I was using Nikon dslrs and some Canons until now, I prefered the overall image quality that the Nikons gave me, but now that I use the a6000 for a few weeks , I can say for sure that the chromatic and overall image quality is great, and it looks better to me than Nikon. It's very close though, but with all the extras that Nikon doesn't give in it's firmware , and the light body of a6000, for me the clear winner in video is Sony. And yes I'll keep using both. ;)

Ι would recommend it my friend over the 70D , it has a better sensor, that gives you better image quality, wider dynamic range, and better overall iso performance! It has a great autofocus system, very fast very precise, and a much lighter body to use for your everyday walks! For video it's better too, it gives you better image quality, more organic feel to it, and less to none moire issues (The Canons have problem on this, the XXXD -XXD line) . So I would prefer it overall.

Guy who graded these in 3 minutes is here: http://www.mkgraphy.net

Lens is a Samyang 85mm T1.5. Very happy with the result- looks like a decent still image :)

I'm not saying it's not there, but it's not visible unless you pause the video and specifically go looking for problems. Those water fountain grilles had the worst aliasing and moire out of all 55 or so videos I shot on the NEX5N. The fact that I can't see any in shots of the same grilles in the A6000 footage tells me it's no longer a problem I ever have to worry about. Not in those shots, the shot with the fine line brick wall after it, or even in the grilles of the fan on the footpath in another later shot. If I play the Cineform master file and pause it, yes, I can see some really tiny stair stepping around the water fountains with excessive motion, but those are obviously AVCHD artifacts. And I really had to look closely and put my eye up to the screen to see them!

Detail isn't everything. I get clients asking me to smooth out their skin, and that's after I've used Neat Video.

Andrew, I've seen a number of your videos with video like overexposed shots. But if that's the look you're after, no problem there. For a lot of us though, avoiding shots like that would be a lot more important than the difference in detail between an A6000, GX7, 5D mk3, etc. And some of us may wonder why Philip Bloom with his collection of expensive cameras would over sharpen his cat? Of course maybe it's the cat who prefers looking a bit sharper than the average feline?

It's all personal preference. So it's good for the Panasonic fans to know their cameras have more detail, even if they have to use an adapter for that APSC Super 35 look. And for those of us with a Sony, rather than worrying about having less detail than the Panasonic cameras, we can be happy about getting a full frame look from one of those adapters.

Or better yet, shoot, edit, and ignore all this nonsense :)

Hey everyone! I just wanted to say before I picked up the A6000 I was really in the market for the D5300 being that I had the D5200 and wanted to upgrade do to the improvements. So one day I walked in the camera store with every intention on buying a D5300 and just happen to inquire when the A6000 would be in-stock, to my surprise they had it in, this was way before the projected release date. I asked to play with it a bit, long story short I left the store with the A6000.

I very much liked the images out of the D5200 with no real complaints other than the FPN in the shadows and the aperture issue. I had no intentions on changing brands but when I put the little thing in my hand I just fell in lust, the form factor, the features and the rumored video quality basically made me buy a camera that was on my radar but not a definite purchase in my mind. After I got home I wondered had I made the right decision and even thought about taking it back but in the end I kept the A6000 and have no regrets.

I feel the negatives of the A6000 are maybe the absence of a mic input and the codec but other great features tend to make you not care so much about them, personally I haven't ran into a issue with either thus far. I think the big thing with this camera is dialing the in-camera settings far as picture profile to a good starting point, considering you plan on grading your footage. A lot of sample footage I have seen online really doesn't do the camera justice, too much sharpening and other degrading factors in my humble opinion. In the right hands and when people really get to know the A6000 I feel some great images will be produced with it. Sorry for the long drawn out post.

I think the A6000 is more than perfect for what I will use it for,1 to 2 minute properly lit scenes. I personally haven't seen the codec break down to a unusable degree yet, mainly because I keep in mind the weak areas of the camera. I have a GH2 and I enjoy the images out the A6000 just as much,it's not that it resolves better but its images have a certain texture and feel to them. At this point I'm just trying to figure out the best combination of settings to get a desired result. On this specific footage I shot for almost 2 hours nonstop,1 to 2 minute clips every couple of seconds with no overheating. I like this camera a lot.

I've had a chance to test the a6000 in extremely hot tempratures to see how the camera behaves. The ambient temprature is 38-42 C (100-105 F) , and hot air is flowing to the backplate of the camera. The screen is flipped out, an the clips we've written are in 1080p 60fps.The memory card used is a Sandisk Extreme 45MB/s.  As you can see the first take was 22:38 minutes long until shut down.We did a quick restart and the second take lasted 15:49 minutes.Again after a quick restart we were able to record 2:26min.Then we left the camera to rest for 10 minutes and started a last take before the battery drained, and it managed to write a full clip of 29:50 minutes. All in the same hot tempratures. In conclusion the problems seems to occur in very hot temps and in unexpected durations of video writing. I've touched the backplate of the sensor and it wasn't very hot. So it seems more of a firmware problem!!! I'll put another test in lower tempratures, where the problem doesn't occur.   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3E-xJ_5Q9JY

yea I did some testing today and I could not get it to over heat in the hot sun,I also let it run three 29 minute cycles and it didn't over heat, but that was at room temperature..I have to do more testing but I'm loving this little camera.
