After you make a sale immediately disconnect your banking info from ebay...never leave it connected perpetually.

They simply cannot be trusted. I was told one thing by their customer support, then the opposite and never any consistency in the way the cases were handled. It feels like you are being kicked in the head by several people at once including the buyers.
Then there's the uncertainty. If you have a successful sale but some idiot comes back after nearly 1 month to get his refund, what do you do? Do you suddenly have to find a spare £3000 for the refund out of the blue all that time after? What will the state of the valuable be in when it comes back to you? Will it even arrive back with you? Will eBay refund them anyway without them even sending it?
eBay can even directly debit my bank account.
I am thinking of phoning my bank's fraud department and having them block all future payments to eBay and PayPal.

Oh my. I've been a happy eBay buyer for hundreds of items, and I've been surprised by how good service I've been getting from 99% of the sellers. This post clearly shows that I wouldn't want to be in their shoes.
Fortunately my local classified ads have been working great for selling my gear with in-person delivery, and I will continue using that so that I'll never have to deal with something like this.

It's hard to say it's gone wrong. It's so-called creative destruction. There's simply no need for a mass consumer camera market any more. Every home used to have a camera, be it a compact, a SLR, a Polaroid or whatever. No-one needs those any more because everybody (even the children) has a phone that will take better snaps with fewer skills, in a format that allows instant sharing.

William Koehler reacted to noone in Will Canon & Nikon leaving the DSLR market boost Pentax?
I will always have a soft spot for Pentax but they are history and toast.
Ricoh saved it as a brand from total oblivion and Ricoh is a big enough company that it can exist as a pimple on the arse as long as it does not lose too much money.
I have had a M42 Spotmatic SLR (still have it and a K mount film camera actually) a couple of other film K mount cameras, an IST*D, K100D and Kx DSLRs and a Pentax Q and loved them all....Thing is that my little Sony RX100 iv is probably better than all of them.
The K100D and the Q both died prematurely probably because I over stressed the IBIS.
The Q was a lot of fun and if I came across a cheap one I would buy it in a heartbeat (but not particularly looking).
Do not forget, Pentax tried the mirrorless APSC route with the K-01 in 2012 but that used the K mount so was very niche in a brand that had already become very niche in itself so maybe 1% of a brand that had about 5% of the market at the time and has gone backwards..
I would only buy another DSLR IF it was cheap enough, FF and Canon and just to use my existing Canon mount EF AF lenses.
The only Pentax I would consider is that cheap Q if it hit me in the face in the likes of a pawn shop or charity shop.
The Pentax 1.7x AF adapter was worth the price of entry to K mount (probably still is for some people).

I doubt Pentax will survive. Ricoh could probably justify (in a Japanese sort of way) keeping the business open while its core business was doing well. But now that its office equipment business has collapsed (and is likely to be difficult for several years) the camera business just becomes an obvious cost saving item.
I am not sure Canon and Nikon moving their focus to mirrorless really helps Pentax. You now just find that you can pick up Canon and Nikon DSLRs (and to some extent dslr lenses) dirt cheap, so there is no real advantage to moving or choosing Pentax.
My feeling is that Pentax's lack of move into mirrorless is a sign of weakness (Ricoh not committing to the investment) rather than a core strategic decision. (A bit like Olympus's decision not to join the L mount but stick to M43.)

    Trump 2020.
Democrats don't even talk policy anymore. They've now debased themselves in to trying cheap tactics to impeach him. Even Obama is telling the progressive party to chill out with the cancel culture woke lexicon. What happened? How did conservatives become the cool* counter culture?

I am not American, and I think Trump says the strangest things. But, he is arguably the most successful US president of all time. I may not be a Trump fan, but I prefer him over both the Clintons, Obama and many others. Obama getting the Nobel for farting in his dreams was way more shady than anything else. EVER.
The US has been heading for a financial collapse for the last few years (since the Dollar Store and Wallmark rise). Now China is literally taking away millions of US jobs and Fortune 500 is inundated with Chinese Companies. Apple would have been relegated to 4th or 5th position in smartphone sales, if the US wasnt doing all the shady stuff it is (to be fair, US Trade and IP Laws have been anything but fair since they were created). Also TikTok and other chinese tech startups are going to be displacing Twitter and Facebook (even though it doesn't do similar things to either) very soon. That's why Google is planning a TikTok ban soon (if it hadn't already).
Europe and the US are heading for both economic and cultural collapse. The only question, I guess, is how quickly.

