF3 doesn't have manual controls in video mode and the 15/8 is by far the smallest manual lens around, which will give me MF and take away aperture control from the camera.

I actually would not mind using an original A7 to shoot greyhounds racing!
I USED to shoot greyhounds with a Pentax DSLR with several photos published in a national (Australian) greyhound racing paper (at the time one of the largest circulation greyhound racing papers in the world).     Even the first A7 had better AF than the old Pentax DSLRs I used.
I never did use the A7 for that though but it would be ok for me.
Yes of course there are better cameras for that (lots of them).
In good light, the first A7 takes quite nice photos with still competitive DR (still better than many even current FF cameras at ISO 100 and still better than almost every smaller sensor camera.
If someone just wants a FF camera to take good light photos in good weather it is still a nice choice.     Once you start adding OTHER requirements, not so muchnow.
