Basically you're losing the quality and advantages of the balanced cable (the main reason to use XLR) when you connect the adapter. (You can search balanced vs unbalanced cable for plenty of info)
Other than that you should have the same results as using any other mic or cable with a minijack on the end depending on how well made/shielded the adapter is.
The weak points in the signal would probably be the camera or zoom preamps more than the type of cable/adapter

Seems like they removed that video showing how to swap the motor side, kind of silly if it doesnt work as its in all their marketing materials, why do these companies insist on putting the motor on the wrong side!

I found switching to 70% brought a huge improvement in general quality for me, focussing on people instead of some small patch of sky in a window in the corner of the frame (for example) I think gives much better results..
70% zebras plus simple histogram is also a great combination

I ordered a DS1 a while ago and hoping it will arrive very soon. I'll give a short review on how I get on with it. It seems to be the real deal but will need some testing.

Let's put it this way, Sturdycam is not about italian design! If you want a beautiful object, their products are not for you. On the other hand they are very solid and well built. Ugly but sturdy! 
The LX100 with it's wide-angle and OIS it's really the perfect camera for any gimbal. And of course, you choose your gimbal, choose your camera, balance everything and then you stop fiddling with it!!!

you guys are confusing colour grading and colour correction, the video may not need correction but grading is an aesthetic choice

Thunderbolt is just the connection type so unlikely to make much of a difference here, an SSD would be the only thing you could possibly look into that might help but most likely is your processor cores or RAM is maxing out (see whats happening in activity monitor when premiere stalls)

For me no matter how good the image is and how low the price is lack of flipscreen/touchscreen, peaking, live histogram and IBIS would make me think twice, not that I need all of them but for the high price I think the 1DC still leaves quite a lot of boxes unticked.

I would recommend to try to postpone decisions till you need to, theres NAB in April and hopefully before that the Nikon D7200, which there is a small chance will be a big step up for video!
D600 isnt soo terrible for whatever you need to shoot before May

As long as your computer can handle it I would always recommend to work with your footage at its highest captured resolution and down scale at the end for delivery. It is easy to downscale after the fact to any resolution, not so easy to update the entire project if you later decide you want to output to 4K...

work in 4k timeline, It's more efficient and better for final output. Warp at 4k, grade at 4K do it all at 4K, just do your final render 1080p with the maximum render quality box ticked, and render at maximum bit depth ticked.
you can still zoom to reframe and so on.

In fact from the dozens of hours spent on testing the GH4 (cineD) and the time spent reading about log curve on a7s, I am definitely not interested in flat profiles on 8bits camera (especially with such compressed codecs). I think you are much better off getting your in camera image as close as possible from your post prod image. 

From my early tests I am going to continue shooting with one of the standards profile (standard or retro) with the contrast at -5 and maybe saturation at -2.
