It's funny, you guys represent The Camera Store, and have an in-built bias, let alone reason to maintain a good relationship with Sony...

So the fact you are one of my most trusted reviewers speaks volumes to the hard work you put into your content, and by constantly being fair and consumer minded with your reviews, you have, despite those in-built percieved bias', always "been on my side" when it comes to making a purchase - the respect you get in the community is well earned, and long lasting because I have experienced enough products you have reviewed to know that you have always been absolutely upfront with a products shortcomings. Also, the fact you go through a products shortcomings without pouring vinegar on the product, which may work well for others who don't need that specific feature or can work around it makes you guys an absolute pleasure to watch!

OK, to keep confusion to minimum: The opening shots from 0:45 to 11:35 are all shot on the A7S II. The talking heads before and after that are shot on the original A7S.

This might not be an ideally shot and graded video, but we only had production model A7SIIs for the one night and a half hour in the morning. Editing was obviously hurried as cameras are shipping right now. While it may not be our best looking work, I tested everything pretty extensively to make sure all our findings were accurate.

I need to come up with a good hook for the Best and Worst of 2015. Expectations are high.

As mentioned in the video, the daytime shots were made with the original A7S. Only the nighttime stuff, slow motion, and SLog 3 examples were shot on the A7S II.
Dynamic range certainly looks improved, but that's mostly due to the SLog3 implementation I think.

Indeed! I really like the atmosphere here, and many of the users like Ed and Mattias have taught me a lot. Sometimes I wish the forums were better organized--Panasonic and Blackmagic have subforums almost no one uses, and nothing for Sony or Samsung--but that also keeps the "trending topics" up front and fresh for anyone who visits. 

Thank you to everyone who makes this forum a wonderful place. Who answers ignorance with friendly information. Who responds to attacks by showing their results and staying out of the dogfights. Who go out of their way to help induct people into what can be an incredibly intimidating field. From the bottom of my heart, thank you all for being here.

Used my old 2013 BMCC Teal/Orange LUT for this.

​I hate to say it, but I've agreed not to share any V-Log L files while I'm testing. I think the screencap below is your best bet at seeing how the files respond to your workflow.

Playing with V-Log L a bit more, I've found that it responds wonderfully to Alexa LUTs. This is great, since I won't have to wait months for V-Log L LUTs to become available for the shoots where I don't have time to manually grade (also, I'm not a great colorist by any means!)
