  1. Ian, if your taking lens accepts 52mm filters would the Aivascope just screw right in, no need for step up rings? Also, since you focus via the taking lens shouldn't autofocus work? I know you probably don't use autofocus, but the reason I ask is I'd be interested in using it for photography, not filmmaking. One final question. I know they recommend it for use with sensors no bigger than m43. Any idea how fast of an aperture you can use with m43 before the image is unusable? Wondering if f1.4 or f1.7 would be okay. No problem if you can't answer these questions, still appreciate you starting this thread.

  2. You guys are so negative. I think he's created something cool that I could not do, which he will probably improve upon. Give him some encouragement, not so much negativity!

Thank you Flynn, thank you jase. I also have very limited use with Voigtlander, I think it was 17.5mm I tried it with my OM-D back then. I can certainly relate to jase experience awesome unique image, somewhat heavy, expensive even in second hand store no AF ... still it's a consideration. This time I am really after unique filmic look and the tip about Tiffen filtres is well appreciated.

Adorama has the 75mm f1.8 and the 45mm f1.8 in a kit for $899. It includes carrying cases for each lens and lens hoods. They've also got the 20mm f1.7 for $267.99 and it includes a $25 gift card. You could finish up with the 30mm f1.4 for $339 (or $314 if you use the $25 gift card). Those 4 lenses new are only slightly more than the Panasonic 42.5 f1.2 by itself and would give you far more range. However, none of them are stabilized so you wouldn't get to take full advantage of the stabilization. The 42.5mm 1.2 is very nice but is also very expensive. Still, if you want just one lens that has autofocus and image stabilization, and you don't mind spending the money, it would be a good choice. I agree wit jon about primes being the way to go, especially since you said you want nice bokeh.

Very nice to see a new review Tito, always happy to get a notification of a new video of yours! On topic: as SLR Magic specifically markets this as a MFT/S35 solution, I wondered why you didn't use it as such (S35 mode on your A7S2)? I realize time is a scarce commodity, but this not-quite stellar FF performance perhaps leads us to criticizing the lens on a performance it was not intended for...

They mention it being used with full frame in their B & H listing.

"Please note that SLR Magic cautions that for full frame work a 75mm taking lens is required, a 50mm taking lens may only cover when your camera is in APS-C or S35/APS-C sensor mode. When using this adapter on a 25mm , the image will cover a Four Thirds sensor."

  5. nagual, Tiffen has some very informative vids showing tests with their filters. You might want to consider getting one if you want to cut down on the sharp video look. Also, you might want to look into the Veydra lenses. If it was me, I'd get the 17.5 and 42.5 Voigtlander. But you'll miss out on autofocus and these lenses are much heavier than the Panasonic/Olympus offerings.

    Thanks, guys!

Lots of people weren't fans of Image Quality, according to the comments on the review. I think it would be better on a smaller sensor. :)

I think you might be right about this looking better on a smaller sensor. I wish they could redesign their gigantic 2x and have one of those similar to this, in terms of size, cause this looks really convenient.

  7. I'd be worried you're not gonna like going from full frame to m43 and you won't like going from Canon to something else. I'm not all that crazy about "Canon colors" but a lot of Canon users are absolutely miserable when they move to something else. The move to a smaller sensor and the change in colors, it's a constant complaint you see on forums from Canon users. "I don't like what I'm seeing." I would hold onto the 6D and make sure the company you get the GH5 from has a liberal return policy.

I guess it's relative, but it definitely looks a lot bigger than the 25mm. Still seems to be fairly light though.

Think you might be looking at the wrong Sigma 30mm f1.4. There are two. The one for m43 and Sony E mount has the DN designation. I guess it is a bit bigger but it's not a big lens.

According to Adorama Panasonic is 7.05 ounces and 2.7"x2.1", Sigma is 9.3 ounces and 2.6"x2.9". I guess it is a bit bigger but nothing too crazy.
