    AIVASCOPE 1.5x anamorphic lens, 2nd hands-on GH4
    after this two tests :
    vimeo.com/341289409
    vimeo.com/342429735
this is my third film test with the new Aivascope 1.5x anamorphic lens on my Panasonic GH4.
It’s a very sharp lens working great with some of my primes. It’s a single focus lens (you do the focus on it and let the prime on infinity)
In this 3rd movie you will see different shots done with (aperture wide open) :
    GH4 4K uhd (no CC) 24p + Aivascope 1.5x anamorphic lens
    Primes : Pentax-m 40mm pancake f2.8 at f2.8
    (most of the time) Pentax-m 40mm + 2x vintage Telemore95 II at f2.8
Sicor-XL MC 28mm f2.8 at f2.8 Despite the fact the Pentax-m 40mm is less wider than the others, I like the result with it. The TELEMORE95 II 2x lens converter (bought 3€ on a flea market) does missed sharpness to the 40mm from Pentax (and the Aivascope), and I loose maybe 2 stops with it.
I’ve used a Dorr variable ND lens, on the GH4 the picture mode is on « portrait » with slight ajustments.
I did no color corrections at all.
    Thanks for watching.
Heres is the characteristics of the Aivascope 1.5x lens :
Designed for Full Frame systems. Recommended taking lenses for full frame (16:9 aspect ratio) from 50mm to 90mm Single focus From 80cm to infinity. Non rotating front element. Focus ring rotate 190 degrees. Lens mounting clamp 52mm Filter size 82mm Weight 700 gr. Integrated focus gear.

It ends up being around a 35mm field of view (which is insane!)
    50mm x 1.9crop = 95mm fov
    95mm x .64speedbooster = 60.8mm fov
    60.8mm / 1.75x anamorphic = 34.7mm fov

hey yeah! Still waiting for some gear and the project I am working on with this setup doesn't start production till late March or so.  But here's some stills from test footage in the meantime.  I am going to be using the Nikkor 50 1.8 and the 85 f2 as taking lenses together with an XL .64 Metabones...also waiting to receive a V1 Aivascope which I will use in some shots for flaring.  The V2 does not flare unless you really blast it with something.  I ended up with a ProtoDNA thanks to the wonderful advice from JSD and it's awesome.  I am just now opening a box with the Titla G2X and Nucleus Nano.  Will get her all balanced up and report back with some pics!  Planning on mostly using one Pocket4K on sticks, another dedicated to the gimbal for tracking shots.

I had the original 1.33X (the big one) and on my Sony A7S (+2) it worked well with pretty much any 50mm I threw it on.  I had to close down though to at least f2.8 or f4 to get any workable sharpness.  Great adapter for easy of use.  I shot mostly with a DSO which is a Helios 44-2 and worked perfectly

Hey all! I just got my V2 Aivascope baby 1.75X lens and really excited to put it through its paces.  I know there are some excellent posts recently from JSD about this lens but just wanted to start a dedicated thread for anyone new looking, or if anyone wanted something specifically tested.
I'll be mainly using it on a BMPCC4K but will also be using on my A7S2, and possibly my BMPCC.  I'm still waiting for my Rapido FVD and presently without diopters so there's not much to test yet but hopefully everything arrives soon - in the meantime will try and collect everything I need to get shooting some sample footage

Did a quick test yesterday with my RX IV - quick question, is everyone keeping at 180 deg shutter even at the HFR rates...I ran out of light and had to shoot 360 last night and it seemed ok, will try proper testing in bright light to see the motion blur differences. Didn't have enough light for 1/480s (or whatever it is in the camera for 240fps) - also need to play with the profile settings, so far it grades just like my a7S - might just try PP1 with some minor changes.  Thnx for all the info guys great thread

I find that for 99% of situations S-Log on the a7s is pointless.  Particularly since most of us shooting with the a7s don't have the capabilities to post process a log profile effectively.

The creative styles are very powerful tools - particularly with the a7s since the dr is a lot greater than the same creative styles on most of the other sony/nex cameras.  you can actually pull down the highlights or pull up the shadows quite effectively if required, and get some of the apparently lost data back.

My personal favourite is the 'Neutral' creative style.  but with the sharpness and contrast dialed down to -3.  saturation left untouched.

granted there are some peaked reds, but since I was shooting at 16000iso for the majority, letting the camera do auto exposure (due to the fast paced workflow required), where 95% of the light was coming from neons and other nasty lights.  Very little grading was applied to the footage.

Some various shots using the awesome FF58 and other with a Voigt 50 1.5 (@2.8) together with the SLR Anamorphot.  Yes the low light ability is pretty insane on the camera, I wish I brought my Ninja Blade to record the footage though.  Hard to pack everything while on vacation since, you're supposed to be on vacation lol.  I hope there will be a 4:3 mode for 2X anamorphic on this camera one day...we can wish  :)

I just tried this out the other night and I like it a lot...rather have it on when it makes sense.  It doesn't make sense in a lot of applications because the lens is actually kind of heavy so it won't work well in places where you need the GoPro to be as light as possible (like it won't work with the DJI H3-2D, H3-3D on Phantom, etc.)  but for things like cars, etc. it's great.  Will try out on my helmet at the track on Wed.

kazkioken reacted to pierrepblais in Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera c-mount lens compatibility list
So I got my pocket this week and got myself some adaptors for my current lens kit (canon, nikon), and while at it I thought I'd throw in a c-mount adaptor so I can try out my trusty Bolex 16mm lens kit, my four lens weren't on this forums list so I thought I'd chip in with my results.

Overall I'd say I was pleasantly surprised by the result. Of my four lens only 1 turn out unusable, and I was quite pleased with the image quality I got from the other 3.

first the bad one: Som Berthiot Cinor 10mm f1.9, clear vignetting on the edges.

Next the Som Berthiot Cinor B 25mm f1.9, this one works well, a little soft but not altogether unpleasant... no vignetting.

I even went out that evening and shot some test footage exclusively with this lens!     Next is my Kern Paillard Yvar 75mm f2.8, this also works great, shapest of the bunch I think, but I always felt it was sharper even when shooting 16mm ( which I do often with these lenses).     Finally the zoom, a Som Berthiot Pan-Cinor 12-120mm f3.3, I love this lense, a real cine lens, very nice focus throw, extremely smooth, constant aperture... and it works! well almost... it works great from 20-120mm, anything below 20 shows vignetting. but the results are rather good, altough I think there might be some barrel distortion (see @40mm), which wasn't apparent on the other lenses...   here @ 12mm   @20mm   @40mm
    And @120mm
Conclusion: Maybe I'm crazy, or I'm just lucky to have good glass in a sea of crap, but I'm rather happy with these 16mm lenses on my Pocket. Mind you, I wouldn't have bought these lenses just for the pocket, I don't think 16mm glass is the way to go, even if you're on a budget, unless you really really want that 16mm look, which is what you'll get I'd say. I have these lenses first and foremost because I still use them often to shoot actual 16mm. To have them around also for the pocket is a nice bonus to bona fide my BMPCC kit, and coupling them with my full frame glass it gives me good options to shoot so that I don't have to rush out and buy some new glass right away... for sure I'm likely going to add a lumix zoom with OIS and probably an slrmagic or voigtlaender glass to that kit down the road, but with what I have I can wait a bit before I do that and that's great for my wallet!    Picture of the 3 working lenses with the BMPCC
