Honestly with the Sony A7s you can use an F/4 lens and basically accomplish 90% of the shots you need. I would not hesitate to sell the Rokinon lenses and buy the Canon 24-105mm F/4 which you can find new for around $600-$700 and will be an all in one lens.

My setup would be Canon 24-105mm and a Canon 50mm 1.8

With those two lenses you can shoot basically anything narrative or commercially.......

No One who is considering buying a Sony will buy a Samsung camera...... Honestly how do you even put the two in the same class
Sony A7s is a professional tool being used already in productions around the world with excellent dynamic range, asa and most importantly full frame. NO non FF camera will ever be a substitute. Same like the Samaung will NEVER cut into the Mark III sales, it just doesn't happen. 4k is great, but Canon is still the #1 seller and they don't even have that in any of their consumer/prosumer cameras.

Samsung needs to work on dynamic range and asa which is more important than simply resolution a GoPro shoots 4k at 30fps and while the resolution is very helpful it's simply used for another aspect of filming. Personally I think the Samsung camera didn't even sell and might be discontinued, specs aren't everything..... Samsung NX1 has sold poorly, has received price cuts and it's basically selling for $1300 and no one wants one..........

Blackmagic is a very intelligent company that worked on their dynamic range/color science / compression before just wanted higher resolution and frame rate. Blackmagic is the future, the only problem I see is still not very good asa, but other than that it's ticks A LOT of boxes. I plan on buying an Ursa Mini or Sony Fs7 sometime in the near future, but the Micro Camera is definitely an amazing tool at an Amazing price coming to everyone just like the Pocket Camera was. My serious drawback was I need 60fps, luckily the new Micro Camera will give us that.

Sensor crop ,1080p and Low Light Performance though is still a reason why 5D Mark III and Sony A7s will still sell though......

100% absolute positivity this will not happen with A7s II........ At most A7s may do 120fps at 1080p, it is quite insane to even think they can get 60fps at 4k when we will be lucky to have it at 24/30.

You should convert your GoPro footage to ProRes, very bad compression artifacts letting me know you are editing off of the internal H.264. Yes this will create massive files, but it will make your footage look that much better. H.264 is NOT an editing codec even though many people make that mistake. This is one main reason why shooting on RED,ARRI,BLACK MAGIC, etc the internal codec is of much higher quality but even still 99% of the time if it's not recorded in ProRes it's god to convert to it or other similar codecs if you're in "PC" world.

*Color balance looks pretty close, GoPro footage just needs more contrast. Also I agree that you should shoot in medium field of view mode for these types of specific shoots. I usually use the Superview when doing aerials as I love the slight "fisheye" effect.

100% False , do a search on some images I've posted. If you understand how to color correct / grade you can push the S-LOG image anywhere you want. Learn the tools before posting false information. Canon DSLR have their color profiles baked in, you can achieve the same exact look with the A7s if you learn to read scopes......

Personally I like different crop sensor cameras, shooting FF, S35 or even S16.

The most important thing I consider in an image is dynamic range and colors, resolution not so much as long as it's 720p. Blackmagic Ursa Mini will be my next personal camera, I really don't see myself buying any new non 4k camera, 4K camera simply gives you a greta advantage when downscaling to 1080p which is something I wouldn't want to lose.

I would definitely suggest shooting with a more "baked" in profile. Cine V would be good, also see if you can attach a ring light to your rig as that should help tremendously with any under exposed areas you might run into.

Shooing with F/2 lens and iso 1600 should give you great results, remember it is better to bump the iso in camera than to record an underexposed image. I definitely wouldn't shoot above iso 1600, but if shooting at 4k and down-resing your footage to 1080p - 720p  + using a noise reduction plugin you should get some pretty good results.

FF and larger will be the normal use for professionals, always has been and will be for photography and will soon be with Video/Film, hence the reason Arri and RED have cameras now with larger sensors than S35. Now on a prosumer level the Sony A7s shoots Full Frame + Aps-C and even a Clear Zoom scale which I believe is close to MFT crop so the idea that anyone thinks a camera like the A7s is not one if not the best tool is simply because they've never sued it before.