Even if the licencing fees argument were true, it would actually make Canon look worse, not better. Because if Pentax, who have a far smaller share of the market and whose video quality has consistently been an absolute joke since the day they added it, are willing to shell out the fees to enable their DSLRs to support 24p, what possible excuse could Canon have for not doing the same?

But can the SD cards handle the 6K Prores RAW data rate at the frame rate of your choice?
Also, I wouldn't expect to see Prores RAW on any camera (Nikon) or third party recorder (Atomos) until after the two Apple petitions to the US Patent Office about REDs' RAW patent legitimacy are resolved.

William Koehler reacted to Eno in Hey Nikon - Where's the Z6 ProRes RAW Update?
    @Andrew Reid, some little observations:
The write speed on the Z6 on the card is 240 MB/sec max and not 500 MB/sec as you imply: https://www.cameramemoryspeed.com/nikon-z6/fastest-xqd-cards/
The Z6 camera is now listed at BH at $1,796.95 instead or the $1,996.95 original price: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1431706-REG/nikon_1595_z6_mirrorless_digital_camera.html?sts=pi&pim=Y
I see no 30-40% reduction of the original price.
The lenses cost the same as on launch day:

    In short:
A: They are all actually great at something
B: But none of them great at everything
And the answer is there never will be because in the near future someone will be criticizing the crop on the 12k 120p or the fact that Camera X only has 17 stops of IBIS compared with Camera Y. Etc.
Or just go out and use what is currently best for you and enjoy it. Which everyone knows is the Fuji XT3. Despite no IBIS. And it’s not FF. But APART from that... ?

    Sony monopoly danger? Maybe
Do this market just needs to slow down?
Do we need to look at what we have from 2012 and realize it's good enough?
Do we have to sit back and watch the rise of smartphone cameras?
For now, I'm going to stick with my m43 gear. It's more than good enough, cheaper, lighter and gives me a really different aesthetic.

    It's not that simple dummy.
I won't bother repeating what I wrote in the article a second time. It was clearly lost on you the first time.
You probably haven't got the talent to match music to images so you'll probably not understand what's at stake. Like freedom of speech there is such a thing of freedom of artistic expression, if I wanted to set some cinematography to a Pink Floyd track in the privacy of my own edit suite at home, and not release it, I am free to do that. So yes, pros do use copyrighted songs. It is when sharing the results with friends and followers where the problem is, because in order to do that in the age of the internet some form of 'publishing' has to happen and anyone can view it. You are not using it commercially, it's just for fun. Other pros have done it all the time, like Philip Bloom before the music bed, it's been very common and you Ben seem to ignore all the other issues and grey areas as well in an attempt to vote against your own artistic freedom out of some dumb attempt to simplify the subject down to either right or wrong, black or white. You are an 8bit binary thinker. You are worse than a GIF. If you were a codec, you'd be AVCHD.
I was recruited by the DJ Paul Van Dyk once and he wanted to use my footage over his music. Boot on the other foot. I said yes. If artists don't share, they don't create anything. Not everything has to be about money or paying for a license.

William Koehler reacted to Robert Collins in Samsung open to new camera system, joins forces with Fujifilm
Samsung returning to produce sensors for the camera manufacturers makes a lot of sense. I doubt the major brands enjoy being dependent on Sony (an increasingly aggressive competitor) and would 'prefer' to buy from an 'independent' manufacturer. In that respect Samsung returning to make cameras would actually be counterproductive because they would, like Sony, become a competitor rather than independent supplier.
Ultimately I think Sony's success in the camera business will come at a cost to their (camera) sensor business. I see a lot of the brands moving from Sony when they eventually get some decent competition either from Samsung, Tower Jazz or whoever.
