I can buy a lot of arguments but not this.
If any shooter that works under me (I'm a producer) ever plans a project with gear not yet released an thoroughly tested, I will fire them.
You can make misstakes, drop the camera, be late, forget to white balance, etc. Sh.. happens. But you do not pull stunts like that without a 100% solid Plan-B.

Ignoring the fact of "promise & deliver", the read out time for the rolling shutter seems to be really, really good. I think people will still be happy with a lot of camera for a great price with the UM4.6k

The SmallHD 501/502 on top of the BMPCC is a dream. Super light, super sharp, and supports LUTs for BM film.

The upgrade from the pocket to BMMCC is still pretty nice. Full sized HDMI, better battery, 60p. If you liked the BMPCC screen then I can see where it wouldn't make sense to upgrade.

Don't worry, the 6K 18 stops with global shutter cam will be announced at NAB.

They dropped a lot. Down to  $100 for a 64GB and  $380 for a 256GB. Compared to when they where new thats a big drop.
And last summer they cost about the same as the SD cards for the BMPCC when it was new. So I wouldn't worry about it, it can only get cheaper.

I appreciate the response, and I'm glad you like the content Chris and I put out. We look forward your feedback on anything we produce, and I've gained a lot of useful information and insight from this blog and the message boards.

However, I feel that essentially calling out the entire review community for being in Sony's pockets is excessive. If you were in North America and wanted to test a production A6300 before launch, the only way to do it was to fly to Miami for the press event. I wish that it was an option to have the camera shipped to us in Calgary for testing at that time, as I have other productions and a family to focus on outside of my TCSTV work. But the A6300 is such an important camera that we agreed to spend a few very busy, not at all relaxing days testing the camera out. You have to remember that this is a time when a huge number of enthusiasts pre-order their camera before launch, so these pre-release videos can serve a very useful purpose.
Most of the other journalists and reviewers I spoke with felt similarly. I'm sure a few odd ones didn't use the time to properly test the camera and wrote puff pieces about the camera and G-Master lenses, but many of us spent 16-20 hour days trying to make sure we had accurate impressions. I'd hate to see all of these people lumped together as shills for Sony.
It's a huge compliment that you see us as an honest, respectable source, and we appreciate you embedding our video on the blog post. Chris appreciates your beard-envy.  We hope you keep watching!

I get involved with the manufacturers and try to build a relationship, I go to the events organised by PR companies to try out the cameras early when I can fit it in, nothing wrong with this and all reviewers do it. I didn't realise you and Chris just got back from a Sony press event so it was a really stupidly badly timed comment on my part.
No one can deny there's generally a subversive whitewashing going on due to so much PR in the consumer electronics world but YOUR reviews are NOT like that... I like to think we remain balanced about negatives and unbiased and thinking of our content rather than our relationship with the manufacturers and this is totally what sites like ours do... We shoot from the gut and we are outspoken.
I can't tell you how sorry I am for this misunderstanding it is terrible...

It's funny, you guys represent The Camera Store, and have an in-built bias, let alone reason to maintain a good relationship with Sony...

So the fact you are one of my most trusted reviewers speaks volumes to the hard work you put into your content, and by constantly being fair and consumer minded with your reviews, you have, despite those in-built percieved bias', always "been on my side" when it comes to making a purchase - the respect you get in the community is well earned, and long lasting because I have experienced enough products you have reviewed to know that you have always been absolutely upfront with a products shortcomings. Also, the fact you go through a products shortcomings without pouring vinegar on the product, which may work well for others who don't need that specific feature or can work around it makes you guys an absolute pleasure to watch!

The corpse like comment on the skin tones makes me just want to skip this and keep my D750 and add a D5500/D7200 once funds allow rather than selling my Nikon gear and lenses. The skin tones out of the camera from the D750 are very good.

NAB is only a month away. Want to place a bet on when those NAB 2016 cameras will ship? lol

Maybe if instead they announce a cheaper EVF  (yes please!) and a 7 inch Video Assist that does 4K?? Plus a URSA Mini 4K variant with a MFT mount.

If you can spend double (or triple) then a Sony F3 will be a way better deal.
But at least now there are E mount adaptera with a variable  ND filter built into it that you could use with a FS100 

I sent them email that SDK they provided is not for camera itself but just for remote control. I have asked them about NX1 SDK again but I really do no believe that they have it or they will provide it... but better than nothing.

The features that really distinguish it vs a GH4/DVX200/NX1/A6300/C100/AF100/FS5 (as those are its main "direct" competition), give them a thorough thrashing with your testing and investigations.

on paper the f3 has less dr than the a7s and the a7rii, but imo I'm seeing more usable dr from the f3.  the roll off of blown highlights feels more gradual.  shadows also feel cleaner and more refined- even on the 35mbs internal - which I happen to think is more durable than the xavc-s 50mbs of the a7 range.

The X-Pro2 for video? Interesting.
Personally I am waiting for the X-T2 which is said to be more video centric (probably the 6k read out with 4k downsampling from the A6300) and have more video features. (personally I am hoping for a non fixed touchscreen, more video settings and feature like peaking and zebra) 

Ok here is a little comparisons.
In the sky of the very first shot its visible straight away imo. The grain is almost fully preserved on Vimeo but turned to crap on youtube.

Youtubes copyright system is so awfull though. People claming videos that are not even theres and videos that dont violate copyright laws.

It's a new era if Vimeo fails to compete.  It's a tough market.  I hope they succeed as, from what I can tell, their VOD streaming service is fair to indy filmmakers...but the tech needs to keep up.
The fact that a VOD film I have on the site doesn't pop up when doing a search of my production company name is maddening.
If anyone knows another VOD service that has a better revenue sharing scheme with equal streaming quality, please inform!

But I'm a cheapskate....  which is why I got the F3, so I'm happy with 10bit 422 for now :-)

Well, I couldn't find a reason not to take a punt on a f3 that was going too cheap.  ended up getting a fully unlocked, rgb/slog PMW-F3 for just under £1400 with a full rig/riser setup, and a few different mounts.  I have to say, I'm blown away by how this camera captures light.  gonna be taking a 3g sdi out into a pix240 for 444 uncompressed, or into a a newer recorder for prores 4444.