Also regarding Bokeh you can easily stop your lens down and raise the iso if you want a deeper DOF, A7s records perfectly clean footage at 6400 iso. In comparison Blackmagic Cameras max out at 800-1600 ASA, RED you never want to shoot about 1250 and lets not even talk about MFT cameras like GH4 where you definitely want to stay under 1000 iso as well.  I truly believe people really make up uninformed opinion about FF cameras and have never owned/used one.

Professional Film is going FF and larger while photography is as well or honestly has always been (medium format).

You can still create beautiful images though with most camera's, even smaller sensor ones. The advantage from my experience of larger sensor cameras is first and foremost noise performance, wide angle and dof. While Blackmagic with their pocket/micro camera may have smaller sensors it's really the lovely dynamic range and color science that make the image look so "film like".

Talking cameras is cool and fun, but honestly everyone needs to focus more on their own work with the tools they have which is more than enough to get to where you want to be and then you can always use better gear.......

The reason for using S-LOG is for maximum dynamic range, if you chose not to use it you lose about 2 stops without it. So you can effectively go from 12 to 10 stops by not shooting in S-LOG mode or even worst. Some people have ranned test and said they only lost about 1 stop, but from my experience with the camera you would always want to use it at it's best setting.
S-LOG mode protects your highlights which is crucial during bright scenes, if you're shooting a night time scene maybe not so important, but you can clip your sensor easily so you still need to be careful. From my experience I would use S-LOG mode 99% of the time.

Dude you made a feature film how many people can say that NOT many Nobody likes their work name me one artist director that loves his films or art and say Shit man i am good this is good
No for some HARD CANDY LOVE stop bitching and moaning you wont get any sympathy from me and go have fun by making short films and stop thinking that one day you will be some bog movie director. You think all those directors you mentioned started because they wanted to be big and important at the beginning NO they do what they love. Keep doing what you love and if one day you make it then more power to you my philosophy is if i don't like it if it is giving me stress i don't do it.

PS I was in a war 4 years at age 14 (Bosnia) lost 2 brother and father to that war escaped to Croatia over the mountain took me 3 weeks  to travel 230k almost got killed in doing it, from there went to Pakistan for 2 years as refugee almost got raped in one of the refugee camps, come to Canada with red cross was homeless for 6 months in Toronto barely spoke any English lived from shelter to shelter could not get work thanks to my English took me 3 months to get welfare got my education went to collage for graphic design and film All that was 15 years ago do i make films NO do i work as Graphics designer NO I fabricate kitchens in a small town make good money have a beautiful family my own place nice SUV car there is clean water coming from my tap i have electricity and this film staff i do it as hobby and threat it as professional hobby why because it makes me happy

iMac will retain value over ANY Pc  you can build for years to come.....
iMac Retina is no slouch at 4.0GHZ i7 (4.4GHZ Turbo Boost) , Fusion or Flash Storage and basically one of the fastest 4Gb Mobile graphic cards to push the AMAZING 5120 x 2880 res screen. I mean even any monitor remotely close to the iMac quality will easily cost you close to $2000 alone.......

The ONLY reason I would not buy the iMac Retina is because we should be seeing a revision update later this summer, but even still it's a near perfection of a computer that will last many years to come.....

A7s produces beautiful log images which you can basically color/grade how you choose too. The first step is taking that log image and converting to REC 709, then you color to taste...... From my experience Sony A7s produces amazing colors and grades wonderfully, you just really have to spend some time with it and understand how it works. Here's a before/after picture of an unreleased Music Video (Artist: Gyptian) I worked on. Graded in RESOLVE and Tweaked in FINAL CUT

    S-LOG mode standard settings

Graded in Resolve and Tweaked in Final Cut

    1) DaVinci Resolve first node adjust exposure (highlights / lows / contrast)
    2) 2nd node applied LUT ( I believe it was Kodak or similar, I have a whole bunch)
    3) Tweaked in Final Cut (contrast) + fine adjustments to color in Colorista. I noticed A7s image has more green than normal so you simply bring it down judging by your waveforms and level them out & I like to push the blue (for skies , water, etc)

It's a pretty long process it seems, but I think the final image is worth it.... I'm used to working with RED LOG files all of the time (work) and the Sony A7s holds up incredibly well in comparison. The main advantage of RED files though is being able to adjust white balance / iso / etc. as the camera shoots RAW, something A7s to my understanding is not capable of.
    Thanks
