Alex T got a reaction from PannySVHS in Magic Lantern Raw Video
Thanks man! Yeah it's good to see ML alive and well. The slomo is indeed 48p RAW
I'm saving for a BMPCC4k at the moment, but I can still see myself using my 5d & ML moving forward too.

Alex T reacted to jpbelanger in How many sales are Canon losing from enthusiasts due to video shenanigans?
I don't know what they're doing exactly, but they're done by now. Even if they would come out with some kind of competition to the new BMPCC 6K, the S1h or the incoming (I hope) a7sIII, they would just cripple it in some way that the others don't, for color science's sake. BMPCC fills so much tasks, from trad run&gun to streaming cameras, A7sii still reigns as the king of low light, and the S1h is basically everything a photographer/videographer has ever wished for. What's left for Canon in this segment? What could they get out of it?
I guess the only way they could profit from this segment now would be to release some kind of Amira shoulder-style docu/broadcast camera at a decent price. But they'll never do that.

Alex T got a reaction from mkabi in Canon rush to reassure investors as camera profits plunge 64%
There are so many options for decent 4k & video features these days (at an unbeatable price point) that I'm no longer hoping for Canon to satisfy my requirements. The party is somewhere else now and boy is it raging!
I'll always remember Canon fondly. The 5d II was my first proper camera and then the 5D III. Only reason I've still kept hold of it - Great stills, and great video (But only with Magic Lantern). However I shall be selling it soon to raise money for more gear

In light of all the latest cameras out now, magic lantern is still awesome. This is a recent video put together from the eos m raw.
Contax Zeiss 50mm f1.7 + Canon EOS M RAW https://youtu.be/w5YeZfvpee8
Still a great camera from 2012.

Alex T reacted to zerocool22 in Magic Lantern successfully tested on 5D Mark IV
Do you know what the max data transfer on the 5D IV is? Is it the same as on the 5D III? If so then it kinda sucks. I wish they would have used cfast 2.0 on the 5D IV.
Because this wast the bottleneck on the 5D III right? But maybe there is a possibility of dual slot? Writing one frame on the CF and one frame on the SD? Not sure if if possible?
So what could we expect from the 5D IV RAW over the 5D III?
- 2K full frame RAW @ 60fps? continues
- Higher Iso (Not sure at this point until what point the 5D IV noise begins to settle in, the 5D III was iso 1600 max for me)
- 1 extra stop of DR
- Better playback
- HDMI for monitoring

It depends on the horizontal resolution you choose to shoot at. Divide the pixel width of 5DIII sensor by horizontal res to get crop factor.
Yes, it does. Expect a 50 to 70% reduction in file size, depending on ISO and scene complexity.
What I'm seeing is stuff at the pixel level really affects compression. So ISO noise is one, as we already know. The bitrate goes absolutely through the roof when I film the moire pattern on my computer screen. I mean, it even kills crop mode 1920x1080!

Bummer news. I was shooting with the 120t indoors and it just didn't feel "extra bright" to me. I'm used to using the Arri 650w fresnel. I put them next to each other and set the Arri to flood. It looks like the 120t is about 3/5 as bright which would put it at around 400-450 watt equivalent.

They are a superb company. I own the Lightstorm LS & 2 Lightstorm LS 1/2 and they are well build and powerful. I run them off Sony batteries via a V-mount which gives them enough juice for a couple of hours. Can't wait to see what they come up with next.
