  1. M43 needs something like that organic sensor that was mentioned years ago, something that will provide a dramatic improvement in dynamic range and iso. Not to say today's m43 sensors aren't decent, but when compared to the latest larger sensors, they're certainly lacking. Still, cameras are more than just a sensor and m43 is capable of stunning results.
  2. They need to throw everything they can in the GH5- make it as jaw dropping as possible. Most of the profits seem to be at the high end. For companies to survive, I think they need to offer something that appeals to those who are willing to spend the big bucks.
  3. The G8 is gonna be announced at Photokina and sounds like it'll be pretty nice. And the GH5 should be out in a matter months and has people very excited. I'd be patient. If you prefer an older model, should be some price drops after Photokina.
  4. This is just ridiculous in terms of quality. That's the thing about BM, they made it possible for people with not a lot of money to capture amazing footage. Still requires a lot of knowhow of course, but this is really inspiring.
  5. Anyone have the link for the chart that lists dozens of lenses?
  6. That is a fantastic promo clip to showcase the lens.
  7. I will be stunned if it doesn't have IBIS.

I suspect most people would much rather have a constant aperture and have it be something like f2.8 24-200. 2 lousy stops are huge, even with a 1" sensor. I do give you credit for being the first positive review of the camera I saw, when it seemed like everyone else was slamming it.

Come on Mattias, you're just trolling. You know that slow lens tended to be the first complaint people mentioned with it. Given how big it is, they should have done something like a constant f2.8. There is no way you're gonna convince me that wasn't possible. It was a joke that Canon constantly hyped that lens.
  10. There might be some truth to this. Recently I've been looking at a ton of Sony footage and actually prefer the colors. All this talk about the awful Sony colors and skin tones, I no longer agree. I don't know if Sony has improved or I've just been conditioned to accept it.

You were the first positive review I can recall seeing for it.
  12. Hey Tito, how do you pronounce your name? It sounds like to me you say "Tchituh Feddens, out".

If they reduce the lens to 24-100, surely they can do better than 1.8-4. I would guess they should be able to do something like a constant f2. The G7x is 24-100 and is 1.8-2.8 and the lens is tiny compared to the xc10.
  14. I wish they'd just focus on developing a killer new model of the BMPCC. To me, it looks like they've wasted a ton of time and money developing all these niche cameras when the one camera they have that sold reasonably well and has broad appeal is in dire need of a hardware update. One or two cameras for BM is more than enough. Keep it simple. They have spent a fortune developing all these other cameras. Just focus on improving the 4.6 and the BMPCC.
  15. This would be awesome to have.
  16. I don't speak French but raw to an atomos? Are we getting greedy? The GH5 would be back on top in terms of cameras with this form factor. I bet they will have improved upon the IBIS as well. Yes, I'm definitely getting greedy.
  17. I think it's much more useful with a touchscreen, like the new 5D. I seem to recall when the 80D was released, they said it was an improved version over what the 70D had.
  18. Look at this list of releases for 1979 and how many great/serious films are on it: The Deer Hunter Time After Time Norma Rae The China Syndrome Manhattan Alien The In-Laws Apocalypse Now The Onion Field Being There (perhaps the second greatest Peter Sellers film) Kramer vs Kramer The Great Santini I mean, even many of the popcorn flicks were legitimately great films that would stick with you long after the movie was over. Now? I just can't relate to the vast majority of what the studios are putting out. http://www.the-numbers.com/movies/year/1979
  19. News Shooter had the camera in hand and says it's 1.74. Maybe they're wrong in this instance, but I trust them far more than DP Review when it comes to video.
  20. I'm hoping the delay in announcing a replacement, if that rumor is true, is because they're adding some features that will turn heads and take back a bit of the thunder Sony seems to have stolen. News Shooter says the crop is 1.74 in the title of their article.
  21. I like Rock, though I don't watch his movies. But those movies are what the masses want to see. There have always been dumb studio movies, but it seems like most major releases are geared towards the Comic Con crowd now. If you look at a list of major releases from like 1978 or 1979, it's shocking how many more serious movies geared towards intelligent adults there tended to be. Movies have always been commercial endeavors, but they weren't always so overwhelmingly mindless. And yes, I know there are are still some quality major studio films and plenty of serious indy films, and the studios have always put out some mindless fare. That doesn't disprove my point. I'm solely talking about what the overall lineup of films the major studios are putting out now as opposed to what they used to put out.
  22. Had no idea some of the ML people were designing their own hardware. That's very interesting.
  23. Subversive, I think it better have some of those features on your wishlist if they hope for it to sell well. In the current climate, where it seems like Sony has taken a huge chunk of the GH4's sales and who knows what Olympus is about to offer with the EM1ii, your expectations seem very modest to me.
