My opinion is that Panasonic colors are accurate and close to what an eye sees. Usually no need to add red. Canon colors are too sweet and warm and little unrealistic.

Vesku got a reaction from Cary Knoop in Panasonic G85 review - is there any need to get an Olympus E-M1 Mark II for video?
G85 has more NR in high iso than GH4. With good post processing the GH4 high iso video may be close to G85. Here is example of processed GH4 EOSHD review image vs original G85 image.

If using iso200, Natural contrast -5 and idynamic low the GH4 dark bars would be much more visible. Iso200 is GH4 native iso! Iso400 is blurred by NR.
I wonder why there is a soft flare around the brightest bar in G85. Is the lens same as in GH4?

Why use AWB with EOS PRO COLOR? Usually people say it is a stupid idea to use AWB.

I like the Panasonic AWB too. It is very reliable and changes slowly or not at all during a clip.

Does this LUT do additional auto white balancing? Why recommend AWB in camera because most user says AWB makes wrong choices for image? AWB changes also color during a clip. On the other hand I like Panasonic AWB.

It would be nice to shift focus slowly different speeds by pressing FN-buttons.

GH5 3.7 million dots EVF would be very helpful for seeing focus.

How does this LUT handle videos with different levels? The highlight recovery is obviously done by digging super whites 235-255. What if the video is recorded with 16-235 and no super whites. Many Panasonic cameras records 16-255. What if the video file is 0-255? Is there some automatic level conversion?

Pros: "Very much improved image quality compared to the GH4...."
GH4 has better dynamic range, less moire and less rolling shutter. I think the the only real improvement is less noise in high iso and that is partly made by softening details.

I made comparison image GH4 vs GX85 dyn range from your clips. GH4 has more info in highlights.
    Both iso400. GH4 Natural and GX85 Natural+idynamic standard. GH4 is still flatter.

4k photo has different NR than normal video. At least in my GH4.
4k photo has less NR in high iso which may be good if using post NR. The noise is not "ruined" with less sophisticated camera NR.

I see the HDR is too new for most.
I think most wifes can see the difference between SDR and HDR.

This topic is about video exposure. Auto exposure, manual exposure, ND-filters, exposure tips, exposure tools, different exposing styles and looks, old rules and new ways, etc.
Not about favorite lenses or audio or only for very talented film makers.

In my tests with GH4 and Natural profile I have not found any quality differences between contrast -5 and contrast 0. The banding, noise and cleannes is about the same. -5 has lighter or flatter image (more what eye sees) but otherwise the quality is the same. Choose the look you prefer.
P.S. Both has banding in skies and fine gradations. I use deband filter to remove that banding.

Dont quit. I have red your writings with great interest. I will buy a HDR TV sooner or later and I want to make HDR videos and photos. We can together think what is the best and reasonable workflow for us consumers. I think it needs a better camera than current consumer models. 10bit HEVC is also kind of tricky with current editors and computers. We need also a new 10bit or better photo standard. 16bit TIF is an overkill.

Vesku got a reaction from Mat Mayer in Will M43 get sharper or has it peaked?
I think GH5 will have quite similar sharpness than Sony A6500. 4k 60P, less RS and 10bit will give even much more value.

I have used a deband filter in Potplayer while playing my videos. It removes my iso200 GH4 sky banding and noise almost completely and the result is "full frame clean". It works very well also when I stream Youtube videos through Potplayer. It makes blocky low bitrate videos quite clean.

My VA-panel TV dims and fades contrast and colors when viewing at close distance. The uniformity of the panel is not good either (2 photos of AX800). It was Panasonic top 4k model 2014 and very expensive (about 5000$). Movies and videos looks still very good. My IPS monitor has perfect viewing angles and uniformity but lower contrast.

I started to wonder the idynamic and I made some tests again. Idynamic adds noise to darks and should be used with care. It is best when wanting the lighter result unedited.
