Not that it's important or that anyone's counting, but this thread has just passed the threshold of becoming the most popular thread on EOSHD in terms of posts (over 1400) and views (over 142,000 and climbing) just overtaking the previous top dog "Surprise! Sony Alpha A6000 video mode huge improvement."

As some of you guys know, I bought a new g85 and 14-140mm lens and both are unusable. I wanted to share this video and also confirm that my camera is also behaving the same way after further usage.
Besides this jerking issue, I also had several other problems. The lens had a rumbling feeling when zooming in and out. I called the Panasonic store about that and they said it was unusual and to bring it in for them to check. Also, there was a scratch/tiny crack inside one of the front glass elements. There was also a spot on the images, but I'm not sure if it's from the imperfection from the lens.
I'm going to see if I can get a refund for this camera tomorrow since the return policies in Korea are horrible for consumers. I just wanted to share this with anybody who is thinking about buying this to test it in the store before you purchase it. I was using dual is when this jerkiness became apparent.

You can set the aspect ratio in the menu to 16:9, so that it always stays the same.

I'm very interested to find out if 4k photo mode produces better video than using normal video modes.

You need to use 4k Photo mode and set it to Burst Start/Stop. Press the shutter to start, and press it again to stop- you'll record 30p for up to 30 minutes with sound. The ND method is also a great way. By the way, the crop is visible before starting the recording (as soon as you put it in 4k Photo mode). It might have been the opposite with the LX100.

John, all of that is over my head ... I have no idea
I do know it's hard to frame in still mode though (crop happens as soon as you press record if I'm remembering correctly) the times I tried but yeah, definitely has some advantages. Also remember you can't use the shutter to start recording but not a big deal.
I've taken your previous advise and gone with the variable ND and shooting  in manual in movie mode. Working really well ... even for faced paced street stuff.

Looking at the ffprobe information, I'm seeing that the GX80 is at 29.97 fps and it has "yuvj420p", not "yuv420p". I believe yuvj420p will show 255 different color [0-255] values whereas yuv420p will show 219 color [16-235] values. Is that correct? I know that many other cameras use yuvj420p (5DM3, GOpro, etc.), but is there any real difference if you were to shoot a whole project this way?
Another benefit of shooting video in stills mode is the ability to shoot in 16:9, 4:3, 3:2, and 1:1 aspect ratios. Could be good for some projects... 1:1 is offering 2880 horizontal and VERTICAL lines of resolution. The widest aspect is still going to be 16:9.
I find it interesting that the GX80, specifically, is essentially a pseudo world camera, having the possibility to shoot 24p, 25p, and 30p video (in stills mode). It's only lacking the unlimited max recording time of the GX85, which can be removed by putting it into service mode.

I noticed that too but it seems like a series of stills it's taking when reviewing footage on the cam. I haven't had a proper look though all the 4k photo modes though.

No, I didn't. It was still jittery with dual IBIS... I sold it along with the 35-100/4-5.6 which I didn't like either. Maybe the 12-32 I had was a dud ... not sure.
I've bought the 15/1.7 & the 12-35/2.8 ... both of which are excellent and no issues with IBIS. I also have the 42.5/1.7 on the way which I'm really looking forward to using.
The GX85, 15/1.7 & 42.5/1.7 look like the perfect combo for me.

I guess rolling shutter effect will be similar to Fuji Xt-2. 3x faster but also 3x or more the pixels to read if full sensor is read vs prior pixel binning.
For me, this camera is very good. But IQ will depend very much on the color profiles ( especially the the flat one and its DR ), how sharpness / detail is worked in camera and how the codec handles motion. This things don't come in the specs and are central for a good image. For that we just have to wait for good testing of the camera. Impossible to know earlier. I hope it's not as sharp (too sharp IMHO) , bad color, prone to motion artifact, and hot as the a6300. Makes moving images horrible and long recording times impossible. Hate that camera but good specs.

I'm absolutely loving this camera. Have it pretty much set up to how I want it now using C1, C2 & C3. Excellent street cam for both video and stills. I've gone from having gripes regarding the min shutter / ISO thing to thinking this is one of the best cameras I've ever owned  Originally bought it for my wife to replace the LX100 but the Lx100 can stay and I'll keep this one !!

Caught Max Yuryev comparing the GX85, Fuji Xt2, 5dIV, and A6300... all of which are the hot cameras right now (especially the A6300 )... a nice video considering low-light, detail, and DR. The GX85 fairs well, especially at its price point.

Since you can adapt Nikon lenses to Canon bayonet, I bet you'll be able to use Nikon lenses on the NXL speedbooster through another adapter. So NX1+NXL+NikonToCanon

FZ2000 is impressive!  Just wish they'd gone with constant f2.8 and a shorter zoom range. Like the Sony RX10 mk1/mk2 series.

G80 is very appealing just for the IBIS but I think I'd rather get a heaps cheaper secondhand G7

    Wow! that was fast Dean!
Please come back to discuss your experience. I do too been tempted with all the new Panasonic announcements, getting a G85 with the 12-60 for starts (replacing the NX500), a Yi for low budget - whatever- like I have the NX3000 now, and the GH5 eventually, it would be sufficient. Plus, maybe, the JVC LS300, or whatever similar video camera, Panasonic put out in the near future. Very low budget, multi cam 4K solution, best in industry.
After all these announcements NX prices will drop vastly though, and buying a couple of S lenses for cheap, would be good too.

You might need to add on top of that a new 4k display, video card, drives, etc. Personally, I'm just going to "rough it" with the GX80 for awhile longer, even after considering some of these cool features in the G80.

It's a terrible mistake to have A-mount on there, the could easily keep the same A77 / NX1 style form factor with a mirrorless E-mount.
Mirrorless does not have to mean small!
Also can't see what it offers over an A7R II for video?

Yes, was just some black tape.
I've had the 77mm mkii version for a fair while and no issues. Only used the 52mm mkii for a couple of days but seems every bit as good as the 77. Hard stops are a great feature. Supplied cap is also a bonus.
