Cinegain reacted to IronFilm in Best hybrid camera under 1000€
The best sub $1K hybrid camera for filming is:
a) if you can live without IBIS, the Fujifilm X-T3 secondhand
b) if you love IBIS, the Panasonic G9 (it's been on sale for sub $1K brand new) or a secondhand Panasonic GH5

Cinegain reacted to Andrew Reid in How to receive a BAFTA as ungraciously as possible
I don't think many white men feel the so called privilege.
Which is why we end up with protest votes at election time.
The whole political correct thing doesn't connect with ordinary people.
Politics is obsessed with skin colour, not the gaffer on a film set who just happens to be born in a country where white people are a majority.
Why should he feel ashamed just for being part of an industry?
I don't think anybody who works in the film industry should be shamed into believing they are part of an institutionally racist conspiracy.
Some of the most incredible countries in the world are monocultural. Japan is about as close to a monocultural society as it gets and where is no shame in it. In fact Japan is arguably all the more unique and special for it. Are we suggesting Japan should now be reduced to 40% to 50% native Japanese people, in order to represent a greater number of skin colours and cultures? No.
Discrimination against majorities is as wrong as discrimination against minorities.
This constant shaming of talented hard working creative people for being white males has gotta stop.

Cinegain reacted to BTM_Pix in Launch Announcement - PBC Pocket Remote For Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Cameras
Heartfelt thanks to everyone on here who backed the First Wave release of the PBC and please click the link to download some light reading ahead of your units being dispatched over the next few days.
https://tinyurl.com/PBC-USER-GUIDE
The fact that this single screen application with two buttons has ended up with enough functionality for a fifteen page manual is testament to how something that started out as a record start/stop controller ended up getting waaaayyy out of hand

Cinegain reacted to Video Hummus in Camera owning plans 2020
I’m buying that EOS R5! Oh, someone pinched me...I’m back in the reality.
Im just going to keep my GH5S and hope for a late 2020 announcement of a GH6, perhaps the last MFT camera from Panasonic. Should be good for the next 3 years 🙃

Cinegain got a reaction from Adam Kuźniar in The GH5 isn’t a Cinema Camera
Gotta be controversial here and say some of the scenes don't blend very well. One looks like a million bucks big screen type of stuff, the other more of a small YouTube webseries video vibe. Though more than anything, I think post-production has made it stand out and make it still stick together. Fine grading. Let's not forget about sound design, that was bloody brilliant. Everyone can go out and get a GH5. It's those who master the things beyond the camera where the difference is really being made and where there's so much potential to still grow for me personally.

Cinegain reacted to BTM_Pix in Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K
Maybe she is using one of those fiendish pocket size remote controls for it that give her full control of all the camera's functions?
I understand that they begin shipping next Friday.

Cinegain reacted to Mako Sports in The GH5 isn’t a Cinema Camera
I've said it time and time again. Lens and lighting make shit look Hollywood, camera choice is basically just the film stock.

Cinegain reacted to Andrew Reid in How is this funded? Mega rich YouTubers
Seems like the surveys vary depending on who you ask.
One British newspaper is saying they all want to be evil YouTubers (Daily Mail and The Sun)
And another is saying they all still want to be doctors, and teachers, same as 20 years ago (The Times)
Here is another one I found which contradicts itself in the space of one page, which is quite impressive.
https://www.fatherly.com/love-money/work-money/the-2017-imagination-report-what-kids-want-to-be-when-they-grow-up/
So they all watch YouTube and end up wanting to be vets?
Damn cat videos everywhere.

Cinegain reacted to MurtlandPhoto in Black Magic Pocket OG 2019
I used my P4K and OG Pocket together over the weekend. I used the Super Scale feature in Resolve to bring the OG's footage up to 4K. It's not quite as detailed, but can easily intercut with true 4K stuff in the eyes of the client. Very happy with the results.

Cinegain got a reaction from kaylee in Carpool video advice
Are you that adamant on wireless monitoring?
I'm quite into cars so I follow some automotive journalists if you will in the form of these 'cartubers'. Tim 'Shmee150' Burton for example mounts Sony FDR-X3000 action cams (with BOSS) in- and outside the car. So... that's the sorta thing I would do.
The smaller the camera and the wider field of view the lens has got, the easier the rigging of course. So... Sony FDR-X3000... GoPro, Blackmagic Pocket or Micro or any other MFT camera perhaps (broadcast shows like Top Gear and The Grand Tour use Panasonic GH-range cameras most of the times). Set up your cameras, have a look at how they're pointing, hit record, fetch the recordings after the drive and put it all together. Have a trial run beforehand to make sure every occupant is clearly visible and audible.

Cinegain reacted to andrgl in Why is the Sigma 18-35 f1.8 still not surpassed?
@Video Hummus The Laowa Argus lenses will be primes.
@Stab There are a few longer S35 zoom lenses:
Sigma High-Speed 50-100mm T2 Angenieux EZ-2 15-40mm T2 Angenieux EZ-1 30-90mm T2 Fujinon Premier 14.5-45mm T2 Fujinon Premier 18-85mm T2
Better off using a focal reducer with a full frame f/2.8 zoom lens.
You get almost equivalent depth of field, longer zoom ranges, many options and much lower costs.

You can also use a 360 VR cam...
Full thing: here btw (campaign is long over, but info can be found here). That's like the only VR 360 application I actually thought was a promising format. I could imagine a 'who dunit?' crime video/game, where you have to pay attention and catch clues of who killed who and schtuff. Otherwise I never found implenations of VR that interesting.

Or colour blind cameras for that matter!

Cinegain got a reaction from cam1982 in Sirui anamorphic
haha, I figured. A little bit more regarding the P1:
Seems pretty stable and all. Just the motion/transition in movements seems a bit robotic on/off, rather than organic. But I believe he said he had the same feedback and that they were trying to see to address that with firmware.
Btw. Is it me or does it seem like Sirui's been sending gear to try to relatively small channels? A bunch under 2k subs, this particular dude 67:
